Parish Mission As disciples of Jesus Christ in the Roman Catholic
Cathedral Parish of Saint Cecilia, through the ministry of
the Archbishop, we share Christ's presence with all we
encounter by our sacramental participation, our parish
community, and living the Word of God.
Become a Parishioner! We welcome new members who are interested in making
Saint Cecilia Cathedral their parish home. Contact Sheila
Graham at the Administration Office 402-551-2313
or email [email protected] to start your
registration process now. Welcome!!
Coat Drive Bring in new or gently used coats
for kids for the St. Vincent DePaul
and Knights of Columbus 17th
annual Coats for Kids initiative.
Collection boxes will be in the
south entry of the Cathedral
the weekends of October 16/17
and 23/24.
St. Vincent de Paul Reflection In the Gospel today Jesus tells his disciples: “Anyone
among you who aspires to greatness must serve the
rest; whoever wants to rank first among you must
serve the needs of all.”
When you give the furniture, household items
and clothing you no longer use to the Society of
St. Vincent de Paul, you give HOPE to your neighbors
who have nothing. Did you know that the Society
now has five stores throughout the metro area?
You can help SVdP help a neighbor in need by
donating your gently used clothing and household
goods. We are especially in need of fall/winter
clothing and holiday items. 402-341-1688.

Night Prayer
"Night Prayer is a part of
Liturgy of the Hours.
It consists of Morning,
Evening, and Night prayers with some in between
which usually religious pray. Saint Paul says to pray
without ceasing. Liturgy of the Hours is a way for
this command to be lived out within the Church.
At every hour of the day, throughout the world,
someone (laity, priest, religious) is praising God
through Scripture given to us by the Church.
I love Night Prayer as it is a great way to pray and
reflect on my day as well as learn how to pray with
Scripture."

Saint Cecilia Parish Saint Cecilia School Saint Cecilia Child Care Center
Our parish is the home, heart, and
foundation of the Omaha Archdiocese.
We minister to people throughout the
Omaha area and beyond. As a Roman
Catholic parish, we welcome people of
diverse backgrounds into a worshiping,
ministering community, and graciously
accept our leadership role in the
Archdiocese and community. Our
Cathedral parish consists of over 900
households. The heart of Saint Cecilia is
the people. Every person in this parish
is invited to become a part of the
life of our parish through ministries,
activities, and committees.
Our award-winning Catholic school
was founded in 1907 in the Dominican
tradition. We welcome and educate
a diverse population of children in
PreKindergarten through 8th Grade.
We are committed to fostering a
Christian learning environment and
proclaiming and modeling faith,
worship, service and prayer. Our
mission is to teach and live the
Catholic faith within a nurturing
family-like community, to teach
reverence for life and respect for all,
and to foster each student's academic
potential.
Located on the Cathedral campus and
adjacent to the grade school, our child
care center is licensed for children
6 weeks to 13 years old. With close
access to a fenced-in playground
and sports field, the children have a
wonderful opportunity for gross motor
skills. We offer activities for social
and cognitive development. Language,
math, creative art, dramatic play,
singing, pre-writing and other “learning
through play” activities are taught by
our qualified staff in a safe, loving and
child-friendly environment. Start your
Cathedral journey with us!
Know Your Cathedral The actual construction of the new Cathedral church took nearly fifty-three years. Saint Cecilia parish grew along
with the construction of the Cathedral, and was the largest Catholic parish in the Diocese of Omaha at the time
of World War II. By 1959, the towers were completed, massive bells installed, and the Cathedral was consecrated.
