Richmond Christmas Tree FarmRichmond Christmas Tree Farm is opening their farm gate for the first time this December. On the weekend of the 13th and 14th the owners, Jared and Natalie Mendham, will be ready to greet you and your family. You will be able to take a hand saw and head off into the Christmas tree field to find the right tree for your home.Unlike the typical pines that can be found on the side of the road, each of the trees at the Richmond Christmas Tree farm has been pruned regularly to encourage them to bush out into a traditional dense cone shape, perfect for hanging lights, decorations and kids creations.Having spent some years living in Canada, the Mendham’s made an annual trip to a Christmas tree farm to enjoy the local tradition of bringing home a real tree. “It’s a new idea for Southern Tasmania, but we hope families will make a tradition of coming along to the farm each December to take home a real tree,” says Jared. The family started planting pine seedlings in 2012, and come December the first trees will be a good size and shape to take home and decorate.
