Greetings my friends: It’s difficult to comprehend, but, all of the flowers, statues, and decorations that graced our church for the past couple of weeks and months are gone. Looking back, however, what a wonderful Lent we had here at St. Anselm. Our Easter celebration and season made our church and parish feel extra special for quite some time. The beautiful shrine to Our Lady of Mercy was not only an “eye-catcher”, but also a wonderful reminder that even after the month of May passes Our Blessed Mother continues to be at our side throughout the entire year. A few more things to catch up on… Once again, a great deal of thanks to all who planned, participated in, and volunteered for our carnival. So much goes into the planning and implementing of such a large, wonderful event. Again, a thank you to Jen Cutler and Sue Van Allen for their work throughout the year for our carnival. This time of year we say hello and good bye to many different ministries and duties in our church community. A thank you to our Eighth Grade altar servers who are serving Mass for the last time these past couple of weekends. A greeting to our new 5th and 6th Grade altar servers. You will be as great as those who preceded you. A farewell to the high school sacristans who have taken such good care of our church on the weekends. Since March of this year, we say goodbye and thank you to D.J. Martin; Albert Wolf; and, Sean Hines. This past week, I had the opportunity and pleasure to attend both the Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation ceremony for Archbishop Ryan High School. The Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul was wonderful, especially with the graduates who are St. Anselm parishioners involved with various liturgical functions. The Graduation ceremony, held at Temple University, was a fine salute to the Class of 2016. I had an opportunity to have my picture taken with a group of graduates from St. Anselm. God bless the graduates and their families. Some I had a chance to be with and talk to before, during, and after the graduation. Well done, Class of 2016. As a Judge grad, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but “We are AR!” Our prayer garden is taking shape for the summer. Thank you to all who take care of their little pieces of paradise. The garden itself, as well as all of the little shrines and areas around the church, parish center, and spirituality center, are a testament of how our St. Anselm parishioners take awesome pride in their parish. Enough for now… Please remember to contact State Senator Sabatina with regard to House Bill 1947. The Bill, as it stands with its Statutes of Limitations being directed at the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, is not a Bill that is fair to either us or the many children that it claims to protect. If you have contacted the Senator, I say thank you. If not, and you may need some assistance if your contact is to be made via the computer, please stop in the Parish Center and we will be glad to help. The discussions and voting will begin this week in the State Senate in Harrisburg. A prayer or two will also be good. May God bless you as we enter the summer months. Anselm is Awesome! -Fr. Chiriaco

Vincentian Message… As we hear the Gospel today, we realize that sometimes we are like Simon and it’s far easier to see what is wrong in another than it is to see what is wrong in ourselves. But Jesus, who accepts the poor woman without judging or blaming her, shows us what Christian love is all about. Through your almsgiving you are performing a good work, far greater than you think. The coins placed in the St. Vincent DePaul Poor Box bring Christ’s love and compassion to the poor.
