    Planetary position at birth

    1. Goddess Parvati is asking the Rishis to tell the results for a person having the following

planetary positions on account of fate: Lagna is Virgo, Moon and Saturn placed in Aries,

Mercury and Sun in Leo, Jupiter and Ketu in Taurus, Venus in his debilitated house of

Virgo and Rahu is in Scorpio.

    Notes by C.G.Rajan:

For this Rasi Chart the following positions in Navamsa will be fitting:

Ketu in Cancer, Saturn in Leo, Moon in Virgo, Mars in Libra, Sun and Mercury in Sagittarius,

Venus and Rahu in Capricorn. Mercury and Venus are combust.

    Notes By Yenbeeyes:

n this sloka, surprisingly there is no mention of the position of the planet Mars. Again without the

position of Longitudes of planets or the Nakshatra padas in which the planets are placed in

the Rasi Chart, C.G.Rajan has given the Navamsa position. Navamsa Lagna as also position

of Jupiter in Navamsa is not mentioned in his explanation.

From Verse 50 we note that the Balance of Venus Dasa at birth is 11 Years and 2 months. The

Nakshatras of Venus as per Vimshottari Dasa are Bharani, Purva Phalguni, Purvashada.

C.G.Rajan has taken the birth star as Bharani and the position of Moon in Navamsa as Virgo.

Here is the table of Nakshatra Padas of Planets based on the above position of Navamsa given

    by C.G.Rajan:

Grandeur of the place of birth

    2. When Goddess Parvati asked like that (as stated in verse 1), Rishi Vasishtar who is also

called as Guru Rishi replied. The native will be a male. His house will be situated in a

street running East to West. House will be facing the South. A temple for Lord Ganesa

  • and another one for Mariamman will be on the Southern direction. On the Eastern side a

Siva temple and nearer to that a big Kaliamman temple are situated.

    3.

    .

    3. A temple for Lord Vishnu will be nearer (to his house). In such a not so much known (the

actual word in Tamil will give a meaning of hidden village) small village, the native will

be born in his fathers house which will be a strong one. Rishi addresses Parvati as the one

who is of benevolent character and says We will now start telling the results for such a

    native.

    Comments From Yenbeeyes:

Anything concerning the birth is to be naturally linked to the influences on Lagna, Lagna Lord

as also the karaka. With this basic idea what strikes to me is enlisted here.

Birth of the native was in his fathers house: So any influence on Lagna/Lagna Lord by the 9th

house factors as also karaka Sun are to be looked into. 9th Lord Venus is occupying Lagna.

Jupiter placed in the 9th house influences Lagna by aspect and also through its dispositor who

happens to be Venus. From Chandra Lagna 9th Lord happens to be Jupiter. Lagna Lord Mercury

has conjoined karaka Sun who is strongly placed in his own house.

Siblings of the Natives father and Characteristics of Natives Father

    4. We say that the natives father will have seven siblings. Out of these some will die early.

Now we will say about the characteristics of Natives father. He will be lean and tall.

Will have a compassionate mind. He will have a color akin to that of Lord Mahavishnu. He

will be a famous person in earth.

  • Comments From Yenbeeyes:

Lean and Tall: Jupiter and Ketu occupies the body of the father (Taurus being 9th house indicate

Lagna of father). Normally when there is a combination of Jupiter + Rahu or Jupiter + Ketu, the native

tends to be tall. From Chandra Lagna too Jupiter becomes lord of the 9th house of father. Now this

Jupiter is placed in the house of Venus and the aspect of Rahu on this Jupiter, all will carry the

influence of the lord of that house-Venus. Venus normally acts against tallness. But this Venus is

    debilitated and hence becomes weak.

In Virgo Chart 1, I have given the rules for leanness of the body. Here even though Jupiter, the

planet of corpulence is placed in the Lagna of father, the dispositor of Jupiter - Venus is

debilitated. Venus being placed in the house of Mercury will exhibit the qualities of Mercury

who is conjoined with the dry planet Sun. Influence of Rahu and Ketu on Pitru Lagna will have

no effect. Mercury, the dispositor of Venus is a viewless person and has to fall in line with Sun

who is strongly placed in own house. Additionally both Jupiter and Mars are aspecting the lord

of Pitru Lagna Venus. Since Mars is also in the house of Mercury same argument as above holds

good. Hence the natives father is lean.

In Jataka Tatva-under Chapter 3- Prakeerna Tatva various sutras are given for an examination of

the several parts of the body. For want of space, I am restricting myself in quoting the

combinations which fulfill the conditions stated in this verse as regards the natives father.

One last point which I would like to bring to the notice of the readers is that the signs Cancer,

Aquarius, Capricorn, Pisces, Scorpio and Libra have been termed as water and the remaining

    signs as dry by Mahadeva.

Color resembling that of Mahavishnu: We have to refer to the various Puranas wherein colors

of deities have been explained. Also in many Tamil classics, the color of Lord Mahavishnu has

been mentioned. I quote below one such Tamil Verse taken from a classic called Peria

    Tirumadal

    -

    -

    -

    , (48)- line 191-193

People praise Mahavishnu as Kaayaamboo Vannan ''. Kaayaa is a flower

having deep blue color or dark purple color. The Botanical name of this flower is Memecylon

    tinctorium.

  • Hence according to this, the natives father will be having a dark complexion. Rahus aspect

alone is sufficient to render the color black.

    5.

    .

    5. Natives father will be an erudite scholar (having a research mind) and will have a strong

willed mind. He is capable of talking in a mature manner and also craftily. He will be

living praised by his relations. He will be a lucky person. He will be a friend to many

excellent and virtuous people. He will be a charitable person. He will do agriculture.

Whatever work he does he will successfully complete it.

    6.

    .

    6. Natives father likes to be eulogized. He will have no bad desires; a good man; he will give

alms to the deserving persons knowing their worthiness. He will be dear to his relations.

He will help those who praise him and worship him. He worships Lord of heaven and

earth Vishnu. He will be a good man in all the four directions. He will speak pleasingly

    and courteously.

    7.

    .

    7. Natives father will be suffering from Pitta and Piles. He will have a blemish on his shoulder

(C.G.Rajan says it is lameness). He tends to exaggerate while talking. He will construct a

beautiful house in a different manner. (Probably not like the traditional one). Daily he

will eat good sumptuous food and will enjoy happiness. Oh! Goddess Parvati! Please listen

    further.

  • Comments From Yenbeeyes:

he verse talks about some fault in the shoulder of the natives father. Shoulder is

represented by the 3rd house and Gemini sign. Mars is placed in Gemini and according

to Jataka Tatva Sloka 152 Chapter 3-Prakeerna tatva In the particular limb signified

by the sign occupied by Mars and the Sun, there will be a slightly red mark or indication.

(Might also be a mole). 3rd house from Pitru Lagna which indicates shoulder is Cancer and its

lord Moon is placed in the 12th house (to Pitru Lagna) along with the lame Saturn and its

dispositor happens to be Mars. Hence the defect.

    8.

    .

    8. Natives father will be always thinking about many things. He will doing Puja (a ritual in

honor of the God done either at home or in a temple) to Lord Mahavishnu. He will possess

male as well as female servants. He will not have unity and peace with his siblings. He

will be an avaricious person. He will be a deceitful man. He will also have a little anger.

He will be an educated person. He will listen to discourses.

Siblings of the native (House of Co-borns)

    9. To such a characteristic father, this native will be born as the second child. We say that he

will not have brothers. When Vasishta Rishi said like that Parvati intervened and asked:

Tell in detail about the matters pertaining to the natives siblings.

    Comment From Yenbeeyes:

There are two statements in this verse which are contradictory. The native will be born as the

second child He will have no siblings. Probably because of this the Goddess had intervened

and asked the Rishi to explain. This will be cleared in the next verse.

    10. Rahu in the 3rd house (of siblings) and Mars (karaka for siblings) placed in the (hidden)

8th from the 3rd house; Rishi Vasishtar said that the natives siblings will perish. On this

Rishi Virudhar contradicts this statement and says that the benefic Jupiter who is lord of

4th house is placed in the 9th house and aspects the 3rd house of siblings. Hence

    (Continued in next verse)

    Comments from Yenbeeyes:

There is a mention of one of the names of the Rishi as Virudhar. Out of the seven Rishis who is

called as Virudhar is not known to the scribe. Even C.G.Rajan has simply mentioned as Virudha

rishi in his explanation in Tamil. One meaning of the Tamil word Virudhar is warrior.

Vishwamitra was earlier a King and a great warrior. Hence the interference made might be taken

from that of Vishwamitra. This is my inference which is bound for correction.

    11.

    .

    11. (Continued from previous verse..) How can you say that the native will have no siblings?

Vasishtar replied to this, Oh! Parvati ! listen:, The reason for this is that fourth lord

Jupiter by being placed in the 6th house from his own house of (Sagittarius) and also

conjoining Ketu, hence even if siblings are born, they will perish. Hence native will have

    to live alone.

    Comments from C.G.Rajan:

6th, 8th and 12th houses from any Bhava are the bad houses (Trik house) or hidden houses for that

particular Bhava. The Lord of any Bhava if placed in any of the 6th, 8th or 12th houses from that

Bhava, that Bhava will get completely destroyed. The reference to this can be found in

Uttrarakalamirtham 4th chapter, 6th sloka and also in Phaladeepika, 15th Chapter, 3rd and 4th sloka.

  • Comments From Yenbeeyes:

    Uttarakalamirtham 4th Chapter- 6th sloka:

    -

Meaning: if the Lord of a Bhava be placed in the 8th house from Lagna or from the Bhava, be

eclipsed by the rays of the Sun, be in his fall or occupy an inimical house and not associated

with or aspected by benefics, Rishis say that the effects of that Bhava is completely destroyed.

Even if benefics themselves associate with the Bhava, there will be no salvation. The Lagna and other

Bhavas should be examined in this manner.

    Phaladeepika Chapter 15 Sloka 3 and 4

Meaning: Of the lagna and other Bhavas examined in succession, whichever Bhava has its lord

occupying the 8th place or obscured by the solar rays or in depression or in an inimical house

while no benefic planets aspect or are associated with it, the result is the total destruction of

such a Bhava. The bhava will be incapable of producing any good effect even if a benefic other

than its lord similarly circumstanced occupy the Bhava; if a malefic should be in that position,

the total destruction of the Bhava would be the result.

    Sloka 4:

  • Meaning: Malefics posited in the 6th, 8th and 12th places counted from the Lagna or other Bhava

under consideration cause destruction of the said Bhava. Benefics in such a position are not

capable of producing good effects for the Bhava. So say the astrologers with respect to several

    Bhavas.

It is worth noting some more references like the one below:

Jataka Tatva Chapter 3 Prakeerna tatva Sloka 5

Meaning: When the lord of any Bhava is in the 6th, 8th or 12th; or when that Bhava is occupied by

the lord of the 6th, 8th or 12th house reckoned from that Bhava, the bhava in question is totally

    destroyed.

So applying these principles to the Sloka No. 11 above, we find that Jupiter is Lord of 4th house

and is placed in the 6th house from its own house and hence, will not be able to produce any good

effects even though he is a benefics. Such a Jupiter, bereft of any benefic qualities is aspecting

the 3rd house of siblings and hence cannot bestow any good results for that Bhava (3rd house).

Also applying the same principles, we can see that the Lord of 3rd house of Native Mars is also

placed in the 8th house from its own house of Scorpio. Hence he will not also give good results in

respect of siblings of which he himself is the natural karaka.

    12.

    .

    Characteristics Of The Native

    12. The native will be of reddish complexion. He will be a charitable gentleman. He will tall

and lean. He will befriend the Rishis. He will have a doubtful mind; a bit hot-tempered. He

will have many laborers. He will be a guile-less man on earth. He will be fond of his wife.

  • Comments From Yenbeeyes:

Much has been stated earlier in respect of Slimness and tallness as well as the color of the body.

Readers would note that the Lagna is influenced by Mars by aspect and Lagna Lord has

conjoined Sun, the two chief planets having reddish color. According to Jataka Tatva Virgo is a

dry sign and its lord has conjoined the dry planet Sun. Aspect of Mars on Lagna is also another

factor for slimness. Rahu, Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn normally give a tall stature. In this chart,

Lagna Lord becomes Mercury and Lagna is aspected by Jupiter. In Chandra Lagna Saturn is

posited and its dispositor Mars having been placed in Gemini will behave like Mercury.

The native is said to be short tempered. Short temper is the result of influence of Mars and

Saturn on the Lagna factors. Saturn is aspecting Mars. Mars is aspecting Lagna. So Mars carries

with it the influence of Saturn too. Mars is Lord of Chandra Lagna and Saturn is placed there

and thus Saturn behaves like Mars.

    13.

    .

    13. He will have good manners and morality; an educated person; will assist those who are

poor and in need. He will be a person who will accommodate himself in times of need and

when circumstances warrant. He is good at Mathematics. He will be a renowned person on

earth. He will be talking sweetly and jovially. He will get property from father and he

    will augment the same.

    Comments From Yenbeeyes:

Good at Mathematics: Mercury is the karaka for Mathematics. Ketu is the secondary karaka.

Association between Jupiter and Mercury especially in mutual kendras or trikonas either in Rasi

or Navamsa makes one take interest in Mathematics. 4th, 5th and 9th houses are also to be seen.

Natural 6th house Virgo has a say in the case of mathematicians.

Some other combinations taken out from various classics are:

It is important for the Jupiter to be in the centre and Mercury should be the lord of second

house or Venus should be exalted or in its own house. Because of this combination the

native has deep interest in mathematics.

If Mars is in the second house with a benefic planet or aspected by Mercury or Mercury is

in Kendra the native becomes a mathematician.

  • If Jupiter is in Kendra or Trikona, Venus is exalted, Mercury and Mars in house of

wealth or in any Kendra aspected by Mercury the native becomes a very good

    mathematician.

Now coming to the chart of the native we find that Jupiter and Ketu have joined and are placed

in the trikona house of 9th. Mercury and Jupiter are in mutual kendras. 4th lord Jupiter is placed

in the 9th house. From Chandra Lagna we see that the 5th lord Sun is in his own sign combined

with the natural rasi lord of Mathematics-Mercury and the 9th lord Jupiter is aspecting Virgo.

Dispositor of Jupiter is Venus who is placed in the natural 6th house of Mercury. No doubt the

    native is good at mathematics.

    14.

    .

    14. Native will give alms and perform moral and religious rites. He will befriend good people.

He will have no bad characters. He is capable of bringing his enemies also into his

possession. He will live with honor and pride. He will be in possession of vehicles. He

will be devout towards divine people. He will not fail in his words.

    15.

    .

    15. Native will have the Lotus lines in his walking feet. He will cultivate agricultural lands and

will also increase them. He will talk sweet and pleasant words. He will attract even his

enemies. He will go on pilgrimage to various places and will take bath in the sacred

waters/rivers there. He will cultivate nine kinds of grains (Nava Dhanya) and will

increase the yield. He is fond of Curd, Ghee and milk. He will be living with a status

more than that of his father.

    16.

    .

  • Marriage Time Of The Native And Characteristics Of His Wife

    16. We will tell about the time of marriage of the native. He will get married in his 12th year.

His wife will be from the North Eastern direction. She will have gait akin to that of a

swan. She will be beautiful. She will serve food with interest. She will have no distortion

in her body. We will tell more, Please listen.

    Comments from C.G.Rajan:

Marriage time: Venus is lord of 9th house. He is placed in Lagna and aspecting the 7th house of

marriage. Further he is the lord of 2nd house of family related to spouse. At the age of 12, Venus

dasa ends. As per Jataka Parijata, 14th Chapter, 29th Sloka, 9th lord Venus gets authority to bring

marriage during his dasa. Jupiter owns the 7th house from Venus. Direction of Jupiter is North

East. According to Jataka Kanidham-Part II written by C.G.Rajan which deals with the decision

to be taken for declaring results of a chart, 103 7th Bhava-93rd item, Wife will come from the

direction indicated by 7th lord from Venus. Hence it is correct that the wife of the Native will come

from North East which is the direction of Jupiter who becomes lord of the 7th house from

Venus. In this connection please also refer to Sloka 658 of Jataka Alankaram.

    Comments From Yenbeeyes:

C.G.Rajan has given three references in support of the time of marriage as well as the direction

from which wife will come. Out of these three, I quote below the original shlokas of Jataka

Parijata. As I do not have in my possession the Tamil book Jataka Kanitham-Part II written by

C.G.Rajan himself, I am unable to quote the same. Sloka referred to in Jataka Alankaram is

from the Tamil Edition written by Keeranur Natarajan.

    Jataka Parijata Chapter-14, Sloka 29

This has already been listed under Virgo-Chart 1. Readers may kindly refer to the same.

    Jataka Alankara Sloka 658

    .

Meaning: The said marriage as per previous sloka will happen and the wife will come from the

direction of the planets as indicated herein: Sun indicates East, Venus indicates the direction of Agni

  • which is South-East, Mars indicates South, Rahu-Ketu will denote the direction of Nirruthi which is

South-West, for the Moon it is the direction of Vayu which is North-West, Saturn indicates West,

    Mercury-North and Jupiter North East.

This sloka gives only the direction from where the spouse will come for the native. In the

previous sloka it is stated that the direction is to be determined by the lord of the 7th house from

Lagna. The directions as given above are to be determined according to the planet owned by the

7th house. However, C.G.Rajan has given it as the Lord of the 7th house from Venus.

    17.

    .

    17. Natives wife will be pious. She will take care of poor and grievous people. She will be

flatulent due to wind in the system. She will be lucky. She is capable of speaking nicely.

She will be kind to her husband. Her heart/mind will have no bad intentions. She will be

    dear to her relations.

    18.

    .

    18. When Guru Rishi alias Vasishtar said like this, Parvati asked the Rishi to tell how and

where the marriage will be performed? Vasishtar replied calling the Goddess as an

Excellent person, that the marriage will happen in a grand manner in a Vishnu temple

    situate in the northern side.

    19.

    .

    19. Parvati asked the reason for the same. Vasishtar replied that because of the following

combinations I said like that - Karmadhipathi (10th Lord) Mercury is in the 3rd house

from the 10th house which is the 12th house, 2nd lord of family-Venus becoming debilitated

  • and Saturn is aspecting the 2nd house. Parvati continued and asked the Rishi to tell the

reason for performing the marriage contrary to the customs of the community.

    20.

    .

    20. During Venus dasa, the native was afflicted by a disease and his parents prayed to Lord

Mahavishnu and begged Him that they will perform the marriage of their son in His

(Lords) presence (meaning in His temple) if He (Lord) is kind enough to cure their son

of the disease1 Because of this reason the marriage was performed in the temple of

Vishnu as the native got cured of the disease - stated the Rishi.

    ()

    21.

    .

    Natives Children (Putra Bhava)

    21. We will tell about the children of the native. There is no strength in the chart for

progeny. When Vasishta Rishi stated like this, Atri Rishi intervened and asked the reason

for the blemish of childlessness for the native. Vasishtar said that it is because the 5th lord

Saturn has gone to the hidden 8th house and he is also debilitated and placed in Aries, and

    thus becomes bad.

    Comments from C.G.Rajan:

The 20th degree of Aries is the maximum debilitation point of Saturn. In the rest of the

longitudes, it is ordinary debilitation. Aries is not an enemy Rasi for Saturn. But for the Tamil

word which literally gives the meaning as enemy, should be taken to mean as bad.

Comment from Yenbeeyes: According to Three Hundred Important Combinations of Dr.

B.V.Raman Combination number 224 Aputra Yoga If the 5th lord occupy a dusthana (6th,

8th or 12th) the native will be issueless.

1 In BPHS, Parasara Rishi says its best to pray to Lord of Lagna. Here Lagna is Virgo, lord is Mercury and deity is Lord

Vishnu, so he prayed to Lord Vishnu for his health (ruled by Mercury) & got results. - SA

  • There is another factor also in the chart which indicate problem as regards progeny. Mars, the

dire malefic for Virgo lagna is aspecting the 5th house. This is explained in the next sloka by the

    rishi.

So the 5th house, its lord and also karaka for children Jupiter all are afflicted.

    22.

    .

    22. Vasishtar further continued that the aspect of Mars on the 5th house is also a reason for

childlessness. To this Rishi Bhuyandar contradicts and says that if Jupiter aspects the fifth

Bhava, there will be progeny. Vasishtar says that with this Jupiter, Ketu is placed and

because of the destiny acting from the previous birth (continued in next verse)

    23.

    .

    23. Putra Dosha (Blemish of childlessness) came in this birth. Parvati asked the Rishi to tell

about that matter (of actions done in the previous birth) Rishi Vasishtar replied that he

will certainly tell about that. In his previous birth, the native took birth in a big village to

the east of Thiruvaalangadu (a place situated on the western suburb of Chennai) in the

family of village accountant who are called as Karnam. Attending to the village

    accounts (Continued in next verse).

    Comments from Yenbeeyes:

The Tamil word used is Karna indicating it as a community. These Karna community people are

otherwise known as Karuneegar in Tamilnadu. They believe that they are the descendants of

Chitragupta who is the son of Brahma. They are also a part of Surya Brahmins, a sect of the

vedic tribe. Details about Karuneegars are available in detail in Karuneegar Puran originally

written around 1st century AD in Sanskrit and later on translated into Tamil and Telugu. Their

main occupation is teaching, administration, science, accountancy, mathematics etc. In many

villages in Tamilnadu, one person will be the Village accountant (called as Karnam in Tamil)

who used to maintain the village land records, revenue etc. The same family used to do the job.

Nowadays such jobs have been taken over by the Government.

  • 24.

    .

    24. .. (Continued from previous verse) he was living with wife and children. We will tell

the misfortune that happened to him. He took money as bribe from the poor people of the

village promising them that he will allot lands to them. We will tell later about what the

native did in this matter in the later part.

    25.

    .

    25. But he allotted the lands to another rich person of the village. When the poor people came to

know of this they got vexed and cursed him that the native will live on earth without any

issues and without siblings and in poverty.

    26.

    .

    26. Like this all those poor people cursed the native (in his previous birth). Because of this, in

his previous birth, his children died2. Native had to face lot of difficulties and also was in a

poor status. And during his last days, he visited many pilgrimage centres and then

returned back to his native village (continued in next verse)

    27.

    .

2 There is a new notion among astrologers that all curses given in this life will act in the next life. This is a false notion and

one can see here that due to the curse of the villagers the natives children died in the current life and also he has been

facing childlessness in the next life. As per the tradition of Aghoris it is stated that a curse acts for 7 lifetimes. - SA

  • 27. (continued from previous verse) and died on account of Syphilis, went to the abode of

Yama and was sent to hell. Written by Brahma, he was born in this community in this

birth. We say that because of the curse of the previous birth, the native will have Putra

    Dosha (Childlessness) in this birth.

    28.

    .

    28. In case he begets children, they will die. We will tell a remedy for the same. Native has to

go to Tiruvallur (a temple town situated in the North-West of Chennai), do thousand

Archana (praying to God by chanting the thousand names of Him in Sanskrit it is

called as Sahasra Nama meaning thousand names), feed poor people and then go back to

his village and start fasting on Ekadhasi day (Continued in next verse)

    29.

    .

    29. (Continued from previous verse) then he will beget children. His wife will also be long

lived. In case the native does not perform these remedies with devotion and duty, he will

be facing the blemish of children. In case he performs these remedies, he will get two

male children and they will live long.

    30.

    .

    Characteristics Of Natives Mother

    30. We will tell about the characteristic of natives mother. She will be reddish in

complexion. She will be lean. She will be suffering from Pitta heat. She is bereft of

cunningness and deceit. She has a secretive mind. She will get angry even before telling

something. She has no bad intentions. She will be avaricious.

  • 31.

    .

    31. Her gait will be fast. She will behave according to the wishes of her husband. She will be

suffering from flatulency in her waist. She will be compassionate. We will tell about her

siblings. She will have six siblings. Out of these some will die early. She will have one

brother. [Means rest must be sisters]

    32.

    .

    Previous Birth Of Natives Mother

    32. Natives mother will have a sister who will be long lived. We will tell about the previous

birth of her. Born in a large town situated near the big town Kalahasthi in a much praised

Veda reciting Brahmin family, had children and lived with husband (continued in next

    verse)

    33.

    .

    33. (continued from previous verse) in a monastery or choultry and was selling food for

money to those who came there. I will tell about an event that happened there. One day a

strength less (weak) poor woman asked food for her child and the natives mother hissed

and angrily shouted that there is no food.

    34.

    .

  • 34. Therefore that poor lady out of hunger said to the natives mother in a sad voice that you

will lose your children in this birth and even in the next birth, you will live without

issues. So saying that poor lady (continued in next verse)

    35.

    .

    35. (continued from previous verse) left that place. That curse given by that poor lady

affected the natives mother and she faced poverty and many troubles in her previous

birth and so left on a pilgrimage to all the temples in the southern side and took bath in

the holy tanks, rivers and ponds situated there and returned back to her village and died

    before her husband.

    36.

    .

    36. Having got pain on account of tormentation at the hands of Yama (God of death) and

because of the decapitated Brahma, has taken birth now in this community. That was the

blemish on account of children (Putra Dosha) said the Rishi. Then Jayamuni started

asking the reason why this native alone is alive?

    Comments from Yenbeeyes:

Decapitated Brahma: Five headed Brahma was punished by decapitation of one of the five heads

for lying. This is the story found in Puranas:

Brahma used to have 5 heads, but now he has 4. This is because he lied to Vishnu, the Protector

of the universe. One day Brahma and Vishnu argued about who is stronger and greater. They

tried to settle it by a competition, they each will reach Shiva Lingam at the very high heavens

and below the earth, and they both will reach to ground again. As Brahma got on his swan and

soar to the sky, Vishnu turned into a boar and dug into the earth. Afterwards, Vishnu gave up

hope, he began to feel tired and began to feel hungry. He came to ground. Meanwhile, Brahma

also began to feel tired he saw a Mallika Flower. Brahma found out the flower was from Shiva

Lingam, he thought he could trick Vishnu by saying he got it from Shiva Lingam, when he just

got it in the middle of the air. Brahma went down to ground and told Vishnu the lie. Suddenly

Vishnu called out, "LIAR!" Vishnu became furious of Brahma because of his lie so much that he

  • cut of one of Brahma's head and said he won't aceppt any Mallika Flower in his worships again

And that's how Brahma lost one of his 5 heads.

    37.

    .

    37. For this Vasishtar started replying: Devaguru Jupiter sitting in the 9th house will render

the native win over (the God of death) Yama himself on earth and he will have long life.

He will not experience any problems. To this Goddess Parvati started asking: Moon is

placed in the 12th house of loss to the Lord of Sagittarius (Continued in next verse)

    Comments from Yenbeeyes:

Jupiter, because of his placement in the 9th house is aspecting the Lagna as well as the 3rd house

of Longevity which gives long life to the native.

    38.

    .

    38. (continued from previous verse) How can you say that the native will have long life.

Tell me Rishi! Parvati asked. Vasishtar replied: Since the benefic Venus is placed in Lagna,

we said that the native will live long. Oh! Mother! We said this as per the 8th Bhava of Jataka

    Shastra.

    Comments from Yenbeeyes:

There is no classic at present available by the name of Jataka Shastra as stated by the Rishi. Or

the Rishi might have referred in general to the Jyotish Shastra.

    39.

    .

  • Next Birth Of The Natives Mother

    39. We will tell about the next birth of the natives mother. She will take birth in a Brahmin

family in Kancheepuram, and will live on earth with dignity and will not have any sinful

mind. Rishi addresses Parvati as the begetter of the elephant headed Ganesa and tells her to

    listen.

Previous Birth Of The Natives Father

    40. We will tell about the previous birth of the natives father. He would have been born in a

flourishing big town in kovaisi community, having got antecedent wealth, doing business

dutifully, worried on account of no issues (continued in next verse)

    41.

    ,

    41. (continued from previous verse) went to Srirangam and prayed to the God and then

went to Sethu (Rameswaram) and prayed to the destroyer Lord Shiva and entreated Him to

that time speech of an invisible being was heard by him.

    42.

    .

    42. You will not get any issues in this birth. You will get children in your next birth. Were

the poisonous words uttered by the invisible being. Because of this, natives father with a

Next Birth Of The Natives Father

    43. We say that the natives father in his previous birth died with sorrow on account of no

issues and was born in Ganga community in this birth. Henceforth we will tell about his

next birth. We say that he will be born in a blemishless Brahmin family in Srirangam.

    44.

    .

Time Of Death Of Natives Father And Mother

    44. We will tell about the time of death of the natives father and mother. When the native is

of 38 years old, in the month of Sagittarius (Period between 15th December to 14th January)

or Margasirsha natives father will die. Thereafter, in his 40th year his mother will die and

reach the abode of Lord Shiva.

    Comments from C.G.Rajan:

Natives fathers death: Native will be running Rahu dasa, Jupiter Antardasa in his 38th year. 9th

house Taurus is the Pitru Lagna. Rahu is aspecting the Pitru Lagna Lord Venus by his 11th aspect.

He also aspects Jupiter who is the 8th lord to the Pitru Lagna. Rahu is placed in the 7th house of

maraka to Pitru Lagna. Hence according to Thuyya Keralam 8th Bhava, Slokas 12 and 20 and also

as per Jataka Chandrika-Ayurdhaya Prakirnam-22nd sloka, Rahu has got the authority to inflict

death. Jupiter becomes 8th lord to Taurus. Hence see the 45th sloka of Jataka Chandrika. Hence

Jupiter in his Antardasa has got the authority to inflict death.

Natives mothers death: At the age of 40 native will be running Rahu dasa, Saturn Antardasa.

4th house Sagittarius is Matru Lagna. Rahu is aspecting the Matru Lagna Lord Jupiter. Hence as

per Tuyya Keralam slokas 12 and 20 Rahu gets authority to bring about the death of mother.

  • Saturn has conjoined the 8th Lord Moon from Matru Lagna. Moon is karaka for mother. Hence

according to Tuyya Keralam Saturn also gets authority to inflict death to mother.

    Comments from Yenbeeyes:

C.G.Rajan has given three references from Classics.

Tuyya Keralam As stated in Virgo Chart 1, I have no idea about the stated classic.

Jataka Chandrika Ayurdaya prakirnam Sloka 22 In my notes under Virgo chart 1 I

have mentioned this sloka. Hence readers may refer to the same.

Jataka Chandrika 45th sloka The sloka numbers differ as different versions are

available. So without taking into account the sloka number, I give below the particular

sloka which has relevancy here. In this also I found different versions and I am giving

both the versions. The number 45 mentioned might be a printing error also as while

giving notes under time of death of the native it has been mentioned as sloka 54.

    B.Suryanarain Row:

    His translation is:

Sukra, Chandra, Guru and Kuja are evil to the person born in Kanya (Virgo) Sukra alone gives

good. Buda and Sukra when in conjunction produce rajayoga (57). Ravi does not kill the person himself.

Kuja and others who are evil kill the native. In this way the learned judge of these results-good and bad-

after careful consideration. (58)-Sloka 58 not given above.

In his notes under the above shlokas Sri Suryanarain Row has given full explanations of these

verses which the readers may refer to. One important point noted by him is that he feels that

the sloka should begin with Kuja jeevan davaha papaha which is what has been done by other

    authors.

    Various other authors:

  • I reproduce the transliteration of the Sanskrit sloka as found in the books:

KUJA JEEVENDAVAHA PAAPAAHA, EKO BHRUGU-SUTHA SUBAHA

    BHAARGAVENDU-SUTHAA VEVA BHAVEATHAM YOGA-KARAKAHA

    NAHANTHAA KAVIRANYETHU MAARAKAAKHAAHA KUJA ADAYAHA

GHNTHI PAAPAAHA PHALAA NYOOHA ANYEAVAM KANYA BHUVO BUDHAIAH

Meaning as given: Kuja (Mars), Guru (Jupiter) and Chandra (Moon) are evil planets for a

person born in Kanya-lagnam (house of Virgo=ASD) Kuja is the lord of 3rd and 8th houses. Guru

is the lord of 4th and 7th houses (kendrams) Chandra=Moon is the lord of 11th house, so they give

harmful results. Sukra (Venus) is the only benefic planet. Budha (Mercury) and Sukra (Venus)

are beneficial planets. Sukra cannot cause death. Planets like Kuja which have maraka qualities

can cause death to the person born in Kanya lagnam.

    Dasa-Antardasa of the native:

Balance of Venus Dasa at birth; 11 Yr 2 mnth

Next is Sun dasa 6 Years up to the age of 17 Yrs 2 months

Next is Moon dasa 10 years up to the age of 27 yrs 2 months

Next is Mars dasa 7 years up to the age of 34 years 2 months

Next dasa is of Rahu which is for 18 years and antar dasas will be as under:

    Antar Dasa From To

    Y-M-D Y-M-D

    Rahu 34-2-00 37-10-12 (2 yr - 8 mnth 12 d)

    Jupiter 37-10-12 40-3-6 (2 yr - 4 mnth 24 d)

    Saturn 40-3-6 43-1-12 (2 yr - 1 mnth 6 d)

Rahu dasa will be over by 52 years 2 months

Next dasa will be of Jupiter. The Antar dasas will be as under:

    Antar Dasa From To

    Y-M-D Y-M-D

    Jupiter 52-2-0 54-3-18 (2 yr - 1 mnth 18 d)

    Saturn 54-3-18 56-10-0 (2 yr - 6 mnth 12 d)

    Mercury 56-10-0 59-1-6 (2 yr - 3 mnth 6 d)

    Ketu 59-1-6 60-0-12 (0 yr 11 mnth 6 d)

    Venus 60-0-12 62-8-12 (2 yr 8 mnth 0 d)

    Sun 62-8-12 63-6-0 (0 yr 9 mnth 18 d)

    Moon 63-6-0 64-10-0 (1 yr 4 mnth 0 d)

    Mars 64-10-0 65-9-6 (0 yr 11 mnth 6 d)

From the above table we find that natives father died during Rahu dasa Jupiter Antardasa and

his mother died when the native was running Rahu dasa-Saturn Antardasa.

  • For the 11th house aspect of Rahu refer to the explanations in Virgo Chart 1.

    Month of death of father:

It is stated that natives father died in the month of Sagittarius when Sun was transiting that

sign. Sagittarius is the 8th house of death for father and the native was running the Antardasa of

Jupiter at the time of his fathers death.

I also would like to recall here the opinion of Late Shri R.Santhanam which I have mentioned in many

of my Saptarishi Nadi translations. In his translation of Deva Keralam, he has stated that As stressed by me often in my writings the 4th Lord denotes fathers death while the 5th Lord denotes mothers death.

This technique is widely used in Nadi Granthas. In my own studies, I did find these clues working

    quite effectively.

    BCP Principle:

Fathers death: Age 38 represents the 2nd house which is the 3rd house of longevity of father, from

karaka of father Sun and its lord is debilitated. See the lordship of Mars, it is placed in the 2nd

house of maraka of father (2nd to 9th house) is aspecting Venus. Mars also gets another maraka

portfolio by virtue of his lordship over the 7th house to the 9th house. Jupiter who is aspecting

Venus (lord of focus house of 2nd) is the 8th lord for Pitru Lagna.

Mothers death: Age 40 represents the 4th house of mother. 12th lord of exit to this 4th house is

Mars and is aspecting it. Lord of this 4th house Jupiter has conjoined the 12th house co-lord Ketu.

    BSP Rules:

    Fathers death:

Rule No: 8 On the 38th year of the native Rahu influences the 6th from its placement.

6th from Rahu is the 12th house of exit of father (9th house). Lord of this house is placed in the 2nd

house of maraka for father. In the 6th house to Rahu two planets Moon and Saturn are placed

and both indicate danger to father. While Moon is the 3rd of longevity of father and Saturn

becomes maraka lord from Karaka Sun.

Rule No. 44 Rahus 3rd aspect implements itself in the 38th year of the native.

An article has already appeared in Volume 3 3rd from Dragons head-A Master Key. Readers

may refer to the same for more detailed understanding.

In this chart, 3rd from Rahu is the 5th house of Capricorn. No planets are placed in Capricorn. So

the lord will decide the action. Lord of this house Saturn goes to the 12th house of exit of father.

  • And its dispositor goes to the 2nd house of maraka of father. See how the rule is working in this

    chart.

    Mothers death:

Rule 10: On the 40th year of the native Jupiter influences the house where it sits as well as the 9th

    from it.

Rule 35: Saturns 3rd aspect implements itself in the 40th year of the native.

Rule 38: Ketus 6th aspect implements itself in the 40th year of the native.

So we get the involvement of three planets exercising influence on the native in his 40th year.

Jupiter: 9th aspect falls on Capricorn which is the 2nd house of maraka of mother. Its lord has

conjoined Moon, karaka for mother. Dispositor of Saturn is Mars who goes to the 7th house of

maraka from the 4th house of mother.

Saturn: The 3rd aspect falls on Gemini which becomes the 7th house of maraka for mother. Mars

is placed there and he is 12th lord of exit of mother and also dispositor of karaka Moon.

Dispositor Mercury has no role to play as he is with a strong Sun and Mercury as is his habit

has to toe the line of Sun.

Ketu: 6th house from Ketu is Libra which is aspected by him. This happens to be the maraka

house from karaka Moon. Its Lord is weak having been debilitated and also aspected by Mars

who is placed in the 7th house from the house of mother.

    Period Of Death Of Native

    45. We will now tell about the period of death of the native. When the native is of 65 years3 of

age, in the month of Scorpio (Krittika 15th November to 14th December) in the bright

3 Using BCP, 65th year would be 5H of Capricorn the sign representing knees and arthritis also. Its lord Saturn is placed in the 8H of death. Using BSP, where Saturn sits it gives result in the 66th year, here it seems it gave earlier. This particular BSP was revealed by SA

at the World Mundane Astrology Conference Oct 2010 at Visakapatnam. See example of Indira Gandhi where this particular BSP has given delayed result after 1 year. She is Cn Asc, 8L of death Saturn sits in Lagna (body), she died in the 67th year and not 66th year as per the BSP. - SA

  • half (Sukla Paksha) in Navami tithi native will die due to arthritis. When Vasishtar said

about the death of the native, another Rishi intervened and said that lord of 8th house

    Mars (continued in next verse)

    46.

    .

    46. (continued from previous verse) is placed in the 10th house and hence the native will die

during Mars dasa. When Vasishtar heard this he contradicted and said that Jupiter has

become Lord of 7th house and along with Jupiter Moksha karaka Ketu has joined and

hence death will be only in Jupiter dasa.

    Comments from C.G.Rajan:

Death in Jupiter Dasa: As per Jataka Chandrika, for Virgo Lagna-54th sloka, Mars, Jupiter and

Moon are maraka (death inflicting) planets. Jupiter owns the maraka house of 7th. Hence death

will happen in the 65th year when Jupiter dasa will be running. During this time the Antardasa

of Mars and Moon will be coming. Mars is lord of 8th house of death. According to Jataka

Chandrika 23rd sloka and also as per Thandava Malai 22nd sloka, the planet placed in the maraka

place is more powerful than the lord of the maraka house. Hence Moon which is placed in the

8th house of death has got more powers to inflict death during his Antardasa.

    Comments From Yenbeeyes:

It is stated in the Tamil translation of the sloka that the native will die in Mars dasa due to his

placement in the 10th house and Mars Dasa has been given from age 34 years 2 months and 41

years 2 months. This is presumably wrong as per Dasa calculations given above. In fact Mars

dasa is over at the age of 34 years 2 months.

Now coming to Jataka Chandrika Sloka No. 23 referred to above due to the difference in

numbering of slokas and also since C.G.Rajan is quoting Jataka Chandrika-Ayur Daayam

Chapter quite often, I am reproducing below all the relevant slokas so that this may serve as

future reference while dealing with Maraka results.

Aayurdaayam of Jataka Chandrika: (As per B.Suryanarain Raos translation)

  • Meaning: The 8th house from Lagna and the 8th from that 8th are called houses of life. The 12th

house from these two are called houses of death. Meaning that the 8th house and the 3rd house are

the houses of longevity and the 7th and 2nd houses are maraka houses.

Meaning: The 2nd house is stronger in inflicting death than the 7th; planets who occupy the 2nd

are stronger in killing persons than the lords of the 2nd ; those who are in conjunction with the

lord of the 2nd are still more powerful in causing death.

Meaning: The close of the periods of the planets who are with the lords of the 2nd and 7th houses

causes death; next the periods of the planets who occupy the 2nd and the 7th houses cause death; if

death does not happen in the above circumstances it will be caused in the dasas of the lords of

    the 2nd and 7th houses.

Another translation does not mention about the dasa of lords of 2nd and 7th houses but takes the

lord of the 12th house as the last point.

Meaning: If the periods of the planets occupying or owning death houses do not come in time to

cause death then death may happen in the Dasa of planets who are not Yogakarakas but who are

auspicious and combine with the lords of death houses; if death does not happen in these it must

be predicted in the periods of the lords of the 3rd and 8th houses.

The translation of this sloka varies in many respects in other works:

  • If the main periods of lords of 2nd and 7th houses or the main periods of planets associated with

the lords of 2nd and 7th houses or the periods of planets which are positioned in the 2nd and/or 7th

houses or the period of the lord of the 12th house do not occur in the life of the person, the death

may occur during the period of beneficial planet associated with the lord of the 12th house or

during the period of the good planets associated with the lord of the 8th house.

Meaning: When the periods of death-inflicting planets are not appearing in time to cause death,

the planet most inauspicious in the horoscope will cause death at any time.

Meaning: Sani, inclined to do evil by his conjunction with lords of death houses or those who

have any power to inflict death will cause death in preference to any of those planets.

For this sloka also I find a different version of translation:

If the planet Saturn has the lordship of harmful houses like 11th house and is related to maraka planets,

then Saturn possesses most harmful nature and definitely causes the death of the person.

    22.

    -

    .

Meaning: Out of the two marakas (which are stated as 2nd and 7th house lords in the previous

sloka) 2nd lord is more powerful than the 7th lord. Compared to this, Planets placed in these two

houses as also the planets associated with the lords of these two houses are more powerful.

During this time the native will be subjected to many troubles. He will cross over those

difficulties with the blessings of Lord Vishnu. There will be distress in the family.

    Comments From Yenbeeyes:

Venus is a benefic planet for Virgo Lagna. How then the Rishi states that the native will be

subjected to many troubles. Earlier also while giving reasons for performing the marriage of the

native in a Vishnu temple, rishi has stated that the native was suffering from disease during

Venus dasa when his marriage happened. Venus is debilitated and is aspected by the dire

malefic of Virgo Lagna, Mars. Dispositor of Venus is Mercury and is placed in a dusthana and is

also combust. These reasons can be attributed for all the troubles native faced during Venus

dasa. He could ward off all these troubles because of the aspect of Jupiter.
