The tropics are warm and moist area near the Earth equator, bounded by the Tropic ofCancer in the north and Tropic of Capricorn to the south. Many research has suggest thatatmospheric condition of the tropics may affect weather and climate over the rest of theplanet. Maritime Continent is the only part of tropics that consists of an archipelago. Thiscomplex mixture of land and sea, along with various atmospheric and oceanic phenomenawithin it, makes MC a unique, enigmatic and challenging area for scientific endeavor ontropical meteorology and atmospheric science. Various observation campaign andcoordinated research has been conducted to better understand the atmospheric and oceaniccondition over the tropics, especially the Maritime Continent. To share recent findings andknowledge on meteorology and atmospheric science of the tropics, especially over MaritimeContinent, we proudly announced the International Conference on Tropical Meteorology andAtmospheric Science (ICTMAS) 2018.
The aim of conference is to promote science and technological research on tropicalmeteorology and atmospheric science (TMAS), and share recent knowledge on the relatedfields. ICTMAS 2018 also aimed to strengthen international collaboration in research andeducation, especially on tropical meteorology and atmospheric science. It will also conveythe spirit to foster a new generation of scientists in meteorology, atmospheric science, andall related discipline. Accepted paper will be publised in IOP Conference Series Earth andEnvironmental Sciences indexed by Scopus.
The conference is co-organized by Center for Atmospheric Science and Technology (PusatSains dan Teknologi Atmosfer - PSTA) of Indonesian National Institute of Aeronautics andSpace (Lembaga Penerbangan dan Antariksa Nasional - LAPAN) and MeteorologyDepartment (Program Studi Meteorologi - ME) of Bandung Institute of Technology (InstitutTeknologi Bandung - ITB). ICTMAS 2018 is highly supported by Indonesian Ministry ofResearch, Technology and Higher Education through Center of Excellent (Pusat UnggulanIPTEK - PUI) program. The conference also supported by Indonesian Agency for Meteorology,Climatology, and Geophysics (Badan Meteorologi Klimatologi dan Geofisika - BMKG) andAgency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (Badan Pengkajian dan PenerapanTeknologi - BPPT). International supports to the conference are given by Japan Agency forMarine Science and Technology (JAMSTEC), Years of the Maritime Continent (YMC), KyotoUniversity. Other institutions also contribute.
