SEEING IS BELIEVING Seeing is believing! Since cellphone screens connect us instantly to social media, live TV, and loved ones’ faces near and far, “Doubting Thomas” could be our patron saint: “Unless I see, I will not believe!” But how comforting for any of us who share Thomas’s doubt, or love “doubters” who do, to see how kindly Jesus responds. By offering the very evidence that Thomas demanded, Jesus doesn’t scold Thomas, but seems to understand such skepticism. Could Jesus have been thinking of us, who long to believe that “Jesus is risen!” but see so much suffering, and perhaps even cause some, that we wonder, how could something so wonderful be true? In today’s reading from the Acts of the Apostles, the risen Jesus’ healing love comforts through disciples who love others. In Revelation, “our brother John” doesn’t just claim he saw Jesus alive, but passes on Jesus’ life-giving words, “Do not be afraid.” Seeing Jesus in others is believing! Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

TEEN WORKCAMP MEETING – The next Teen Workcamp Meeting is on April 28th from 6:15-8pm in the old parish hall. This meeting is for all current 8th-12th graders. Please note that all teens who plan to attend Workcamp must attend teen Work-camp meetings. $150 deposits (checks made out to St. Francis de Sales) are currently due to reserve a space at Workcamp. ADULT WORKCAMPERS - We are looking for more adults (at least 21 years of age) to come to Workcamp this summer in East Bank, WV from June 30 – July 6. On April 6th four of our teen parishioners attended Mass at the Catholic Scouting Campout put on by the diocese. Three of these have earned scouting awards and received metals blessed by Bishop Burbidge. Michael Gutshall and Benjamin Lovingood, both altar servers, have earned the Ad Altare Dei award and are preparing to work on for the final level. William Gutshall earned the highest award the Church offers to youth scouts, the Pope Pius XII award. Congratulations to them all.

For those of you who missed the Breakfast Burrito at this past month’s Pancake Breakfast, here is your opportunity to try one before summer arrives. The breakfast will begin after the 7am mass and run through the end of the 10:30am mass. As before, the Knights accept free-will donations.

Join us in helping our homeless brothers and sisters in the DC Metro Area! The Homeless Ministry is open to everyone in the parish. Our ministry will concentrate on collecting comfort items, preparing and serving food, and working directly with the homeless. There are ways to serve for all ages!
