FIELD OF INTEREST
Studies on the potential impacts of climate change on agriculture sector in Egypt
(impacts on yield, water consumptive use, farm net return and economic return from
water unit).
1. Mitigate the potential effects of climate change on the agriculture sector
through analysis and evaluation of adaptation strategies and determining the
effective ones to reduce the adverse impacts and improve opportunities of
the expected climate change on the agriculture sector.
2. Future climate change economic studies to evaluate farm net revenue under
climate change conditions with and without adaptation options.
3. Estimation of water needs for field crops, orchard trees and vegetables in the
old and new lands under different regions in Egypt.
4. Prediction of yield and water consumptive use under different soil types,
irrigation regime and agroclimatological zones

5. Prediction of reduction of yield under different water deficit at different growth
stages, and determined the stages are more vulnerable to water deficit.
6. Calculate crop water productivity from all predicted results and select the
optimum one.
7. Determined the optimum water amounts in each irrigation for different crops.
8. Suitable irrigation intervals give optimum yield.
9. Scheduling irrigation using the evaporation pan method.
10. Studies on the relation between irrigation amounts and different fertilization
levels and their effect on soil characteristics.
PRESENTATIONS
Collaboration with training and extension efforts more presentation in the areas of
scheduling irrigation (time and quantity of applied water). In addition, presentations
about the impacts of climate change on crop production and water consumption and
how to reduce the adverse impact of climate change on agriculture sector.
