———CALENDAR OF THE WEEK——— !! Dear Parishioners and Visitors, !

This is the weekend known as Corpus Christi in

the Church, a feast dedicated to thanking God for the gift

of Jesus given to us in the Eucharist. The old saying,

“you are what you eat” applies to this great mystery. We

are called to be Christ in the world and to impart the love

of Christ in the world, but we can’t give what we don’t

have, which is why the Eucharist is essential to the plan

of salvation, and we who participate in the Eucharist par-

ticipate in this saving work. We thank God for the close-

ness He has with us through the Eucharist, and we pray

that Christ will always play an active role in our lives,

living and acting in and through us who receive Him in

the Bread of Life and the Cup of Eternal Salvation, until

God is “all in all.”

Corpus Christi is also an opportunity to invite

more of you to the ministry of distributing the Eucharist

at Mass. Some may feel unworthy of this ministry, but

there is an old maxim in Canon Law which says, “if one

can do the greater, one can do the lesser.” And indeed it

is greater to receive the Eucharist than to distribute it,

and while none are ever truly worthy of God’s love, yet

are we loved, called, and made worthy in God’s sight.

So, please consider becoming a Eucharistic Minister.

This month of June which we have just begun is

also the month of high school graduations and both par-

ishes will be taking the opportunity to recognize and

pray for our out-going seniors, as well as offering on be-

half of both parishes, scholarships to help with the ex-

penses of ongoing education. Congratulations Seniors!

Fr. Michael

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE from

the Office of Family Life Education (A Hope Appeal Agency) One gets the impression there was always a

lot of sharing, discussion and learning during the many meals

Jesus and the disciples ate together. How does this compare

to the meals in your home? Today’s gospel challenges us to

make our meals more then physical functions and more a time

for sharing.
