Project 1A - storyboardFor this project, our task was to pick a scene or shot from a film, commercial, TV Show or video game and storyboard it. We had to make notes of camera movements, music, sound and dialogue.I picked a scene from Star Wars Clone Wars (2003). I was a huge fan of this animated series that boarding it was a chance to show my understanding of how major elements of a scene are put together. I really feel that my areas of strength are the composition and drawing of the characters on screen. Areas of improvement are elaborating, or clearly define the camera movements, either by indicators or written cues.

Project 1B - AnimaticAfter we storyboarded the sequence we chose, the next step was to create the animatic. This required putting the images into motion using the cues we noted down. Also the audio from the original sequence needed to be inserted. When I was young, I loved to watch the making of movies, particularly animated movies. I was very intrigued in the storyboard and animatic process, so it was fun to see my final result with the overplayed title with the timecode and framecount.I feel my area of strength is in how I put the images to the timing of the original audio. Areas of improvement are in the lack of camera movement and static elements.

Project 2A - Film NoirFor this project we picked an old film and we had to create a storyboard for a 45 second teaser for an updated version in a noir style. This meant only black and white imagery. The film me and my partner chose was Seven Samurai. It was a chance for me to learn about drawing composition and choreographing action.Areas of strength I feel, are in the character action, where the samurai are seen slicing and chopping the alien robots. Also in the way I tried to compose dramatic visuals. Areas of improvement include better defined camera cues.

Project 2B: AnimaticAfter creating the storyboards we created the animatic for the film noir teaser. We had to include sound effects, music, voice overs and some animation. This certainly was a challenge, but a fun one. This was an opportunity to put an original idea to motion and seeing the results. I got to learn and receive feedback on my choices and improve on them.I feel areas of strength are in the music choice. I really tried to go for something cinematic and epic. Also in the animation of the samurai slicing and dicing the robot ninjas. Areas of improvement are in the volume and quality of the voice over and the timing of certain actions and cues.

Project 3 - Final Term Project PreproductionFor this project we had to select a story of your choice. It could be original or otherwise, and we had to board a 30 second teaser of the story.I chose to challenge myself by creating an original story. It was tricky but I eventually settled on a more silly story just for myself to have fun one. A hitman who once had a bad christmas and now was after Santa to for revenge. The resulting fight would involve holiday-based warfare. A very different concept, but an opportunity for to show me more cartoony abilities and hone them in.Areas of strength for the storyboard are in the some drawing that portray the scene well plus a few story choices, such as the hitmans flashback. Improvements include more focused choices in camera cues and storytelling as it was rushed at the time.

Project 3 - Final Term Project AnimaticNext we had to put the boards into a final colored animatic with music, sounds, animation and titles. This was very fun to do as I could again show my cartoony side and also challenge myself to create something more fully realized than my previous project by including color. I had fun showing in more detail what I wanted to portray in my boards. A fun silly story of a hitmans holiday trying to trap Santa Claus.Areas of strength are in the crisp image quality for the majority of the animatic and the animation of certain elements. Plus a fun mini-fight scene with sound and movement. Improvement includes more animation in certain parts such as the sleigh riding in at the beginning and some composition choices.
