My dear parishioners, The Gospel of this third Sunday in Ordinary Time

speaks to us about the public ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ in Galilee and the voca-tions of the first disciples, namely Simon Pe-ter and his brother Andrew, James and his brother John. From the account of this Gos-pel, they were fishermen. But the Lord called them and entrusted them with the mis-sion to bring souls to salvation. They be-came fishers of men. But the mission of the disciples follows what the Lord himself started when he proclaimed, “This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gos-pel” (Mark 1:15). Jesus came to establish and to reveal the Kingdom of God by what he preached and did. Thus, inviting all of us to be part of God’s Kingdom by receiving forgiveness for our sins, through repentance and fidelity to the Word of God. Once we have received the grace of re-pentance, we too, like the first disciples, can now become fishers of men. Our Christian conduct should attract others to experience salvation in Jesus Christ. Our lives should become the door inviting others to faith, and not the wall turning them away. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Fr. Peter Mawusi, our new paro-chial vicar. Open the doors of your hearts to welcome him and make him feel at home. I pray that his ministry among us may be fruitful and may bring many souls to Christ. God bless you always.
