From the Pastor’s desk … Every parent feels happy and proud of the children’s achievements. It is the same with the Pastors when they hear good things about their parish. This week I received a thank you note from the Marist Brothers regarding your generous support to their mission appeal on the weekend of July 13. Though it is addressed to me, it properly belongs to our beloved Msgr. Desmond O’Con-ner’s credit. Great generosity! Dear Father Kalist, I recently received a check from the Office of the Propa-gation of the Faith which included the donation of $2,951.10 from the collection taken up on July 13-14 in your parish when Br. David Cooney spoke in behalf of the Marist Brothers’ Missionary efforts. A sincere “Thank you” to all the parishioners for that generous donation, which displays their understanding of a Church larger than St. Kateri’s in LaGrangeville. Having served for 14 years at Our Lady of the Sioux Parish in Oglala, South Dakota on the Pine Ridge Reservation, I developed a spe-cial love for St. Kateri; last summer I was able to visit her birthplace in Ossernon, NY, and this summer, her tomb on the Kanawahkee Reservation near Montreal. I urge you and your parishioners to try to make such a pilgrim-age someday to encourage devotion to your patron saint. With this very large donation of almost $3000.00 added tyo other collections made over the summer, we will cer-tainly be able to continue our efforts to educate young people in lands other than our own. May God bless your challenging buyt exciting role as pastor and help you to continue to feed and nourish your “flock”, thus continu-ing the mission of Jesus in our day. Our prayers and gratitude remain with you and your parishioners. Sincerely , Br. Rene D. Roy, F.M.S
