From the Pastor

Daily Prayer For Priests O Jesus, I pray for your faithful and fervent priests; For your unfaithful and tepid priests; For your priests laboring at home or abroad in distant mission fields. For your tempted priests; For your lonely and desolate priests; For your young priests; For your dying priests; For the souls of your priests in Purgatory. But above all, I recommend to you the priests dearest to me: The priest who baptized me; The priests who absolved me from my sins; The priests at whose Masses I assisted and who gave me Your Body and Blood in Holy Communion; The priests who taught and instructed me; All the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way (especially_________). O Jesus, keep them all close to your heart, And bless them abundantly in time and in Eternity. Amen By St. Therese of Lisieux

Our Mission St. Charles is a Christ focused, diverse, family centered, Catholic community serving Imperial Beach and the South Bay. We believe in the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist and His saving grace received through the Sacraments. We believe in the Holy Catholic Church instituted by Jesus, the sanctity of life, the value of family, and lifelong Catholic education for all ages. We live to deepen our love of God, spread His Gospel and bring others to Christ. We are committed to a life of prayer, sacrifice, and service to those in need. With love, humility, and joyful obedience, we strive to be transformed and guided by the Holy Spirit until we are transformed in the eternal life of Heaven.

TRUST IN GOD In our Gospel today we see how Joseph wants to change God’s plans by quietly divorcing Mary. We know that Mary was betrothed to Joseph. This is essentially means that the marriage was pre-arranged and that Mary was already promised to Joseph. Could it be that Joseph did not want to marry a woman who was carrying a child that was not his? What-ever Joseph’s reasons were for wanting to divorce Mary, he is put at ease at the words of the angel “do not be afraid.” The angel Gabriel uses these same words with Mary to put her at ease. These words invite us to trust

God. May our prayer today be to trust in God in the same way that Joseph and Mary trusted in God. – Fr. Emilio

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;

Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is error, the truth; Where there is doubt, the faith; Where there is despair, hope;

Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek

To be consoled, as to console; To be understood, as to understand;

To be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive;

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; And it is in dying that we are born to eternal

life. Amen.

Sta. Therese de Lisieux
