Dear Parishioner, Ave atque vale! Hail and Farewell! The great writer…. The great writer C.S. Lewis has written the following: “Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace.” And farewell! Thank you, dear, dear, people of St. Aloysius Parish, for allowing me to walk the Journey of Faith with you for the last thirteen and a half years. You will always be in my mind, my heart and any prayers. Blessings always, Sincerely in Christ, Msgr. Michael Desmond

Do you plan to use Amazon to shop online?

AmazonSmile is a program that donates 0.5% of your purchases to a charity of your choice. Why not choose your parish of St. Aloysius? Simply go to http://smile.amazon.com/, search for “St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church”, (caldwell) and choose our name. It’s a one-time setup that applies to all eligible future purchases with no additional cost to you! You may think that 0.5% doesn’t sound like much but if hundreds of shoppers in the parish sign up, donations will add up quickly! If you’re shopping anyway, this is just one more way to keep your parish in mind during this charitable season and all year long. Thank you in advance for your support!

St. Aloysius Parish Mission Statement

St. Aloysius Parish is a Roman Catholic community dedicated to celebrating the life and word of Jesus Christ. All are welcome to deepen their spiritual and personal lives through active participation in weekly Liturgy, the celebration of the Sacraments, Parish ministries and community activities. Acknowledging our incompleteness and our need for God’s grace, we commit ourselves, through Baptism, to responding to God’s call to become and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ in our time. Jesus Christ is at the center of all of our lives.

THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Through Baptism, we become Children of God and members of the household of faith. Children should be baptized in the faith community to which their parents belong, that is, the Parish in which they are registered and active members. Call the rectory to make arrangements. Parents are reminded that godparents must have received the Sacrament of Confirmation and are actively practicing their faith.

SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION (Penance) Saturday: 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.; and after the 5:30 pm Mass SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK Please notify one of the parish priests in the event of serious illness. Communal celebrations of the Anointing will be held twice yearly.

We are once again preparing the annual tradition of honoring those couples in our Archdiocese who will be celebrating five, twenty-five and fifty years of Christian marriage in the year 2019. These anniversary liturgies will be celebrated by Cardinal Joseph Tobin in the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark as follows:

April 28, 2019, 3:00 PM 50th Anniversary (All counties)

June 2, 2019 3:00 PM 5th & 25th Anniversary years

It is our desire that every couple in the Archdiocese deserving of such recognition be

present at the appropriate liturgy. The presence of a large number of couples will give favorable witness to the strength and stability of Christian marriage in today's society. Please register in person at the

rectory or by calling 973-226-0221.
