PASTORAL PLANNING UPDATE:
Recommendation to Bishop Matano regarding future Parish Configuration
One of the most important tasks of the Planning Team has been to reach a preference for a configuration of our parishes that could be served by the projected four priests, rather than the current six, in the near future. That configuration would in-clude more clustering of parishes (Pastors assuming the leadership of more parishes). Over the past several months, the planning team has brainstormed and evaluated nine possible parish configuration scenarios, taken these to the parish pasto-ral and finance councils for additional input, and met to reach agreement on a preference.
At the planning team’s January 16th meeting, the following parish configuration was preferred by the Planning Team: Cluster 1: Our Lady of the Snow, St. Mary’s, and Ss. Mary and Martha served by a Pastor and a Parochial Vicar, Cluster 2: Holy Family, Sacred Heart/St. Ann, and St. Alphonsus served by a Pastor and a Parochial Vicar.
This recommendation was sent to Bishop Matano for his decision. In his February 14th letter, the Bishop said that he is in-clined to support the proposed parish configuration which looks intently into the future. He planned to consult with the Priests’ Personnel Board and other diocesan staff. Assuming that he accepts the recommendation, any changes would go into effect if/when any of our priests move to senior priest status or different appointments.
The letter to the Bishop and his response are posted on the Auburn-N. Cayuga website: http://auburnweedsportcatholicchurches.org/ with copies available in the parish offices. Minutes from the January and February planning team meetings are also available.
If you have any questions, please see a member of the Planning Team. Our planning team members are: Fr. Lioi, Fr. Erick, Dan Szozda & Jim Malinowski.

Quote: I know your misery, the inner struggle of your heart. I also know the weakness of your heart. I am aware of your cowardice, your sins, and your falls. I still tell you, “Love me as you are.” . . . If you want to be perfect before giving me your heart, you will never love me. —Anonymous
