April 16, 2017 — Easter Sunday, Resurrection of the Lord
2 Welcome to St. Clare Catholic Church
From the Pastor’s Desk
“I have risen and I am with you still, Alleluia.”
These words are from the Entrance Antiphon for
Easter Sunday morning Mass and they set the
very joyous tone for this greatest feast of the
liturgical year. I love Easter! And what’s not to
love? Lent is over and our Blessed Savior has
conquered death and sin and now we get to
rejoice in the great promise of eternal life with
Him! I often conclude my article with the words,
“God is so good to us,” and indeed in the Easter
Season these words take on new meaning. Jesus
has not only conquered death and sin through
His glorious resurrection, but He even still remains
with us.
Through the sacraments Jesus remains present to
us and is active in our lives. This time of the year is
always so beautiful because it’s as if the
floodgates of Heaven are flung open and grace
is poured down in abundance upon us. During
this season we will see our confirmation
candidates receive the outpouring of the Holy
Spirit in the sacrament of Confirmation, we will
see our second grade parishioners receive Jesus
in Holy Communion for the first time and later in
the season we will see seminarians for the
Archdiocese receive Holy Orders to the
diaconate and priesthood. All of this goodness
comes streaming to us from heaven because
God has shown Himself stronger than death…
Alleluia!
I want to wish everyone a very happy and blessed
Easter. I want to extend a hearty welcome to
anyone visiting St. Clare this weekend, you are
always welcome to worship with us! May our Risen
and Blessed Savior shower down his choicest
blessings upon you all!
God is indeed so good to us!!!
Fr. Kunz
P.S. A very grateful “Thank You” to the Daughters
of Isabella for preparing and hosting Deacon
Harvey’s retirement brunch last weekend. It was a
beautiful event and truly appreciated.
P.P.S. Don’t forget to bring
a little bottle to get some
Easter Holy Water from the
font in front. Easter Water is
special since it is blessed
only once a year and is a
powerful sacramental for
blessing yourself and your
home.

May God Be With You As You Continue Your Journey In Faith
INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK
Alleluia, the Lord is risen! Mary of Magdala went to Jesus' tomb and found that it was empty. She was
the first witness of the Resurrection and announced the empty tomb to other disciples. We are called
to be witnesses too. Can you imagine the joy the disciples experienced when they realized that Jesus
was actually raised from the dead? Sometimes our faith in the Resurrection can run lukewarm. We
don't fully doubt that Jesus was raised but we aren't fully convinced either. Once we become
convinced our lives, no matter where our roads take us, will automatically radiate with joy. Like Mary,
we are called to then share that joy with others so that they may realize that it is the Lord and come to
believe.

“Set your minds on things that are
above, not on things that are on earth.” - Colossians 3:2
Do you put God first in all things? Possessions,
money, power, ego can easily become gods to
many of us. Do a quick check of what is
important to your. Is God at the very top of the
list? If not, your priorities need to be re-adjusted.
Don’t let earthly things become a god before
God.

EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP - RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS
At Easter, we celebrate that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, conquered death, rose from the dead, and remains
very much alive. To the world of non-believers: what!? It is quite a big reality to swallow. But for the believer, it is a
reality that inspires us to the point where we find ourselves constantly sharing the Gospel with everyone we meet!
Right?
So what does Easter mean to you? The question is not what do you believe. The question is what impact does
Easter have on you? How do your actions demonstrate the power of Easter? What does it mean we you hear that
we, the Church, are an Easter people?
You may be saying right now that you have no intention of becoming an evangelist, passing out Bibles to all you
meet. But I would like to suggest that you actually have a more powerful way of evangelizing others: everyday
stewardship. Actions speak louder than words and the way you live your life can be a great testimony to all those
you encounter. By acknowledging the gifts you have been given, cultivating those so they grow to an increase,
and then sharing them fully with God and with others in God's name will give testimony to your belief that Jesus is
alive and seeking a relationship with each of his people.
If more of us won't live our lives in this manner, then non-believers and non-intentional disciples will ask the
question, "What difference does Easter make anyway?" Jesus died and rose for you and me. To be sure, it DOES
make a difference.

Sharing the Gospel
Mary Magdalene was surprised when she found
the empty tomb of Jesus. She ran and told
Peter and John that his body was gone. Peter
and John ran to the tomb. They found no body,
just strips of cloth. One piece was the cloth that
covered the face of Jesus. Peter and John
knew that Jesus was not in the grave, even
though they did not understand what it meant
to rise from the dead.
Prayer
Jesus, you died and rose from the dead so I can
share your life on earth and in heaven. Thank
you.
Mission for the Week
I will tell someone that Jesus is alive.
