As marketing becomes increasingly digitised, organisations are challenged to remain competitive by finding new, creative ways to acquire and retain customers. This involves leveraging Big Data, Social Media, and unique web and mobile experiences. This evolving landscape is driving the demand for wide ranging skill sets across the industry. The key trends in marketing now are Big Data, Permission Marketing and Programmatic Marketing, heralding a new era of intense segmentation of the market. These changes have meant that traditional and even the not so traditional marketeers are having to upskill themselves at an ever increasing rate to keep abreast of their industry. Big Data makes it cheaper and easier to test concepts but marketing is still about coming up with the big ideas. As a result employers look favourably on professionals with blended skill sets. Marketeers armed with a strong knowledge of traditional marketing, a proven track record in having an innovative imagination and who are skilled in digital marketing will continue to be in-demand in this ever changing market. The Telecommunications and Financial Services industry will continue to require commercially savvy Product Marketeers during 2015. Specialised Digital Marketing roles are increasingly in-demand and diversifying. As the economic landscape is changing, we are seeing a refocus on brand identity, brand safety and viewability. There will be continued focus on organisations’ online presence. Following the lead of the big corporates, SMEs are recognising the need to adapt to a competitive market where eCommerce is the growing global trend. Content Marketing grew exponentially during 2014 in both B2C (Business to Consumer) and B2B (Business to Business) and this trend will continue throughout 2015. Challenges around contextualising and distributing content as well as maximising media potential will continue in 2015. This is creating continuous demand for Content Managers with experience in writing coupled with the technical skills necessary to create videos, flash, graphics and infographics. Salaries remained relatively static throughout 2014, however, predictions are that we will see salary pressures in the areas of Digital, Data Analytics and Insights. Performance related bonuses are coming into play and we see that continuing throughout 2015.

Organisations were investing a large part of their recruitment budgets on the sales function throughout 2014 and we expect this to be an ongoing trend in 2015. There has been a significant shift in companies hiring Field Sales Representatives particularly within the FMCG market and there will be a continued demand nationally for experienced sales professionals. The B2B sector is experiencing high demand for Sales Professionals at executive level. Bid management and tender submission has become part of the day to day responsibilities of the B2B professional as corporates increasingly go to market to choose their suppliers.

There is continued demand for experienced Inside Sales, Inside Sales with Languages, Field Sales, Sales Manager and Business Development Sales nationally. Experience within the Telco, FMCG & Financial Services sectors, with a particular focus on channel sales will be sought after in 2015. The expansion by existing multinationals EMEA sales hubs in Ireland will drive a continued strong demand for business development professionals with pan-European experience. Salaries will remain relatively steady in the sales sector with low percentage increases in basic salaries. During 2014 we saw a trend emerge whereby companies paid a higher OTE to attract and retain talent. We expect this will continue into 2015.
