In·service SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
In·tro·spective FROM THE PASTOR It is always difficult to lose
a staff person, especially
a er working with him or
her for more than four
years. Not only do you get
to know the individual’s
talents and heart, but you
also build a las ng friend‐
ship with that person. This
being said, it was difficult
to tell Liz Saunders that
she “could” re re, but I did
and wished her well. My
fear was that we would be
unable to find someone
who was as good a “face”
for the office as Liz had
been. The Lord supplied
that need in Nanci Maples.
Nanci fits perfectly with
our staff, from personality
to ability; not to say, that
she keeps a bowl of candy
on her desk to test my will‐
power (it’s chocolate).
Jeannie walked by Nanci’s
desk last Wednesday night
and said, “”I can see that
Nanci may be a problem,”
as she reached to get a cou‐
ple pieces of candy. We are
happy and blessed to have
Nanci join us at SPBC and
invite all of you to stop by
the office when you have
me and introduce yourself
to her. I know you will like
her!
I hope you are making plans
to join us in our four‐weeks
of home groups through the
month of July. We will use
the book by Phil Robertson,
Happy, Happy, Happy as a
guide for our discussions. If
you are not familiar with
him, he is the patriarch on
the hit television program
Duck Dynasty. He is a
strong Chris an with a
great sense of humor and a
down‐to‐earth disposi on.
Home groups are not only a
comfortable way to discuss
spiritual issues, but also a
great way to establish and
strengthen rela onships.
I wish to thank the deacons,
especially Sam Hill and Joe
Ballew, for the work and
organiza on done to honor
our widows and widowers.
This banquet is a token of
our apprecia on to and
love for these people who
are not just a part of the
church, but part of our fam‐
ily.
Blessings,
Pastor Al

Sam Storms writes on wor‐

Books: Wheaton, IL 2009),
180‐184.
Sam reports how a man
once approached him and
told him, undoubtedly sin‐
cerely, that he was uncom‐
fortable with the way Sam
worshiped. Sam’s reply?
“I’m certainly open to cor‐
rec on, and I’m sorry you
were offended, but I’m not
par cularly concerned with
what puts you at ease.

you are the object of my

FROM THE LEADERSHIP
TEAM
As you read this ar cle, a
new roof is being installed
on the Fellowship Hall.
Cost: $42,000. This was a
“have to” job that required
funding to come from our
reserve funds. That means
we have to be diligent the
rest of the year to stay
within the budget. We do
appreciate all organiza ons
