OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE—DEC 12TH

Sunday, December 12, is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Mary under the title of Our Lady of Gua-dalupe is the Patron Saint of the Americas. A special Bi-lingual Spanish/English Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec 12th, followed by a recep-tion in the cafeteria. We encourage as many as pos-sible, especially youth and children, to attend this Mass and join the festive traditions of this feast.

SURVEY BALLOT RESPONSE

1,159 survey ballots were returned from the 1,885 households receiving surveys. That is 62% of the households which is very large response. The tabula-tion of the results, which is being done outside the parish office personnel, will take some time to accom-plish. The results will be shared in the parish bulletin of January 8-9, 2011.

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION

Two themes run through this Sunday’s readings, the nature of God’s Kingdom and the need for our patience.

What God’s Kingdom is like is portrayed – the desert will bloom; the glories of the na-tions are presented to God’s people; and they will sing in joy. John the Baptist thought Jesus would bring this into reality, but it did not happen in the way John expected. So he sent a message to Jesus asking if he was the one awaited, the Messiah. Jesus’ re-sponse was to point out that he was fulfilling the healings promised by Isaiah as well as teaching. God would bring in his Kingdom in his own way. In other words, the patience that James urges is needed by all of us.

As stewards, our responsibility is to carry out our daily tasks, using our time, talent, and

treasure for God’s service and that of his Church. Even though we don’t know when the Second Coming of Jesus will be, we know that Psalm 146 is right: “The Lord shall reign forever.”
