    WHAT HAS BEEN

    HAPPENING

    Hi All.

As some of you may have

heard I now have a new

job. I went looking for a

    winter part time job and

    ended up being offered a

    full time 2yr fixed term

    contract position that was

    simply too good to turn

    down - working for the

    Waimakariri District

    Council facilitating their

change to a new ITplatform. I love teaching

    Parelli and am still

    heading over to Colorado

    to undertake the

    Internship in August, but

    with all the expense of

    recent years travelling to

    become a licensed Parelli

    Professional it was time to

    put some money back in

    the bank. I still intend

teaching, but my focus forthe coming summer will

    be on focus groups and

    workshops. I will keep you

    all informed of my plans.

    COLT START COURSE

    What an experience this

    course was. Funny how

    each time you are ready

    the teacher seems to

    appear. I travelled over

    to Sydney at the

    beginning of May and

    spent 3 weeks learning

    Pats process for starting

    young horses under

    saddle. What a fantastic

    process. The process

    stepped seamlessly from

one thing to the next with

    the colts (unstarted fillies,

    mares and geldings) not

    knowing they were even

    learning. The picture

    below is the horse Cass

    that I ended up starting.

It was a pleasure to be

    part of and lifted my

    horsemanship to a whole

    new level. Rob McAuliffe

    and Berin McFarlane were

    fabulous teachers and the

    group of international

    students (6 Aussies, 5 from

UK, 1 from France, 1 from

    Ireland and me from NZ)

that I was lucky enough tospent the 3 weeks with,

    were wonderful! I would

    highly recommend this

    course to anyone wanting

    to seriously improve their

    horsemanship. I think it

    improved my

    horsemanship more than

    any other course to date.

    INTERNSHIP Aug/Sept

    2013

On the 10th of August I

    leave for the Colorado

    campus in the USA again

    to complete an Internship.

This means I will be therefor 6 weeks learning from

    the best, which is again

    incredibly exciting. During

this time I will be assisting

    instructing a fast track

    course which is almost

    unbelievable as it feels like

    I only just completed

    mine.

    I will be doing regular

    facebook & Parelli

    Connect updates for

    anyone interested in

keeping up with what I am

    doing over there.

    I have again been lucky

enough to secure thefabulous lease horse

    Smokey that I had last

year, so I am really looking

    forward to that. This

    internship is focused on

    teaching, with us teaching

    the Fast Track course that

    will be there during our

    internship. This is incredibly

    exciting from the angle of

what I will learn as far as

savvy goes but alsolearning the format,

    content and delivery of

    such a high level course.

    Exciting times.

    RUSSELL HIGGINS CLINICS

    Russell was here in March

    and ran two extremely

    successful clinics. We

started with a level 2 clinic

followed by a level 3 clinic

    the following weekend.

    The clinics were full to

    brimming, which was

    fantastic.

A highlight for me withthese clinics was being

able to assist & learn from

    Russell as well as having

    Instructors Sarah Onley

    (UK) and Kate OReilly

    here assisting as well.

    The feedback from the

    participants was excellent

    and Russell is organised for

    a repeat round early 2014!

    When we have dates

confirmed I will let you all

    know. These clinics filled

    incredibly fast last time, so

get in early so as not to be

    disappointed.

    WORKSHOPS

    In the past couple of

    months between my trips

    over to Australia we have

    run a Stability and

    confidence in the saddle

    which was fully booked

    and very successful along

    with a Ropes and Tools

    workshop that

    included everything from

    a very enlightening

    obstacle course to rope

    tossing and coiling that

    tested everyones skills.

    These workshops will

    definitely be on the

    program next summer!

    POT LUCK CURRY

    & FUN SOCIAL EVENING

    Saturday 20 July 7pm @

    our place

    Before heading over to

    the USA again we thought

it might be fun to have a

    mid winters catchup with

    anyone who wants to

come. So we havedecided to have a pot

    luck Curry/dessert night

    which will be followed by

    a couple of fun activities

for all to enjoy. All you

need to do is bring you

    own favourite curry

    OR

    a dessert (either can be

    homemade or brought).

Tony and I will supply the

    bread (Yum - Tonys

    amazing homemade

    bread for those who have

    already tried it) and the

rice so you only need to

    bring a curry or dessert.

    This free social evening is

    open to anyone who

    wants to come, and their

    partners (for those that

    want to join the

    enthusiastic Parelli-ites!).

    Please RSVP to us with

    numbers and if you are

    bringing a curry or dessert,

    so we know how much

rice to make, by the 16th

    July 2013. Please note that

    we may have to limit

    numbers to make sure we

can fit everyone in, so if

    you intend to come,

    please let me know asap!

I CAN TEACH LEVEL 4!Thank you to everyone for

    your patience for those

    wanting me to teach you

    level 4. My licensing

    requires me to have held

    Level 4 for a year before I

    can teach it, well finally

    that time has come. I

    passed my Level 4 Online

    5 March 2012 and

    Freestyle on the 26 June

2012. So I can now teachLevel 4, Online & Freestyle

    which is very exciting.

    Please excuse the over

    enthusiastic amount of

clipart, but it is winter and

    sometimes you need a

little bit of fun to brighten

    up the dark nights!

Well I hope you can all

    come to the Curry night

(even if you dont likecurry as hopefully there

will be a few nice desserts

as well) so I can catch up

    with you before I head

    away to the US again.

    Take care, keep warm

    and look forward to

    Spring!

    All the best

    Sandy
