A lenten potluck meal will fol-low at the MCC. EPARCHIAL LENTEN REGULATIONS Great Lent and Passion Week, beginning on Ash Monday and ending at 12:00 (noon) on Saturday of the Light, is a season of penitence. Fasting: The Great Friday of the Crucifixion (April 10, 2020) are days of fasting. In the Maro-nite Church, fasting involves eating and drinking nothing at all (except water and medicine) from midnight until noon. The rest of the day normal meals can be taken. Abstinence: All Maronites who are physically capable are to abstain from meat on all Fridays of Great Lent. In our Maronite tradition, each day of this season is considered to be a day of fasting and absti-nence from meat and dairy products, (with the exception of Sundays and Holy Days). Although highly encouraged, this fast is not obligatory in this Eparchy. PRAYER LIST Do you have a loved one’s name to add or re-move from our prayer list? Contact the church office at 210.690.9569 to update. Thank you in advance.
LENTEN APPEAL The Annual Lenten Appeal for the Eparchy of Our Lady of Lebanon is now taking place. The Bishop's Annual Appeal is conducted each year during Lent to ask for support for the most urgent needs in the Eparchy. A letter from Bishop Elias Zaidan about the appeal was mailed to every fam-ily. Copies are also available in the foyer. The Eparchy relies upon the faithful to support our Maronite parishes and train our future Maro-nite priests. Every family is asked to participate in the Appeal at a level which is meaningful for them and be generous. Our parish's goal for this year's Appeal is $10,000. You can mail your donation, drop it in the collec-tion basket, or online. To make your online dona-tion, one time or recurring, please click on the following link: https://www.stgeorgesa.org/donations/2020-lenten-appeal/ Thank you for supporting the needs of your church and may God bless you. ORDER OF ST. SHARBEL The Order of St. Sharbel provides support to the Maronite Seminary in the United States by grant-ing financial assistance to the education of our seminarians and, whenever possible, retirement benefits to our clergy. You can make a difference in the life of the Maronite Church. There are many ways to support the Order of St. Sharbel: you can join and be an annual or perpetual mem-ber, you can make a donation in honor or memory of someone, or you can have it as the charity of your choice, in lieu of flowers, at the funeral of a loved one. Please contact the church office for more information. The Bishop will be inducting new members to the Order of St. Charbel this Sunday at 11:00 am. AMAZON SMILE You can support your parish while you shop on Amazon.com. Select "St George Maronite Catholic Church-San Antonio Real Estate Tru" when you shop on AmazonSmile, and Am-azon will make a donation to St George Maronite Catholic Church: - Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your eligi-ble AmazonSmile purchases to St. George, the charitable organization of your choice. - AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know.
