Stewardship Note: Jesus, the perfect steward, gave thanks just before He gave Himself to us completely for our salva-tion. He offers us the chance to drink from His cup. In the Eucharist, we meet Christ personally and, if we listen to him, we know that drinking from His cup means our own sacrifice — giving up some of our time, talent, and treasure to do His work on earth.

BINGO Friday, June 8, at 6:30pm - St. Joseph School Cafeteria

This week our Parish Council will host.

Today, the second Sunday after Pentecost, we celebrate a second solemnity, which marks our return to Ordinary Time in the liturgical calendar. Today is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. At one time, this day was called Corpus Christi, the Latin words for “the Body of Christ.” In the most recent revision of our li-turgical rites, the name for this day is expanded to be a more complete reflection of our Eucharistic theology. In our reading for today, we read the account of the Last Supper found in the Gos-pel of Mark. It begins with the instructions that Jesus gave to his disciples to prepare their Passover celebration. It then goes on to give an account of the Last Supper. On

this Sunday, however, our Lectionary reading omits the verses between these two passages; in those omitted verses we hear Jesus predict his betrayal by one of his disciples. The Gospel for today reminds us that the Eucharist is a memorial of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. We be-lieve that Jesus is truly present to us in the elements of bread and wine. Each time we celebrate this sacrament, we prepare for the Kingdom of God. This celebration, as the Second Vatican Council taught us, is the source and summit of the Christian life.

CORPUS CHRISTI Today, June 3, we will celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. This year the faithful from various parishes will join us at the 11 a.m. Liturgy in our Basilica. This year the St. Ann Society will set up the main outside altar. We invite parishioners, parish organizations, various ministries in their official attire and banners, First Communion Class, Children of Mary, Altar Servers, and Boy Scouts to join us for procession to the altars.

ANNUAL COMMUNION MASS SACRED HEART SOCIETY

Next Sunday, June 10, at the 8:15 Mass, the Annual Communion Mass will be held for all members the Sacred Heart Society. A short meeting will follow in the school with muffins and coffee. All members are requested to meet at the back of the Church at 8 a.m. to process for Mass.

ST. JOSEPH GARDEN OF PEACE As we continually improve the appearance of our cemetery, we invite our parishioners to phone the rectory regarding conditions that are found out of order. Please have the lot number available so we may look into any situations that need adjustment. Thank you. (508) 943-0467.

DEVOTION AND NOVENA TO ST. JOSEPH On Wednesday, June 6, at 7 p.m. we will have devotions to our Patron, St. Joseph. The Bible pays Joseph the highest compliment: he was a just man. This quality meant that he was one who was completely open to all that God wanted to do for him. He became holy by opening himself totally to God. Think of the kind of love he had for Mary and the depth of the love they shared during their marriage. Praying to St. Joseph will bring his powerful intercessions for your needs. Petition

cards are provided at the entrance to our Basilica. Please write your intentions on the cards and they will be read during devotions. Your contributions are appreciated. This week our Eucharistic Ministers will carry St. Joseph’s statue into the sanctuary.

FATHER GREGORY – 15 YEAR ANNIVERSARY Father Gregory is celebrating his 15th year of Priesthood Ordination and 8 years of dedicated service to St. Joseph Basilica as an Assistant Pastor. We all benefit from his spirituality, humility, and kindness. Therefore, it is my wish, supported I believe, by all parishioners to recognize this very special occasion in his life. We invite you all to a luncheon for him, free of charge, on Sunday, June 10, at 12:15 p.m. at the PACC Hall on Harris Street. This time will provide our parishioners with a wonderful opportunity to express personal best wishes to Father Gregory. The parish is hosting the function with the assistance of the Knights of Columbus and parishioners who will bring desserts. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Father Gregory all the many blessings of God and many years of continued service to St. Joseph Basilica. ~~ Msgr. Anthony Czarnecki

A man died and went to heaven. He was met at the Pearly Gates by St. Peter who led him down the golden streets. They passed stately homes and beautiful mansions until they came to the end of the street where they stopped in front of a rundown cabin. The man asked St. Peter why he got a hut when there were so many mansions he could live in. St. Peter replied, we did the best we could with the money you sent us.

BOŻE CIAŁO Boże Ciało to święto całego Kościoła, który powstaje i gromadzi się podczas „łamania chleba”. W tym dniu ulicami miast przechodzą procesje eucharystyczne. Procesje eucharystyczne w dniu Bożego Ciała wprowadzono później niż samo święto, w drugiej połowie XIII w. Podczas nich niesiono krzyż z Najświętszym Sakramentem, nawiązując w ten sposób do zwyczaju zabierania w podróż Eucharystii dla ochrony przed niebezpieczeństwami. W XV w. procesje eucharystyczne urządzano w Niemczech, gdzie łączono je z modlitwą błagalną o odwrócenie nieszczęść i dobrą pogodę, w Anglii, Francji, północnych Włoszech i w Polsce.

Happy, Happy June Birthdays! The following parishioners will be celebrating 90+ years this month: Lena Bomba, Jane Kokoszka, Stacia Pepka, and Dorothy Wawrzyniak.

Good tidings and Wonderful Blessings to you!

Powtarzamy dziś za św. Tomaszem z Akwinu: „Wielbię Twój Majestat skryty w Hostii tej”. W czym Bóg mógłby lepiej się ukryć niż w okruszynie chleba i

kropli wina? Eucharystia to wielki sakrament pokory Boga. Wszechmogący Stwórca i Zbawiciel ukrył się pod postacią codziennego pokarmu, by stać się jeszcze bardziej Bogiem z nami i dla nas. W uroczystość Bożego Ciała wychodzimy na ulice miast i wsi, by publicznie wyznać wiarę w Niego.

Dziękujemy i życzymy powodzenia.

NOWENNA DO ŚW.

Patrona. W najbliższą środę w procesji z figura św. Józefa pójdą Szafarze Eucharystii.

“The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus. Those who accept his offer of salvation are set free from sin, sorrow, inner emptiness and loneliness. With Christ joy is constantly born anew.”
