This Sunday’s Gospel from Mark carries a significant message regarding faith and the Kingdom of God. In Mark’s Gospel, Jesus appears reluctant to reveal his identity as the Son of God. After performing miracles of healing, he warns those cured to tell no one (see Mark 1:44, 3:12, 5:43, 7:36, and 8:26). Also, when preaching, Jesus chooses to speak to the crowds in parables, leaving them to discern his message. Only to his disciples does he explain the parable’s meaning, and he does this in private at a later time. Today’s Gospel Reading consists of two parables about seeds. In the first, Jesus tells those gathered that this is how it is with the kingdom of God. A man scatters seed which over time sprouts and develops. Then when the grain is ripe, the man harvests his crop.

The emphasis in the parable is on the seed, which seemingly has the power to grow on its own. In this it is like the Kingdom of God. While on earth, Jesus planted the seeds of the kingdom by his life, miracles, teaching, and suffering. However, the kingdom is not yet fully established. Although already present in Jesus and his group of twelve, it has yet to come to fruition; just as the seed in the parable needs time to grow, so does God’s kingdom.

SUMMER FAREWELL On Friday, June 15, our St. Joseph School children officially ended their academic year and began their summer vacation. They deserve a time of leisure, personal reflection, and fun with family. Obviously, vacation is

also a time to intensify spiritual life with God by participating in divine worship on Sunday and praying to Jesus at Mass. We wish all of our students and teachers a restful, joyful, and safe vacation and a happy return to St. Joseph School by August’s end.

all excess material has been hauled off site Gravel for parking area is being placed Gutter replacement has begun Plumbing supplies have been received EPDM roof warranty has been received Fire Alarm System has been programmed and working Basketball backstops have been installed and wired Hardwood flooring installation in the Gym and Stage areas is

underway Exterior caulking and expansion joint materials have been

installed. The monthly payment to our contractors for May is $230,492.75.

ST. JOSEPH FESTIVAL Our 45th annual parish festival is in full swing this weekend. Bring your friends and invite those you know to join us in supporting our St. Joseph School. Our Big Money Raffle will be held on Sunday, June 17, in the afternoon. Winners need not be present to win! Visit our delicious food tent, play games of chance like Texas Hold ‘Em Poker or the Dice Wheel, check out our Wine & Spirits booth or Special Gifts, buy homemade pastries and wander through the Garage Sale items. FATHER’S DAY - JUNE 17 On Fathers’ Day, we remember and honor dads, grandfathers, uncles, and all the men, living and deceased, who tirelessly and selflessly gave of themselves for their families with unconditional love. It is a good time to also recall the exemplary role-model and patron saint of

fathers – Saint Joseph – foster father of Jesus, husband of Our Lady and patron of the Universal Church. Saint Joseph experienced the same difficulties in life we all do, yet he lived a very good life and established an ideal that is well-worth emulating for all fathers who have come after him. He was a man possessed of unwavering faith in God. He was a man who loved and protected his family. On June 17th, as we honor and thank our dads for all they have done for us and for how much they mean to us, let us remember to ask Saint Joseph for his intercession on behalf of all dads and that his holy example continues to be an inspiration to all fathers. If your father is not with you, please remember him in your prayers, especially the most powerful prayer in the Eucharistic sacrifice during holy Mass.

REFLECTIONS ON FATHER GREGORY’S RECEPTION It was wonderful to see so many parishioners and friends at our joyful celebration of Father Gregory’s 15-year anniversary of ordination. I would like to thank every-one who contributed to his reception. Many people offered their help especially with the pastries and with the serving of the food. We are especially grateful to Marzena Ko-liński, Małgorzata Kiciliński, Lidia Nolle, Henryk Kulma, Vic-tor Koliński, Mr. Clem Starosta, Patrick Kirby, Polish Satur-day School and Orawa Bakery for their dedicated work. We are so very fortunate that Father Gregory is a dedicated and valuable part of our St. Joseph Parish.

Gdy przychodzimy po całym tygodniu pracy w niedzielę na Mszę świętą, Bóg chciałby ten czas wykorzystać, dając nam jak najwięcej. To właśnie tutaj On, Siewca, będzie chciał siać swoje słowo w naszych sercach. On wie, że niektórzy z nas są jak gleba żyzna, niektórzy jak gleba piaszczysta, a inni to po prostu

kamienie. Jednak Boski Siewca się nie męczy, sieje swoje ziarno we wszystkich i oczekuje, że wydamy plony. Stawajmy się przed Nim najlepszą glebą, na jaką nas stać, pozwólmy, żeby zasiane dzisiaj słowo mogło w nas przynosić jak najbogatsze plony.

DZIEŃ OJCA W Dzień Ojca pamiętamy i czcimy naszych ojców, dziadków, wujków i wszystkich ludzi żyjących i zmarłych, którzy niestrudzenie i bezinteresownie oddali się dla swoich rodzin z bezwarunkową miłością. Jest to dobry czas, aby również przypomnieć przykładny wzór do

naśladowania w osobie patrona ojców - św. Józefa - przybranego ojca Jezusa, męża Matki Bożej i patrona Kościoła powszechnego. Święty Józef miał takie same trudności w życiu, jak my wszyscy, ale żył bardzo dobrym życiem i ustanowił ideał, który jest wartym naśladowania dla wszystkich ojców. Był człowiekiem o niezachwianej wierze w Boga. Był człowiekiem, który kochał i chronił swoją rodzinę. 17 czerwca, gdy dziękujemy ojcom za wszystko, co dla nas zrobili i za to, ile dla nas znaczą, pamiętajmy, aby poprosić św. Ukochany przez nas wielki Polak św. Jan Paweł II, podczas pielgrzymek do Polski powtarzał: „Proszę was, abyście nie podcinali sami tych korzeni, z których wyrastamy”. Pouczał Polaków, którzy wyemigrowali „Niech nie zapomnają Ojczyzny, rodziny, Kościoła, modlitwy (..)Niech pilnują aby duchowo nie zubożeli”. Mając w pamięci Ojczyznę i te wspaniałe autorytety, z dumą i misyjnym obowiązkiem wypełniają swoją pracę nauczyciele polskiej szkoły. Program nauczania jest przystosowany dla każdej grupy wiekowej. Obecnie szkoła liczy 39-cioro uczniów, którzy uczą się mówić, pisać i czytać w j. polskim, poznają historię i geografię Polski, biorą udział w okolicznościowych akademiach, poznają nasze piękne polskie tradycje i nawiązują wieloletnie przyjaźnie z innymi polskimi dziećmi.

PODZIĘKOWANIE Pragnę bardzo serdecznie podziękować wszystkim parafianom, którzy w ubiegłym tygodniu zaszczycili mnie swoją obecnością na uroczystym obiedzie z okazji 15 rocznicy moich święceń kapłańskich. Było to dla mnie ogromna radością dzilić z Wami ten szczególny dla mnie czas. Dziękuję za ofiarowane modlitwy, prezenty, przyjaźń, pamięć i życzenia. To, że mogliśmy się spotkać w tak wspaniałej atmosferze jest zasługą wielu osób, którym teraz pragnę imiennie podziękować: ksiedzu Prałatowi, za zorganizowanie całego wydarzenia, Marzenie Koliński i Małgorzecie Kicilińskiej oraz Lidii Nolle za pracę włożoną w przygotowanie sali i czywanie nad przebiegiem całego wydarzenia, Henrykowi Kulma za przygotowanie miesa, Zdzisławowi i Małgorzecia Madziar za wędliny, Wiktorowi Kolińskiemu za oprawę muzyczną, Polskiej Szkole Sobotniej za ciasta, Clement’owi Starosta i Patrykowi Kirby za pracę w kuchni, oraz wszystkim, którzy w jakikolwiek spósb przyczynili się do uczynienia tego popołudnia czasem radości i przyjaźni.
