    Assembling

    Charge the battery

    Beore using the device or the irst time, you mustcharge the battery.

    Use only Samsung-approved chargers and cables.Unauthorised chargers or cables can causebatteries to explode or damage your device.

    I the battery is completely discharged, you cannotturn on the device, even with the travel adapterconnected. Allow a depleted battery to charge ora ew minutes beore you try to turn on the device.

    Plug the small end o the travel adapter into the1.multiunction jack.

    Connecting the travel adapter improperly maycause serious damage to the device. Any damagecaused by misuse is not covered by the warranty.

    Plug the large end o the travel adapter into a2.power outlet.

    While the device is charging, the touch screen maynot unction due to an unstable power supply. Ithis happens, unplug the travel adapter rom the

    device.

    When the battery is ully charged, rst unplug the3.travel adapter rom the device and then rom thepower outlet.

    Do not remove the battery beore removing thetravel adapter. Doing so may cause damage tothe device.

    To save energy, unplug the travel adapter whennot in use. The travel adapter does not have apower switch, so you must unplug the travel

    adapter rom the outlet to interrupt the powersupply. The travel adapter should remain close tothe socket when in use.

    Your devices touch screen lets you easily select items

    Idle screen

    When the device is in Idle mode, you will see the idlescreen. From the idle screen, you can view indicatoricons, widgets, shortcuts to applications, and otheritems.

    The idle screen has multiple panels. Scroll let or right toa panel o the idle screen.

    You can change the idle screen mode. Depending on

    the idle screen mode, the method or accessing Menumode and the layout o menus may dier.

    Indicator icons

    Indicator icons show the signal strength, device status,

    current time, and other inormation at the top o thescreen.

    Widgets

    You can use various widgets that provide convenient

    unctions and inormation on your idle screen. Add awidget to the idle screen or remove the widget to thetrash bin.

    Shortcuts panel

    From the shortcuts panel, you can use shortcut menusand access a list o notiications, such as new messages,upcoming events, and processing status. Tap theindicator icons area at the top o the screen and dragyour inger down to open the shortcuts panel. To hidethe panel, drag the bottom o the list up.

    Access applications

    In Idle mode, select1. Applications or to accessMenu mode.

    Scroll let or right to another menu screen (i2.necessary).

    Select an application.3.

    Press [4. ] to return to the previous screen; Press

    the Home key to return to the idle screen.

    Access recent applications

    Press and hold the Home key to view the applicationsyou have accessed recently.

    Launch multiple applications

    Your device allows you to multi-task by runningmultiple applications at the same time.

    To launch multiple applications, press the Home keywhile using an application to Idle mode, and thenselect an application to launch.

    Enter text

    You can enter text with the virtual keypads or in

    handwriting mode. You can also use editing options tocopy and paste text.

    Swype keypad

    With the Swype keypad, you can enter text by sliding

    across characters on the keypad. Tap the irst charactero a word, drag to the ollowing characters, and releaseyour inger on the last character.

    Samsung keypad

    The Samsung keypad provides dierent keypad types(such as QWERTY and 3x4 keypads) and a handwritingmode.

    When entering text with the QWERTY or 3x4 keypad,use the predictive text eature. This eature will predictthe word you are entering and display suggestions.

    When entering text, rotate the device to displaythe QWERTY keypad in a widescreen layout.

    Make or answer a call

    You can make a call by entering a phone number orselecting a number in your contact list. You can alsoaccess the call log to redial recently dialled numbers.

    Open the dialling screen, enter a phone number, andselect . To make a video call, select .

    Answer a call

    When a call comes in, drag right until it reaches theangled bracket.

    Send and receive messages

    You can create and send text (SMS), multimedia (MMS),or email messages, and view or manage messages youhave sent or received.

    You may incur additional charges or sendingor receiving messages while outside your homeservice area. For details, contact your serviceprovider.

    Text and multimedia message

    You can create and send a simple text message or amultimedia message which can contain text, image,video, and sound iles.

    Email message

    You can use the email application to send emailmessages on your device. Beore you send and receiveemail messages, you must add an email account.

    Connect to the internet

    You can connect to the wireless web by using the

    WLAN eature or mobile network connections. Openthe web application and browse web pages. You canbookmark your avourite web pages or use various weboptions.

    Activate the mobile tracker

    The mobile tracker eature helps you locate and recover

    your device. When someone inserts a new SIM orUSIM card in your device, the mobile tracker eaturewill automatically send the contact number to yourspeciied recipients.

    Comply with all saety warnings and regulationsregarding mobile device usage while operatinga vehicleWhile driving, saely operating the vehicle is your rst responsibility. Never

    use your mobile device while driving, i it is prohibited by law. For your saetyand the saety o others, practice good common sense and remember theollowing tips:

    Use a hands-ree device.

    Get to know your device and its convenience eatures, such as speed dialand redial. These eatures help you reduce the time needed to place orreceive calls on your mobile device.

    Position your device within easy reach. Be able to access your wirelessdevice without removing your eyes rom the road. I you receive anincoming call at an inconvenient time, let your voice mail answer it or you.

    Let the person you are speaking with know you are driving. Suspend callsin heavy trac or hazardous weather conditions. Rain, sleet, snow, ice, andheavy trac can be hazardous.

    Proper care and use o your mobile device

    Keep your device dryHumidity and all types o liquids may damage device parts or electroniccircuits.

    When wet, remove the battery without turning on your device. Dry yourdevice with a towel and take it to a service centre.

    Liquids will change the colour o the label that indicates waterdamage inside the device. Water damage to your device can void yourmanuacturers warranty.

    Do not use or store your device in dusty, dirty areas

    Dust can cause your device to malunction.

    Do not store your device on slopes
