Mt. Hood Country Store
W e are dedicated to providing a unique and welcoming experience whether in our store or
utilizing our off-site services. Our little piece of country charm has been here since 1932, historically as the local post office and feed shop, and now as a local grocery, deli and taproom for locals and visitors alike.
While we are a general store, your experience will not end simply with a bag of groceries. You’ll find our 6 rotating microbrew taps as well as the largest bottled microbrew selection in the Hood River Valley, all accompanied by a lovely selection of local wines. We also feature gorge-spe-cific giftware including apparel, pottery, jams and jellies, fresh flowers, and metal-art.
Our deli features an espresso bar, homemade breakfast and lunch, along with soups, sandwiches, and desserts made from scratch. Indoor tables along with courtyard seating can accomodate business meetings, small gatherings, fund-raisers, and private parties. Beer on tap and in the bottle is available for these events along with catering.
From all of us at the Mt. Hood Country Store - we hope to see you in the store and around the Upper Valley helping to make your events spectacular.

Although this Zinfandel is excellent with grilled foods, spicy Mediterranean dishes and party-friendly tapas, I also love it with chocolate.
Dense, rich, sinful (or should I say “zinful”) chocolate. Below is a recipe my mother has been making for at least 30 years – often by
request, always adored, and absolutely perfect with this Zin. READ MORE

ABOUT OUR OREGON WINERY
FREE OREGON WINE TASTING DAILY FROM 11-5
We hope you'll join us at our Hood River, Oregon Winery
for a wonderful experience. You can take as long as you
like. Enjoy our wines, bring a picnic and lunch on our
grounds, or use Cathedral Ridge as the jumping off point
for a memorable trip through the Columbia Gorge area
and its' wines.
A PLACE LIKE NO OTHERThe Columbia Gorge is a special place known for stunning
vistas, pristine landscape and world famous windsurfing.
It's also a premier grape growing region like no other,
recently christened the Columbia Gorge AVA and the area
is becoming famous for its' wines. So when the opportunity
arose for Robb Bell to purchase Cathedral Ridge Winery
(formerly Flerchinger Vineyards), he jumped at the chance.
This Oregon winery sits in a terrific location high on a ridge
above the Columbia Gorge with Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams

as a backdrop.
WHAT’S IN A NAME
Mt. Hood towers over the area at 11,239. Called Wyeast by Native Americans, legend has it that the
passionate rivalry between two chiefs over the same woman led to their fiery transformation into active
volcanoes, with Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams competing in majestic beauty for the affection of Mt. St. Helens.
When you look at Mt. Hood you'll notice a striking feature, a knife edge ridge running off the summit to
the Northwest. This is Cathedral Ridge. Awe inspiring in it ruggedness, it is known by the local climbers
as some of the most amazing climbing in the Pacific Northwest. Hard to find, but worth the trip. We
thought a fitting moniker for our winery.
Photo shown is from Karl S., Seattle, bivouaked on Cathedral Ridge (Photo used by permission).
To hike the Cathedral Ridge please visit Adam Schneider's website. He has some wonderful photos.

MAGIC IN A BOTTLE
Due to the ideal micro-climates in the region, our oregon winery boasts lovingly tended grapes
and they are magnificent. The credit goes to our fabulous grape growers such as Lonnie Wright,
John Bangsend, Clark Ziegler and others. Our oregon wine harvests are locally gathered and
wine crafting begins onsite using time honored traditions. But the magic doesn't stop there.
Our winemaker is Michael Sebastiani, a fourth generation winemaker. He has an innate talent
for creating magic in every bottle. Try our wine today.
WINE PHILOSOPHY
We excel in this business because we truly love producing great wines. Our philosophy is
simple: Give every guest a warm reception, a rich experience, and plenty of good reasons
to come back again.
HOSPITABLE SURROUNDINGS
We hope you'll plan a visit to the area to see the sights, walk our grounds and sample all that
we have to offer. We know you'll enjoy everything you see. And you'll enjoy what you taste,
even more.
There are many ways to enjoy the Columbia Gorge and its' wines, we'd like to invite
you to start with sampling our wines, and we’re grateful you’ve chosen to spend time with
us. We’re devoted to producing the best wines and becoming your personal Oregon winery.
