Second Collection The collection for the Care of the Aging and Infirmed Priests of the Archdiocese will be taken up at all Masses this weekend. Thank you for your prayers and your financial sup-port of this annual collection.
Lent is the penitential season of the Church year and begins on Ash Wednesday and ends with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday. Catholics who are fourteen years of age and older are bound to abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday (February 17, 2021) on all the Fridays of Lent and Good Friday (April 2, 2021). Further, all persons eighteen years of age and older, up to and including their fifty-ninth birthday, are bound to fast by limiting themselves to a single full meal on Ash Wednesday and on Good Friday, while the other two meals on those days are to be light. All the faithful are encouraged, when possible, to participate at Mass and to receive the Holy Eucharist daily, to celebrate frequently the Sacrament of Penance, to undertake spiritual reading, espe-cially the study of the Sacred Scriptures, and to participate in parish Lenten devotions as well as Lenten education programs.
February 17
Masses on Ash Wednesday Ashes will be distributed during the Mass
6:30am, 8:30am, 5:00pm, 7:00pm

Responsorial Psalm I turn to you, Lord, in time of trouble,
and you fill me with the joy of salvation.
Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
(all bow) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Bap-tism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
First Reading ~ Book of Leviticus 13:1-2, 44-46
The LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “If someone has on his skin a scab or pustule or blotch which appears to be the sore of leprosy, he shall be brought to Aaron, the priest, or to one of the priests among his descendants. If the man is leprous and unclean, the priest shall declare him unclean by reason of the sore on his head.
“The one who bears the sore of leprosy shall keep his gar-ments rent and his head bare, and shall muffle his beard; he shall cry out, ‘Unclean, unclean!’ As long as the sore is on him he shall declare himself unclean, since he is in fact un-clean. He shall dwell apart, making his abode outside the camp.”
The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
Second Reading Letter of St. Paul to Corinthians 10:31-11:1
Brothers and sisters, Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God. Avoid giving of-fense, whether to the Jews or Greeks or the church of God, just as I try to please everyone in every way, not seeking my own benefit but that of the many, that they may be saved. Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.
The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
Holy Gospel ~ Mark 1:40-45
A leper came to Jesus and kneeling down begged him and said, “If you wish, you can make me clean.” Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand, touched him, and said to him, “I do will it. Be made clean.” The leprosy left him immedi-ately, and he was made clean. Then, warning him sternly, he dismissed him at once.
He said to him, “See that you tell no one anything, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them.”
The man went away and began to publicize the whole matter. He spread the report abroad so that it was impossible for Jesus to enter a town openly. He remained outside in deserted places, and people kept coming to him from everywhere.
The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time February 14, 2021
FOCUS: Let us turn to Christ today to heal our wounds.
Jesus enters into our spiritual and physical suffering with his mercy to heal our separation from God and draw us back into the relationship for which we are made. The leper’s faith can lead us also to confidently seek Christ out today. Jesus, the eternal Word of God, draws near to us to heal us of every wound.
LITURGY OF THE WORD: The Lord gives instruc-tions to Moses and Aaron for how to deal with leprosy. In the second reading, Paul encourages the Corinthians to do everything for the glory of God. In the Gospel, a leper asks Jesus to make him clean, and after he is made so, he then begins to publicize the whole matter. REFLECTION: Paul counsels us that we give glory to God when we serve one another and seek unity among God’s people. God is not glorified if my choices cause wrangling and division in the community. If fact, such behavior is a negative witness to those who may be young in the faith or considering joining the community. So we ask ourselves:
How does my daily life reflect my identity as a Christian?
What do I do that denies my claim to be a Christian?

A Valentine’s Prayer
I said a Valentine prayer for you and asked the Lord God above
to fill your heart and bless your soul with the precious gift of holy love.
I asked Him for sincere and selfless love The kind that’s meant to stay
Just like the clean and generous love You give to those you touch each day.
I prayed for love from family And from every cherished friend
Then I asked the Lord Jesus to give you His same love that knows no end.

Year of St. Joseph December 8, 2020—December 8, 2021
Joseph laid down his life for God and for a son who was not biologically his own, showing us all what a true life of trust and discipleship looks like. Here are some of our favorite quotes about Saint Joseph that will strengthen your devotion to him.
“Those who give themselves to prayer should in a special manner have always a devotion to St. Joseph; for I know not how any man can think of the Queen of the angels, dur-ing the time that she suffered so much with the Infant Jesus, without giving thanks to St. Joseph for the services he ren-dered them then.” St. Teresa of Avila
“We should, indeed, honor St. Joseph, since the Son of God Himself was graciously pleased to honor him by calling him father…If, then, the King of Kings was pleased to raise Jo-seph to so high a dignity, it is right and obligatory on our part to endeavor to honor him as much as we can.” St. Alphonsus Liguori
“Though thou hast recourse to many saints as thine inter-cessors, go specially to St. Joseph, for he has great power with God. St. Teresa of Avila
Manna Food Drive Next weekend we continue the collec-tion of non-perishable food items for those in need. Please bring canned goods, peanut butter, pasta, etc. to the vestibule of the church. God bless you for helping others.
Sponsor a Student (2021-2022) This program helps our families who want to send their children to Saint Cecilia School and may have some financial diffi-culty along the way. With your help these families can keep their child in our school and receive a good Catholic education. There are several gifting levels and payment options - You can make a one time payment or select any option you wish. We will identify those students with the greatest need and allocate the funds accordingly. For more information on this program or to give a tax deductible gift, please feel free to contact Lisa Hnat, Tuition Coordinator at [email protected] or 215-725-2201.
