GET REAL! Those of us who flatter ourselves that we have a “realistic” view of the world may listen to the first reading today and say, “Get real!” when we hear Luke’s account of the early, Elysian days of the Christian movement. All seems to be rosy, lots of wonders are performed, everyone shares selflessly, they eat together in “exultation,” and the Lord added to their numbers? Well, who wouldn’t be attracted to a group like this? From the wind that swept through the upper room at Pentecost as the Spirit of God blew over the face of the waters in Genesis, and the fire that appeared over each disciple as the light appeared at the dawn of creation, Luke’s intent in Acts is to show a new creation, a restoration of creation’s original goodness through the working of the Holy Spirit. It is the Spirit who continues to make us into the Body of Christ. We may occasionally, like Thomas in the Gospel, say, “Get real!” but our ultimate reality in the Spirit is to work continually to make our Christian community a new creation, one in which others will find God’s joy and beauty. © Copyright, J. St. Benedict News…..

What a great Saint Benedict Catholic School German Festival on April 29th!!! The Raven Run went off without a hitch, and various performing arts groups ranging from rock bands to the SBCS Performance Choir kept everyone entertained. Arts and craft booths had plenty for everyone's craft interests. Delicious German food, beer and sweets fed many hungry and thirsty souls. The Trash or Treasures rummage sale sold all sorts of great lightly used products, and the grand prize raffle ticket winner was Karen Lepik.

Next week, on May 11th, will be the annual Field Day run by the middle school, and on May 18th, "The Big Bad Musical" will be presented at 6:00pm. Tickets are $5.00 and will be sold at the door. Join us for these next great events!

There will not be refreshments between the

Masses on Sunday May 7th due to the First

Communion Reception after the 10:30 AM Mass.

The Parish Hall Parking space is not finished.

Please use it with care. Once the grass is

completely grown in, the lot will be

safe walking (even high heels).
