FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
It is with a sad heart that I inform you of the retirement of our Director of Faith For-mation, JoAnn Sondelski, On July 1, 2013 JoAnn took over this position. At that time she was no stranger to our parish. She taught in our St. Paul Catholic School for seven years and then became the principal of the school for eight years. After a hiatus of ten years as prin-cipal in the Pittsville School District she came back to St. Paul as DRE for the past five years. Among her many duties as Director of Reli-gious Education she coordinated the entire CCD program, trained teachers, oversaw the sacrament programs of Baptism, Reconcilia-tion, First Holy Communion and Confirma-tion, was part of the RCIA, Youth Group, Adult Ed. Classes, Vacation Bible School and other aspects of religious education. She also was part of deanery and diocesan committees that share common goals for education. In addition to all of this involvement when the St. Paul School principal position became open last December she volunteered to take on this interim responsibility as well. For the last six months she was wearing two hats and con-tinued to excel in both departments. St. Paul parish family and I, as pastor, are extremely grateful for her leadership in this faith commu-nity. Her last official day is June 30th. She plans to do gardening and enjoy life at a slow-er pace. May the Lord bless JoAnn and her husband, Frank, in the coming years.
Last Tuesday 6 parishioners were instructed and trained as new Eucharistic Ministers. They are Patricia Bauer, Celeste Caruso, Jenna Crawley, Nancy Polka, Veronica Lietz & Mike Gorski. We thank them for offering to be of ministerial service at our Eucharistic liturgies. May God bless their commitment.

Pope Francis Encyclical Letter
On Care of Our Common Home
Laudato Si
If we are truly concerned to develop an ecology capable of remedying the damage we have done, no branch of the sciences and no form of wisdom can be left out, and that includes religion and the language particular to it. I would like from the outset to show how faith convictions can offer Christians, and some other believers as well ample motivation to care for the nature and for the most vulnerable of their brothers and sisters. If the simple fact of being human moves people to care for the environment of which they are a part, Christians in their turn “realize that their responsibility within creation, and their duty toward nature and the creator, are an essential part of their faith.”
Knights of Columbus J.F.K. Council #5488 will have its first steak fry of the year on Thursday, June 28 at the Rec Center. Social at 6:00 p.m. , dinner at 6:30 p.m. Please bring your own plates and utensils, and a dessert to pass.
