A Message from our SDA Foundation President

During 2006-2007, your generous gifts to the Foundation totaled over $135,000.00 and enabled us to benefit all students. Just a few of the programs we supported were:

• New science equipment and laptop computers with scientific software • An on-campus Writing Lab to offset the effect of the larger English class sizes and meet the

need for more intense writing preparation by having dedicated tutors during class time. • New silk screening equipment to meet the increased class room demands • Clay press for art projects • Library on-line software to improve internet research skills

Inspired by the community’s concern for our students’ progress, the San Dieguito Academy Foundation raised our fundraising goal this year to $250,000.00. We are confident that we can help our students meet their objectives by continuing to develop the Writing Lab, introducing a multimedia Learning System Language Lab, and supporting our math curriculum. This year also inaugurates our capital campaign in support of the proposed San Dieguito Academy Performing Arts Center. We’re calling it “Imagine the Possibilities.” San Dieguito’s students deserve a facility to showcase their talents that is worthy of their achieve-ments. Our school board recognized that need and approved over 4 million dollars funding for its construction. Our capital campaign will match that and help to make the Performing Arts Center a reality. In the coming months, you’ll hear more about how you can participate in this exciting campaign to develop a new arts venue that is sure to become the new face of San Dieguito and the cultural heart of our community. As we continue San Dieguito’s 70th anniversary celebration, I am struck by the legacy of distinction which has been entrusted to us. I’m invigorated by your support and the opportunity we have to continue San Dieguito’s vision into the future. Help us “imagine the possibilities” of San Dieguito! Sincerely,

Marla Strich Marla Strich, SDAF President

Dear San Dieguito families and friends, The 2006-2007 school year marked the beginning of our 70th anniversary celebration, making San Dieguito one of the oldest public high schools in North Coastal San Diego. This milestone in our history inspires me to reflect on the ways in which San Dieguito has played a crucial role in the development of so many generations of young people. Throughout its 70 years, San Dieguito’s history of academic excellence has equipped its students with the skills and confi-dence they needed to achieve their dreams, dreams which were often first conceived in its nurturing atmosphere. As they welcome the 21st century, San Dieguito’s staff and teachers are committed to building on its illustrious past by creating a unique learning environment to guide its future. The mission of the San Dieguito Academy Foundation is to generate the finances necessary to give our students the resources they need to realize their potential and maintain our tradition of excellence. This past year proved that our parents, teachers, alumni and community members support that mission. For that, the students of San Dieguito Academy are very grateful. Due to the overwhelming support of the San Dieguito community, the SDA Foundation helped equip our new Library/Media Center, the first new building to grace our campus in thirty years. With its state-of-the-art video production facilities and computers available for all students, the new library is quickly becoming the campus meeting place we envisioned. It is the heart of our school.
