SUMMER ADVENTURES at Southwestern Academy offers students in grades 7th – 12th different summer programs that uniquely combine classroom education with fun, exciting and exceptional activities allowing students to enjoy their summer while exploring new opportunities in and out of the classroom. These include some classes that earn credits for graduation and to explore and enhance one’s knowledge of Southern California and northern Arizona’s rich artistic, cultural, and historical wonders.

Our small classes and enthusiastic faculty provide opportunities to link college preparatory academics with many of the most popular educational and recreational sites in the area. Classes are offered

for credit, advancement, enrichment and review with individual attention given to each student --all surrounded by an energetic and spirited atmosphere. The Summer Adventures Program enables students to enhance their self-reliance and confidence both academically and socially while making new friends from around the world. The low student – teacher ratio provides a nurturing and supportive environment, establishing a community of scholars and leaders which underscores our school’s core values.

Whether a student attends the Southern California or northern Arizona campus, Summer Adventures at Southwestern Academy is where they may excel, grow and truly belong.

SAN MARINO, CALIFORNIA

The San Marino campus is located in one of the most beautiful residential neighborhoods in Southern California, minutes away from Pasadena and Los Angeles. A campus covering more than eight acres in a quiet and serene community, this is the perfect location for middle and high school students to board, study, and enjoy summer.

Students may select from a wide range of core courses in English, History,

Mathematics and Science. They may also choose electives that include music, fine art, and multimedia.

Intensive English as a Second Language (ESL), and SAT / TOEFL classes are available for students who wish to improve their language and test taking skills. Weekly weekday sports tournaments are an integral part of our program and allow students to have fun and grow in camaraderie.

Each week, educational field trips head to southern California’s beaches, museums, local universities, and theatre performances, along with with fun trips to Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Raging Waters, Universal Studios and numerous other exciting locations. Located in the heart of the Los Angeles area, the San Marino campus provides easy access to these venues, allowing for wonderful and exciting opportunities.

RIMROCK, ARIZONA

The Beaver Creek Ranch campus is located in the red rock canyon country of the Coconino National Forest, 12 miles from beautiful Sedona, Arizona. The 185 acre campus site is at a 3,500-foot elevation which allows for lower summer temperatures, making the Beaver Creek Ranch campus an ideal place for enhancing academic skills, making new friends and enjoying the beautiful outdoors.

ESL Classes are designed to enhance reading, writing, and conversational English, coupled with mathematics. Students gain academic confidence, master challenging material, and improve their study habits while enjoying exciting outdoor activities such as horseback riding, camping, swimming, fishing, hiking and mountain biking in Arizona’s famous Red Rock Country.

Each student has the opportunity to visit the Grand Canyon, Montezuma Castle National Monument, the Arizona Science Center, Lowell Observatory and many other fascinating places during weekly educational field trips. Come join us for a fun summer of learning and exploring in the unique beauty of the American southwest.
