PARISH WEEKEND DONATIONS
Mother Teresa Food Pantry
January 21, 2018 Collection $8,401
Online Giving $314
Total: $8,715 Thank you for your generosity
Remember our weekly goal is $10,000 Weekend Mass attendance: 724
Father has posted each week that our goal is $10,000. We seem to be so very close each week, but cannot change the weekly number unless we all reconsider what we donate to our church. Please know that he personally joins us each week in making a donation to our church and has made the commitment of donating 25% more each week this year. He invites you to join him in this commitment if you are able! Thank you!
We thank you and continue to depend upon your generosity and kindness in bringing food to church each and every week.
Our food pantry serves 250 registered families. We want you to know that all those who come to Saint Mother Teresa Food Pantry are so grateful and appreciative of what Saint Joseph Church does for them. If you are not able to go shopping and would like to make a donation to the Food Pantry, we will do the shopping for you. You can put your donation in the boxes marked “Caring Group” at each entrance of the church. Please know that your kindness makes such a difference to those who deal with very difficult life situations. Our pantry is so blessed because of all the Parishioners at Saint Joseph Church. Thank you again for your continued support!
This year, the parish is offering Matthew Kelly’s new book Perfectly Yourself for your Lenten reading pleasure. If you would like to make a
donation to defray the cost of shipping, there is a basket at the entrance of the church. The book is also available at the Parish Center Office during the week.
Hope you enjoy the read!
We are preparing the new schedules for March, April and May for Eucharist Ministers,
Readers and Altar Servers.
Please call or email the Parish Office before noon on Friday, February 9th with any changes or days that you
are not available during these months. This does not include the Vigil or Easter.
There will be a special sign-up sheet for them.
Please remember to make sure your assignment is covered when you are unavailable.
Our newest parish ministry to those in need
I know that you have heard about our plans to utilize our former Saint Joseph Regional School building across the street from the church. Unfortunately, this past year one of our benefactors backed out on his commitment to fund this new ministry. Therefore, it has delayed our official opening. As you may know, we here at Saint Joseph Church take seriously the call of the Lord Jesus to feed the poor, to clothe the naked and now we are venturing into our newest ministry of caring for the elderly. It is in this new venture that we need your assistance. It is our vision that we will not only create this much needed ministry in our parish and in Sussex County (as to date there are no other adult day care centers in the county) but also, utilize more fully the empty school building which will provide income and allow us to complete the much needed projects through our properties. Please be assured that Faith Formation will continue to utilize the school classrooms and our parish will still continue to use the Community Center whenever needed. At this time, I am asking forty (40) families to donate one thousand dollars ($1,000) which is what we will need to start the Guardian Angel Care Center here in Newton. Once we open our doors to the public, we will only need seventeen (17) clients in order to balance our books. Of course, if you are not able to make this amount individually, you are welcome to join other families or friends in being part of this much needed and valuable asset in our parish and in the county.
The Guardian Angel Care Center will be a 501(3)c Corporation which will be distinct from the Corporation of Saint Joseph Church and as such, we will eventually be able to secure outside and possibly state, county and federal funding. Because of this type of non-profit corporation, your donation will be tax deductible. We are also working on local companies that will match your donations to the day care center. I personally invite you to come and be part of something new, something important, something worthwhile! And of course, I would never ask you to do something I would not do, I am personally pledging $1,000 to this project and invite those who are able to do the same.
As of today, we have already had three people
come forward and make a pledge even before
this article was printed.
If you have any questions about this new
project, do not hesitate to call me at the Parish
