SIM Cards (GSM Only)TheGSMmodel of the SA-G+ includes an onboard SIM carrier that supports 1.8/3V SIM cards. The SIM cardis an integral part of anyGSM terminal device programmedwith subscriber information. User informationconsists of an International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) number, which you can register with the GSMservice provider, and an encryption Ki (pronounced “key”). Insert the SIM card in themodem to install it.

The SA-G+ does not comewith a SIM. Youmust obtain a SIM from theGSM service provider and provision itfor data and/or voice. Always take care to protect the SIM: the GSM terminal will not operate without the SIMinstalled.

Inserting a SIMCard in a GSM/GPRS SA-G+ Device

Insert the SIM card in the slot, note the notchmust be in the upper left hand corner.

After inserting the SIM card, youMUSTmove the SIM lock switch to the left. If the lock is open, there will notbe power for the SIM.

Device Activation (CDMA Only)With CDMA devices, the user must contact the service provider to activate the device. Theywill need toprovide theMEID of the device to the provider. Once the provider has acknowledged that the device is readyto activate, the user will then be required to send an activation string to the network.

Send the activation string: AT+CDV*22899. This will initiate a call with the network. A successful call will lastapproximately 40 seconds. If the call is terminated within 10-15 seconds, the call was not successful. Severalattemptsmight be required. If after a few attempts the call is not successful, please check theMEID of thedevice and compare it to theMEID provided to the provider.

To verify that the activation has successfully completed, attempt a voice call AT+CDVxxxxxx. If the call issuccessful, then theOTASP was successful.
