Friday 27th November 2020
My dear people,
What wonderful news that we have gone through 28 consecutive days of no new cases. It is indeed a great testimony to all our perseverance and hard work. Praised be Jesus!
I am so looking forward to seeing 100 people in the church this weekend. I can ’t forget the wonderful memories of having a full church. I know that we are far from that at the moment but 100 people will fill my heart with joy. As you know we are continuing with our TryBooking account. A reminder that bookings for Masses from Tuesday to Sunday will be open from 1pm the Sunday before and close two hours before each Mass. At this stage, we ask you to book for weekend Masses once every two weeks to enable as many people as possible to come to Mass. However, I warmly encourage you to check the number of seats available three hours before each Mass. If you find there still seats available, then by all means, please book. I would rather see 100 people at church than anything less than 100. Those without internet/computer access or who find the online booking system too complex can call the office for assistance in booking a seat. As we have more people coming in, which will require individual signing in, seat allocation and giving of instructions, it is of utmost importance that you are in the church at least thirty minutes before the start of Mass. We will lock up the church 10 minutes before Mass starts to enable our parishioners helping with the tasks I have mentioned to wrap up and be seated themselves.
The Vicar General confirmed with me this week that Deacon Chris will be with us as Permanent Deacon until the end of the year. He has been appointed Permanent Deacon to Melton. Please join me in warmly congratulating him and wishing him all of God’s blessings as he takes up this new appointment. A reminder that he is with us as Pastoral Associate also until the end of the year.
I am also delighted to announce two leadership position appointments at Christ the Priest Catholic Primary Schools. Mrs Catherine Quinn-Dundon has been appointed Deputy Principal and Mrs Connie Skinner has been appointed Religious Education Leader. We warmly welcome them to our community and look forward to our interactions with them.
While our lives are slowly getting back to normal, we have been able to find a way to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation for the candidates in the two parish primary schools. This will happen on the 8th, 10th and 11th December. Please join me in praying for our primary school children who will be receiving this wonderful sacrament.
If you are interested in joining us to pray the rosary as a community, please send an email to [email protected] and the ZOOM meeting details will be sent to you. Again we are enjoying virtual drinks after praying the rosary on Saturdays. If you would like to join for that part only, please feel free to do so.
As always, I am available at the presbytery and am happy to offer any assistance that may be required.
We continue turning to our patron saint and we ask for her intercession.
St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us .
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Fr Richard Rosse PP
THE month of November is the month when,
traditionally, in the church, we pray for our deceased
relatives and friends. As is the custom of this parish,
we will place the “Memorial Book of the Dead” on the
sanctuary for the duration of Mass in November.
COVID-19 makes it impossible for you to add the
names of your loved ones, who have died in the last
year, in the book yourselves.
Therefore, we invite you to email the parish office
the names of your loved ones and we will inscribe
their names in the book.
Congratulations to Rev. Fr Frank Buhagiar, PE who will be celebrating
49th Anniversary of his Priestly Ordination
on Friday, 4th December.
For it is attested of him, ‘You are a priest for ever, according to the order of Melchizedek.’

We are not asking for special treatment - just

Just released:
The Place of the Kyriale: The Ordinary of the Mass in Catholic History, Liturgy and Music
by Marie Therese Levey, rsj
THE prayers of the Ordinary, or the people's parts of the Mass, have formed a type of spiritual chain which has linked all the prayers of the Mass together since the first years of Christianity.
The current book is a response by the author to a need expressed by fellow parish musicians to know more about the origin of the people’s sung parts of the Mass.
In this work the reader will meet well known saints who loved to praise God in song and contributed to the Kyriale: Ss Gregory I the Great, Bernard of Clairvaux, Hildegard of Bingen, Francis of Assisi, Dominic of Osma. You will also meet those who made life difficult for them. The work is full of stories of “saints and sinners …. very human figures (who) come alive in these pages".
