For the Saints. Mode 4.

A rule of faith are you, and an icon of

gentleness, and a teacher of self-control. And

to your flock this was evident, by the truth of your

life and deeds. You were humble and therefore

you acquired exalted gifts, treasure in heaven for

being poor. O Father and Hierarch St.

Nicholas, intercede with Christ our God, and

entreat Him to save our souls.

For St. Nektarios. Mode 2.

A s we joyfully commemorate the welcome

arrival of your sacred Relics, holy Hierarch

Nektarios, we call upon the grace of God in you,

which sanctifies our bodies and our souls. You

alleviate our suffering and you cure the illnesses

afflicting us. Glory to Christ, who glorified you!

Glory to Him for your miracles! Glory to Him for

all the cures that He works through you.

Kontakion. Mode 3.

O n this day the Virgin Maid * goes to the

grotto to give birth * to the pre-eternal Word

* in an ineffable manner. * Dance for joy, all the

inhabited earth, on hearing. * Glorify along with

Angels and with the shepherds * Him who willed

that He appear as * a newborn Child, * the pre-

eternal God.

Trisagion Hymn 8

The Readings

Epistle: Heb. 13:17-21.

Brethren, obey your leaders and submit to them;

for they are keeping watch over your souls, as men

who will have to give account. Let them do this

joyfully, and not sadly, for that would be of no

advantage to you. Pray for us, for we are sure that

we have a clear conscience, desiring to act

honorably in all things. I urge you the more

earnestly to do this in order that I may be restored

to you the sooner. Now may the God of peace who

brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the

great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the

eternal covenant, equip you with everything good

that you may do His will, working in you that

Page 4: SAINT NEKTARIOS GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCHDec 06, 2020  · SAINT NEKTARIOS GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH SUNDAY MISSAL FOR DECEMBER 6, 2020 ... * You rose on the third day, O Lord * and Savior,

which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ;

to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Gospel: Lk. 13:10-17. 109

At that time, Jesus was teaching in one of the

synagogues on the sabbath. And there was a

woman who had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen

years; she was bent over and could not fully

straighten herself. And when Jesus saw her, he

called her and said to her, "Woman, you are freed

from your infirmity." And he laid his hands upon

her, and immediately she was made straight, and

she praised God. But the ruler of the synagogue,

indignant because Jesus had healed on the sabbath,

said to the people, "There are six days on which

work ought to be done; come on those days and be

healed, and not on the sabbath day." Then the Lord

answered him, "You hypocrites! Does not each of

you on the sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from

the manger, and lead it away to water it? And

ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham

whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed

from this bond on the sabbath day?" As he said

this, all his adversaries were put to shame; and all

the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that

were done by him.

The Creed 18

Hymn to the Theotokos 23

I t is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever

blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God.

More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond

compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without

corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We

magnify you, the true Theotokos.

The Lord's Prayer

Communion Prayers 29

(Read aloud by the Congregation)

I believe and confess, Lord, that You are truly the

Christ, the Son of the living God, Who came into

the world to save sinners, of whom I am the first. I

also believe that this is truly Your pure Body and

that this is truly Your precious Blood. Therefore, I

pray to You, have mercy upon me, and forgive my

transgressions, voluntary and involuntary, in word

and deed, known and unknown and make me

worthy, without condemnation, to partake of Your

pure Mysteries for the forgiveness of sins and for

life eternal. Amen. How shall I, who am unworthy,

enter into the splendor of Your saints? If I dare to

enter into the bridal chamber, my clothing will

accuse me, since it is not a wedding garment; and

being bound up, I shall be cast out by the angels. In

Your love, Lord, cleanse my soul and save me.

Loving Master, Lord Jesus Christ, my God, let not

these Holy Gifts be to my condemnation because of

my unworthiness, but for the cleansing and

sanctification of soul and body and the pledge of

future life and Kingdom. It is good for me to cling

to God and to place in Him the hope of my

salvation. Receive me today, Son of God, as a

partaker of Your mystical supper. I will not reveal

your mystery to Your adversaries. Nor will I give

You a kiss as did Judas. But as the thief, I confess to

You: Lord, Remember me in Your Kingdom.

Communion Hymn

P raise the Lord from the heavens, praise Him in

the highest. Alleluia.

Holy Communion: Orthodox Christians prepared to

receive Holy Communion come forward quietly and

reverently at the direction of the ushers.

Prayers of Thanksgiving after Holy Communion

can be found on pages 40--42.

Hymn after Holy Communion

W e have seen the true light; we have received

the heavenly Spirit; we have found the true

faith, worshiping the undivided Trinity, for the

Trinity has saved us.

Homily

Light a candle in the

St. Nektarios sanctuary

We invite you to light a virtual candle on

the St. Nektarios Church website.

About this Tradition,

“I am the light of the world; he who follows me

will not walk in darkness, but will have the light

of life.”-John 8:12

Upon entering our Orthodox church, we

light candles representing the light of Christ

we carry within us. In faith, we offer

prayers of thanksgiving and glory to God.

We may also petition for the

needs of family and friends.

May this virtual candle offer

you comfort during your

devotional time away from

church.
