GWEN Ibiza In a recent event in New York, five women made a lovely, feminine connection. They hailed from Korea, Japan, China, America, and the Ukraine. By focusing their attention on the bond they shared as women, they consciously generated a kind, generous connection that transcended all their cultures. When two men entered the room, they determined to remain connected in that magical space that women sometimes share when they achieve true friendship. As a result they lifted the men into a surprising new dimension of harmony and pleasure. The receptive yin energy of women appears fragile in the rough and tumble world of business. We created GWEN to provide women with the skills and the discipline to never back down and to raise the bar for men who want to be able to tap into the wise, kind world in which women practice nurturing rather than succumbing to masculine forms of competition. It isn’t enough for women to get equal pay and promotions in a male-dominated game. Our sensitivity and shared awareness adds tremendous value to the game of business. Men and women have a lot to give one another. GWEN is where you come to learn how to make your contribution.

Hot Times We got an unexpected heat wave on Ibiza in July and August—the hottest on record. After a couple rainy days, we are enjoying the first days of fall. The sunshine is nice and the sea is as warm as a bathtub. The forecast calls for lower temperatures, down to 28 degrees Celsius, over the next few weeks. Fall will come soon enough, followed by our usual mild winter, so we are soaking up the sun while we can. The beach is doubling as our holiday location and office. The tourists look at us strangely when we spread our work out on a beach blanket. But when they ask, we tell them that our job requires us to conduct our business from the seaside.


Women today have more options than our mothers and grandmothers. We can choose to become homemakers, or take corporate jobs, or we can transform our passion into our profession. I chose the latter. Mine is no easy life. I often feel that I am swimming with sharks. Nevertheless, I adore my career. There is no easy life. Every path has impossible challenges. The journey between the cradle and the grave is brief and brutal. You have to earn a living, and you have to stave off the people who want to hold you back. I was fortunate to find the vital force in my heart so that I had an inner light to guide me right from the beginning of my adult life. I also found friends who are dedicated to me living life on my own terms. This week I am preparing for the Geisha School in Thailand in December. You wouldn’t believe how much work goes into finding the right location and making sure that all of the women get the support they need to make this the adventure of a lifetime. I love every moment of the planning, the preparation, and the pleasure we will share.
