WELCOME TOSAP® TEChEd LAS VEgAS

Thank you for joining us at SAP® TechEd, our premier technical conference. Join me on Tuesday morning for my keynote. This year is all about the SAP hANA® platform as an open platform for new innovation and how this platform enables you to build applications that were not possible before.

Now in its 16th year, SAP TechEd gives you the opportunity to network and take advantage of extraordinary educational sessions to meet your professional and business goals. Take the opportunity to learn about the latest innovations in database, analytics, in-memory, and mobile technologies from SAP. Most important, learn how you will benefit from the convergence of technologies and an open SAP hANA platform. SAP TechEd will deliver more than 1,000 hours of technical sessions focused on SAP technology, including SAP hANA, the SAP NetWeaver technology platform, the SAP BusinessObjects™ Business Intelligence platform, and SAP Mobile Platform.

Attend technical sessions and visit the show floor to connect and network with our ecosystem of customers, partners, and employees. There you will find the Expert Networking Lounge, Q&A sessions with speakers, and the Technology Showcase where you can get hands-on access to the latest SAP technologies. On Tuesday evening, vote for the best live demo of the night at demo Jam. Tour the partner exhibit hall to see our most strategic partners show their latest innovations. And finally, visit the Clubhouse on the show floor to take a break, connect with colleagues, and recharge. Wrap up your week at our Thursday evening concert with 3 doors down.

Enjoy your time here in Las Vegas!

Clay ShirkyClay Shirky is today’s leading voice on the social and economic impact of Internet technologies. Considered one of the finest thinkers on the Internet revolution, Shirky provides an insightful and optimistic view of networks, social software, and technology’s effects on society. Writing extensively about the Internet since 1996, he is the author of the best-selling Here Comes Everybody and Cognitive Surplus. In Here Comes Everybody – selected by Guardian as one of the 100 greatest nonfiction books of all time – Shirky explores how organizations and industries are being upended by open networks, collaboration, and user appropriation of content production and dissemination. Cognitive Surplus reveals how new technology is changing us from consumers to collaborators, unleashing a torrent of creative production that will transform our world.

Clay holds a joint appointment at New York University (NYU) as an associate arts professor at the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) and as a distinguished writer in residence in the journalism department. he is also a fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society and was the Edward r. Murrow Visiting Lecturer at harvard’s Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics, and Public Policy in 2010.

Over the years, he has had regular columns in Business 2.0 and FEED, among other publications, and his writings have appeared in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, Wired, Computerworld, and Foreign Affairs. In addition to writing, Clay has a consulting practice focused on the rise of decentralized technologies such as peer-to-peer, Web services, and wireless networks that provide alternatives to the wired client-server infrastructure that characterizes the Web.

Prior to his appointment at NYU, Shirky was a partner at the invest-ment firm the Accelerator group, an international investment company. Shirky was the original professor of new media in the media studies department at hunter College, where he created the department’s first undergraduate and graduate offerings in new media and helped design the current MFA in Integrated Media Arts program.

SUSTAINABILITy

In line with SAP corporate strategy and policies, SAP TechEd is committed to continuously improving our operations, marketing, and events to become more sustainable. Below you will find some of our sustainability initiatives. Learn more at www.sapteched.com/12/usa/activities/sustainability.htm.

To reduce paper waste, we:

• Offer the choice during the registration process to opt out of receiving printed session schedules and abstracts that we normally provide at check-in

• display conference and session information digitally, including online access to session handouts, on-site session schedule tickers, and a mobile on-site guide

• Continue to limit printed handouts and the size of the printed on-site guide

• Use recycled paper (printed on both sides whenever possible)

• Provide each full conference attendee with a gift of a USB flash drive containing session material PdFs, instead of a conference backpack

• reuse banners and decorative materials at other events whenever possible

We also partner with the Venetian, the Palazzo, and the Sands Expo and Convention Center to reduce our environmental impact in the following ways:

• Provide water coolers and individual reusable water bottles (prewashed and distributed to attendees at registration)

• Sort all waste collected throughout the meeting space and recycle and compost as much as possible (Note: There are no separate recycling receptacles.)

• Use cleaning products that are low volatile organic compound (VOC) in the meeting space and guest rooms

SESSION SPECIFICSSESSION TYPES

Lecture SessionsOne-hour and two-hour lecture sessions are open to all attendees on a first-come, first-served basis only. Adding a lecture session to your personal agenda does not guarantee a seat.

Hands-On WorkshopsIn two-hour and four-hour hands-on workshops, two students share one laptop. Full conference registrants may reserve up to two workshop seats. The cutoff for reserving seats is 8:00 p.m. the evening before the workshop. Advance sign-up is required for reserved seating and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. registrants must claim their reserved seats before the start of a hands-on workshop.

Full conference registrants may attend any hands-on workshop with open seats, including audit seats, at the start of the workshop on a first-come, first-served basis.

Q&A Sessions on the Show FloorSpeaker Q&A sessions complement the lectures and hands-on workshops, giving you extra time to ask speakers detailed follow-up questions related to session topics. road map Q&A sessions focus on specific solution and product road maps that are covered in the sessions. Stop by any time within the scheduled one-hour Q&A session. Space is limited, and we want you to have quality time with these experts. So if a Q&A session is busy when you first arrive, just come back a little later within the scheduled time for that topic.

Expert Networking Sessions on the Show FloorIn 30-minute face-to-face small group sessions, experts host open discussions on specific topics, answer questions, or simply spend quality time networking with attendees. Experts include SAP TechEd conference speakers, SAP mentors, demo Jam finalists, SAP executives, and SAP partners, among others.

Important: We reserve the right to release any unclaimed seat at the scheduled start of a hands-on workshop, so plan to arrive early. Arriving even one minute late may result in forfeiture of your seat.
