  • The Office of Sustainability is:

    A Program initially created as a one-year pilot as part of the County Manager’s Office to oversee and coordinating stormwater work and centralize County sustainability initiatives.

  • Who we are:

    • Started with a staff of three, then seven staff in Year 1

    • June 2015 Budget Hearings with BOS – Merger approved to include staff from the Public Works RecycleWorks and Energy Watch programs

    • In addition, staff from the North Fair Oaks Community Outreach Program also joined the Office of Sustainability

    • And Surplus Property staff

    • Now we are 30 staff

  • What we do:

    A. Four (4) Core Functions (Initially)

    a. Stormwater NPDES Municipal Regional Permit (MRP)

    b. Fitzgerald Marine Reserve Area of Special Biological Significance (ASBS)

    c. Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs)

  • How Does It Work?

    CCE leverages the market power of group purchasing and local control.

    CCE allows communities to pool their electricity demand in order to purchase and potentially develop power on behalf of local residents, businesses, and municipal facilities.

  • PURPOSE: • Drive energy efficiency projects for “hard-to-reach” customers –

    small businesses, nonprofits, schools, farms, local governments, lower income residential • Assist cities with climate action planning and implementation
