In this image we can see that there is agreat depth of field which gives thepicture a unique appearance and I feelthis image will capture my targetaudiences attention. I believe it willintrigue them, as to who is this artist

presenting themselves to us. I willtherefore use this picture for mymagazine as it portrays certain qualitiesabout my artist which will interest myreader. However, I am undecided as towhere this picture will feature, possiblyon my double page spread or contents

page.

This image also illustrates a gooddepth of field and indicates what thisartist likes to do in her spare time andpotentially a place where she getsinspiration for the songs she writes. Ilike how naturalistic this image is,particularly as it reflects the seasonsand as I would like my magazine torepresent a seasonal theme throughthe careful use of imagery andcolours. This picture would beeffective in facilitating this andtherefore I feel that I should put thispicture on the double page spread, itwill anchor the text and portray this artists features and capture the attention of myreader as they get to know the artist.

I like this picture a lot, however it is a

shame that it is out of focus, it showsgreat depth of field and makes good useof the natural lighting which is reflectedin the water behind the artist. Thispicture effectively represents my artist,her music and the message sheexpresses through her music is quiteapparent, as is her style.

In this image we can see the artist who hasbeen positioned showing a different side. Ilike the effective use of natural light within theshot and the water which has certainconnotations that emphasise key themes andmessages within the medium long shot. Inaddition I feel the artists clothes contrast wellwith the light stone, green and blue in thebackground. As a result I will be using thispicture in my double page spread.

This image is very effective andsomewhat reflective of the pop

genre as it shows the artists fun,less serious side and illustratesthat she is a real performer. I likethe lighting within this image andthe shadows of trees on thebuilding behind, created by thebright natural light. I will use thisimage on my double page spreadas it is so effective in reflectingmy artist and the qualities she will

bring to the music industry.

This image has a great sense of depth to it,created by the angle in which the shot wastaken. Again it is successful in representing a

seasonal theme. I particularly like how thisimage reflects the artists personality,someone that loves what she does and is justlike you and I. The way that she is lookingaway from the camera and absorbing hersurrounding suggests that she is gettinginspiration from this location. I feel that thisimage will compliment my double pagespread.

Within this image we can see that there is depth of fieldand good use of natural lighting. The camera hascaptured the contrasting light and dark of the sunlightand shadows. In this image we see the artist in amedium long shot. I like this image as it shows that myartist has a unique down to earth style which isreflected in her music. Therefore, I will include thisimage on my double page spread.

This image shows good depth of fieldalso, due to the high key lightingwhich adds contrast to the image. Ilike the way that the artist ispositioned for this shot as it is veryrepresentative of the genre pop andshows the personality of the artist.Therefore, I will use this picture withinmy magazine but I am undecided asto where.

This image is very similar to the oneabove which as we have alreadyindicated has good lighting and depth

of field. However, in this image we getto see the artists emotions andconsider this is something that is veryimportant for every artist when theyare immersed in writing songs and thisalso helps to ensure the audience isable to relate to the emotions beingportrayed. Therefore, I will use this

picture due to the way it successfully illustrates importance of emotions in thecreation of music. However, I am undecided as to where I will feature this imagewithin my magazine.

The representation of this image hassimilar qualities to the ones above.However, here we are drawn in bythe artists eye line, we wonderwhere and what she is looking at.This portrays the artists personalitywhich will capture my audiences

attention when reading themagazine feature. Therefore, I willuse this image within my magazinebut I am still undecided where bestto position it for it to be effective.

This image has good depth of field and I like thereflection created by the artist and the background onthe water in the foreground. The mirror effect is very

effective and something I find appealing and I hopemy target audience will also. I also like the high keylighting and the fact that the audience/reader whenthey look at this image will instantly recognise theseason in which it has been taken. I feel that thisimage represents so many qualities and messageswhich I would like my magazine to portray to mymarket. Therefore, I will use this image, although willneed to decide where best to utilise this image in mymagazine.

key lighting which is reflected in thewater. The artist has a direct gazetowards the camera which implies thatshe is drawing us in. Therefore, I will usethis picture within my magazine due tothe representations and techniqueswhich have been captured in this shot.

This image reflects the artistsperformer persona and provides aglimpse of her personality. I like thereflection of the water as it contrastswith the Mise-en-scene. So as a resultI will use this image on my doublepage spread.

The medium long shot of the artist inmy opinion is very representative ofpop music and the emotions reflectedin the artists music and lyrics to whichthe reader will be able to relate. Ichose to position my artist in this wayas I wanted to replicate the style ofSam Smiths and in particular the way

in which he is positioned on the albumcover of in the lonely hour. I will usethis image in my magazine.

This image is very similar to the oneabove, except here we get to seemore of the artists face, heremotional state of mind and the wayin which she is sharing her feelings

with the audience.

This medium long shot of the artisthelps to convey her personality and thisis important when you are a new artist

in the music industry. Your audienceneed to be able to see the real you andshowing your emotions and character isa great way of standing out from thecrowd whilst ensuring your fans caneasily relate to you. I particularly like thehigh key lighting as this adds contrast tothe image. I have decided to includethis image within my magazine but I amundecided as to where.

I like the high key lighting used withinthis shot and the way that it illustratesthe seasonal theme. I also like the useof the water in the Mise-en-scene asthis has connotations which add to themessages already portrayed by the

artist in various images. I will use thisshot in my magazine but I amundecided as to where.

I like the mirror effectcreated by the waters andthe light and dark in the

background of these images.This could have certainconnotations, such as this isan artist who has hit the bigtime, achieved success andis surveying her property. Iwould like my magazine toreflect these messages thatanyone can succeed. The high key lighting used helps add to thedepth of field and contrast within the image. The way in which myartist is positioned reflects her personality and represents her styleof music. Therefore, I will use this image within my magazine.

I feel that this shot is very representative of thetrend seen in pop music recently, the use of theprop hat conveys the artists style, just like BrunoMars, Ne-yo, Taylor Swift and Pharrell Williams

and it was these artist who provided the inspirationfor this image. I like the direct gaze the artist has,the way it draws the reader in, challenges them toexplore what is unique about her. I will use thispose/style in magazine also, though I amundecided as to where in order for it to have thedesired effect on my reader. The image will needto be relevant to anchor the text.

performing. I would like to use this image, thoughI will need to give further consideration as towhere.

In this image we again see the artists performing, happy and inher comfort zone, she is doing what she loves and thistherefore helps to convey her personality that will shinethrough in her music. I believe this is something that willappeal to music fans as they can see that she doesnt takeherself too seriously. Therefore, I will use this in my musicmagazine so that my readers have the opportunity to get toknow her.

This image illustrates a good depth of field and highkey lighting. I like how the elements have influencedthe image, the gentle gust of wind which has lifted

the artists hair, giving her more natural yet highquality appearance. This is very representative of herstyle of music and personality which certainly comesacross in the image. I like the attitude conveyedthrough her facial expression and pose. I would liketo use this in my magazine as I feel that it has keymessages which are very representative of my genreof pop.

Here we have a medium long shot which shows depth offield and high key lighting. The positioning of my artist iseffective as it represents pop music and attitudes

associated with other musicians from this genre. I wouldlike to use this in my magazine due to the values itportrays and this would be very effective in capturing theattention of my reader.

This medium close up shot of the artist shows depth of fieldand I like the veryeffective natural light seen within theshot. I also like the direct gaze, the attitudes which arebeing portrayed and the way in which this helps to draw thereader in. However, unfortunately the blue van has come

into shot in the background and this diminishes the overallfinish of the image. If I were to use this image I would needto use photoshop to remove the van from the background.

I like this image due to the representations and techniques whichare shown within this shot. However, unfortunately there areobjects in the background which interfere with the overall finishand I would need to remove these before I would be able toconsider using this image in my magazine.

the background of this shot. Also high key lighting which has

been used contrasts with the mise-en-scene. I like the attitudes

and representations in this shot as they link to the genre of

music which my magazine will cover. Therefore, I will use this

image in the magazine due to the values and messages this

shot conveys.

In this medium long shot of my artist, wecan see the attitudes that are being

portrayed by her. I like the use of high keylighting and the shadows that have beencreated within the mise-en-scene. There iscontrast between the colours of the artistsclothing and those seen in both thebackground and foreground. However, thevan in the background is interfering withthe appearance of this shot. I would like touse this image in my magazine however Iam undecided where and which one ismost suitable, although image on the left

does have a richness and warmth to it.

These images convey the artists personality and

thoughtful side which should help the audience

relate to the artist and her music. The images

show a good depth of field and high key lighting.

However, I am undecided as to whether I will useeither of these images in my magazine,

particularly as I feel unsure how they would be

received by my target audience.

Within this image a blue van can be seen and unfortunatelythis diminishes its overall impact, despite the fact that the

artists scarf is matched by the vans colour. If I were todecide to include it, then I could utilise photoshop to removethe van from the background. I do like the images qualities,high key lighting, the positioning of the artist and the overallclarity/ impact that this image has. However, I am somewhatundecided as to whether I will use this image in mymagazine.

This image is different from the otherimages I have considered and thisuniqueness appeals to me. Iparticularly like the way in which thisimage conveys a more thoughtful sideof the artist. In my opinion I feel thatthis image is very representative of

pop music and I feel it will appeal tomy target market. The messages thatare present in this shot are oneswhich I would like to replicate in mymagazine as this will captivate myaudience. I will consider using this image within my magazine but I am undecided asto where.

within this shot, resembling an artist onstage with the bright lights behind her. I feelthat this image is very representative of popmusic and I will therefore use this in mymagazine.

This medium shot of my artist clearly illustratesthe relationship between fashion and popmusic, particularly the bright background andfashion photoshoot pose conveying a sense ofstyle. It shows a good depth of field and thehigh key lighting used contrasts with the artist. Iwill incorporate this image within my magazinealthough I will need to give furtherconsideration as to where.

From this image we get a sense of the artistspersonality through her direct gaze and the way inwhich she is positioned. In my opinion I feel thatthis is representative of pop music. The high keylighting helps to create contrast and brightens /lifts the atmosphere of the image. However, aswith many of these images, I am undecidedwhether I will use this image.

In this image we can see the artist but asilhouette effect created by the high keylighting. This I feel again represents pop music,although I think that it is a little out of focus andI will need to consider whether I will use this inmy magazine.
