SandvikScreens

Sandvik offers you a wide range ofquality screens. But that is not all. Many of our sales people have along experience with numeroustypes of screens and are well quali-fied to help you select the rightequipment for your plant. Sandvikhas supplied customers with crush-ing & screening equipment for overhalf a century. Whether you need astand-alone screen or a completeprocess solution, Sandvik can pro-vide you with equipment that iseasy to install and fully function-ing from day one.

SCREENS FOR

ALL APPLICATIONS

Vibrating equipment commonlyused for separating differentgrades of crushed minerals useseither stratification (screeningwith a vibrating bed) or free-fallscreening.

Conventional screens used inthe aggregate industry have greatversatility as regards separationlimits and material size processed. They work on the stratification

principle; the vibration of themachine sifts the material bed sothat finer material passes throughthe coarser material. This enablesparticles smaller than the mesh ofthe screen to pass through it.

Screens operating on the free-

fall principle have been developedas an alternative to conventionalscreens. They are used successfullyin both mobile and stationary

A great range of screens for all applications

plants. Sandvik have further devel-oped simple free-fall screening bybuilding each deck in several sec-tions and optimizing the inclina-tion of the deck sections. Free-fallscreens can be built much shorterand with smaller footprint thanconventional screens of compara-ble capacities.

Sometimes, non-abrasive, softor sticky materials and materialswith high moisture content arebest screened with equipment thatdoes not rely on vibration as anoperating principle. Sandvik offersroller screens that are ideal forcareful screening of such materials.

A FULL RANGE OF

SCREENING MEDIA

A reliable, efficient screen is notthe only thing you need for opti-mizing your screening process. Anefficient screen also needs efficientwear protection, dust encapsula-tion and screening media products, thus satisfying increased require-ments for clean air, efficient pro-duction and high up-time.

XS PRIMARY SCREEN

The primary XS screens are circularmotion inclined screens with two orthree decks, and can be fitted withwire mesh, polyurethane and rubberscreening media or steel plate on thetop deck. They are heavy and havemore powerful motors and drivesthan a regular circular motion screen. The primary screens have beendesigned for screening immediatelyafter a primary crushing operation, allowing a maximum feed size of upto 400 mm.

CS CLASSIFICATION SCREEN

The CS classification screens are in-tended for heavy-duty, medium andfine screening applications. The screensare circular motion inclined screens

in two, three and four deck designs.Standard inclination is 18-20 degrees, depending on the size of the machine. The decks can be equipped with anykind of modern screening media ofpolyurethane and rubber, wire meshor steel plate.

The CS range of screens is builtfor general quarrying applicationsand with a separation range from80 mm to 2 mm. The maximum feedsize is generally limited to 150 mm,depending somewhat on the selectedscreening media. The CS screens canalso be used as splitter screens todivide flows within a plant and arefrequently used for final screening offinished fractions. This range is alsoavailable with a successful waterspray system.

MSO CLASSIFICATION SCREEN

The MSO inclined screen has circu-lar motion stroke in the center of thescreen and elliptical stroke at thefeed and discharge end. The primaryadvantage of that is that it increasesthe material speed at the feed endwhile at the same time it decreasesthe material speed at the dischargeend. It is evident that the combinedeffect of these aspects will result in amore accurate screening, especiallywith short fractions. Screens areavailable with 1, 2 or 3 decks in thestandard range of screens and halfdecks are available as an option. The MSO is a classification screenusing the same mechanism as the LFscreen. MSO has a maximum feedsize of up to 300 mm and a separa-tion of 140-2 mm.

LF LINEAR MOTION SCREENS

The LF screens have numerous advan-tages. Among them are: maintenancefriendliness, high capacity and com-pact design.

The horizontal LF screen serieshas been purpose-designed for classi-fication screening duties as well asfor scalping ahead of a cone crusherin mining applications. These screensare available with 1, 2 or 3 decks butalso with half decks as an option.

LF is an excellent choice wherethe height is limited by surroundingfacilities, for the screening of smalland short fractions and when heavymaterial is loaded on the screen.

The linear or elliptical stroke im-proves the screening. Lf screens havea maximum feed size up to 300 mmand a separation range from 100-1 mm.

ADJUSTABILITY

The screen performance can easily bemodified according to existing con-ditions by adjusting the followingfactors: screen angle (i.e. adjustablespring seats), stroke angle (i.e. move-able vibrating mechanism), strokelength, rotation speed (i.e. transmis-sion timing belt pulley) and the shapeof the stroke (i.e. from “thin” ellipseto linear).

MINING VERSION

The LF screens have been successfullyused in heavy mining applications.Apart from all standard deliverycomponents, the mining version in-cludes among others: discharge/feedbox decks and sides with replaceablerubber liners, wear guard heavy dutydeck protection, thicker rubber linerat the bottom of the feed box, etc.

SandvikGrizzly screens

SG-H GRIZZLY SCREEN

The SG-H circular motion screensare recommended for installationbetween a primary feeder and aprimary crusher.

Typical feed material is blastedrock, ripped rock or gravel withhigh fines content, often containingdifficult wet natural fines or clay. These screens have a single grizzlyor plate type of scalping deck withthe option of a second deck withwoven wire. SG-H screens immedi-ately after a primary feeder givemore effective scalping than a pri-mary feeder with a built-in grizzly. The stroke and speed of the screenremain constant while the feed rateis adjusted by varying the feederspeed providing efficient separationat all times.

SG GRIZZLY SCREENS

The SG linear motion screens havebeen designed specifically for heavyscalping duties with the main pur-pose of removing fines from the feedbefore primary crushing. In conjunc-tion with a facility for bypassingfines ahead of the crusher, SG screenscan be combined with reciprocatingtable feeders when heavy dump loadsand high capacities are required.

All SG screens have their vibratingmechanism mounted under the feedpan. The double shaft mechanismgenerates an elliptical stroke, whichconsequently means better feeding aswell as a sustained material speed onthe screen. The screens are availablewith 2, 3 and 4 grizzly steps for thesingle deck models, depending on the

size of the screen. The double deckmodels are equipped with threegrizzly steps on the top deck andwire or rubber media on the bottomdeck. The drive unit incorporatestwo motors with cardan shafts, meaning that neither gearbox norgearwheels are necessary - themechanism is self-synchronizing.The components of the mechanismare mainly the same as for the LFand MSO screens. SG has a maxi-mum feed size of up to 500 mm anda separation of up to 250 mm.

Robust grizzly screens for tough primary screening of blasted rock, ripped rock

or gravel with a high fines content, as well as designed for heavy duty scalping,

with the main purpose of removing fines from the feed before primary crushing

SandvikFree-fall screens

The free-fall screening principle en-ables quick removal of large amountsof fines, using steeply inclined decksand effective linear stroke almostperpendicular to the deck. The free-fall screening principle has uniqueaccuracy characteristics. Indeed, since the velocity of oversize particlesis quite high, each particle has a limit-ed number of chances to pass a slot.

SS FREE-FALL SCREEN

The main advantage of the SS screensis their ability to handle large loadsof material despite their modest size. This screen is often used instead of aslot sizer for removal of natural finesbefore crushers, for separation ofmaterial for different crushing stagesand for final products of natural

of the high capacity associated withfree-fall screening and the good sepa-ration accuracy known from hori-zontal screening. Another positiveside effect is the compactness of themachine.

Offered in three sizes, SF screenscombine quick fines removal andaccurate sizing, making possible muchshorter construction of the screenthan with a conventional screen, butwith the same width throughput ca-pacity and screening accuracy. Thisfigure will be even greater with eva-luation of a complete station, due toits light-weight design, consequentlygiving extremely low dynamic loadsto the structure.

gravel (scalping, closed circuit screen-ing and final product screening ofgravel). Suitable screening media arerubber, wire or plate elements for thetop deck, and wire mesh at the lowerdeck(s).

The heavy-duty version SS-H isnormally used after larger crushers, giving a maximum feed size of over150 mm.

SF FREE-FALL SCREEN

SF screens share some of the samebasic design principles of the SSscreen. The SF screen incorporatestwo different screening sections oneach deck. This provides a free-fallaction in the first section and a moreaccurate stratification in the secondsection. The result is a combination

SS

SF

Compact, high-capacity screens with steeply inclined decks and a linear throw: SS models

for scalping after crushers and for closed-circuit screening, SF models also for final sizing

The free-fall screening principle

ensures a free flow of material

through all the decks. SS free-fall

screens can be of much shorter

construction and more compact

than conventional screens.

Free-fall screening ensures that

each stone can pass the screen

early on. The cloth is always

exposed to new material, without

creating a bed of material.

SF screens use free-fall screening

without a bed on the first part of

each deck, but combine it with

stratification screening with a bed

on the final part.

Therefore, SF screens combine

quick fines removal and accurate

sizing, making possible much

shorter construction of the

screen than with a conventional

screen, but with the same width

throughput capacity and screening

accuracy.

SandvikRoller screens

SR ROLLER GRIZZLY

The roller grizzly has been designedfor scalping and screening duties oflow abrasive materials with an abra-sion index (Ai) below 0.03, such aslimestone and coal. The roller grizzlyis compact and its ability to handlehigh capacities and moist materialhas been proven in many applications. It is available for both primary andsecondary duties, depending on themaximum feed size.

In order to achieve the best possi-ble screening results it is importantto spread the feed along the entirewidth of the screen. The drop heightof the material should be as low aspossible.

SR ROLLER SCREENS

Roller screens have been primarilydesigned for coal, lignite and lime-stone screening. These screens aresuperior to vibrating equipment andminimize blinding when the materialis sticky and exhibits high moisturecontent. No vibration is transferredto the support structure and the com-pact size and high capacity range makethese screens highly competitive.

The roller screen with casted discsand spacers has been built for ROM(run of mine) coal screening. Theroller screen with steel tube rollers isbest used for secondary applications, for instance when screening washedcoal. The roller screen with ellipticalrollers is suited for 4-20 mm screen-ing, such as screening in one dimen-sion only.

ROLLER SCREEN CRUSHER

The roller screen crusher has beenespecially designed to remove impuri-ties of washed coal as well as to crushdown existing coal lumps to accept-able sizes in coal-fired power plants. The roller screen crusher comescomplete with dust encapsulation,pre-screen, two crusher drums andafter-screen. A pre-crusher might benecessary to put on top of the pre-screen if many lumps are present, forinstance with frozen coal. The crush-er drums have a releasing mechanismto enable wood pieces, stones andother impurities to be rejected. Thesensitivity of the release mechanismis adjustable.
