30 Hours | $595 Contract | $8,000This course covers OSHA Standards, policies, and procedures in the construction industry. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA Construction Standards, construction safety and health principles, and special emphasis on those areas in construction which are most hazardous. Upon course completion, students will have the ability to define construction terms found in the OSHA Construction Standards; identify hazards which occur in the construction industry; locate and determine appropriate OSHA Construction Standards, policies, and procedures; and describe the use of the OSHA Construction Standards and regulations to supplement an ongoing workplace safety and health program.

OSHA #500Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for Construction

30 Hours | $695 Contract | $9,000This course prepares the student to become a trainer in the OSHA Outreach Training Program, to conduct both 10- and 30-hour Construction Outreach classes, and to issue cards to participants after verifying course completion. Using OSHA Construction Standards as a guide, the course places special emphasis on those topics required in the 10- and 30-hour programs, as well as those which are most hazardous. Students are briefed on effective instructional approaches and use of visual aids and handouts. Students must prepare a presentation on an assigned OSHA Construction Outreach Training Program topic, either individually or as part of a group, and pass a written exam at the end of the course.

Prerequisites: Students must successfully complete the OSHA #510 OSHA Standards for Construction and have five (5) years of safety and health work experience in the construction industry.

Refresher Training: Authorized OSHA Outreach Training Program trainers are required to attend the OSHA #502 Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers at least once every four (4) years to maintain their trainer status.

outreach training programThe OSHA #500, #501, #5400 and #5600 are part of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Outreach Training Program. Completion of these courses authorizes individuals as an Outreach Trainer. Authorized Outreach Trainers deliver 10- and 30-hour outreach classes to workers in construction, general industry, maritime, and 15-hour classes for disaster site workers.

The Outreach Training Portal is a web-based application designed with our trainers in mind to provide a more efficient and reliable method of requesting Outreach cards.

The United States Department of Labor OSHA Outreach Training Program provides training for workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces. The program also provides information regarding workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. This is a voluntary program and does not meet training requirements for any OSHA standards.

OSHA #501 Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for General Industry

30 Hours | $695 Contract | $9,000This course prepares the student to become a trainer in the OSHA Outreach Training Program, to conduct both 10- and 30-hour General Industry Outreach classes, and to issue cards to participants after verifying course completion. Using the OSHA General Industry Standards as a guide, the course places special emphasis on those topics required in the 10- and 30-hour programs as well as those which are most hazardous. Students are briefed on effective instructional approaches and use of visual aids and handouts. Students must prepare a presentation on an assigned OSHA General Industry Outreach Training Program topic, either individually or as part of a group, and pass a written exam at the end of the course.

Prerequisites: Students must successfully complete the OSHA #511 OSHA Standards for General Industry and have five (5) years of safety and health work experience in general industry.

CancellationsUT Arlington reserves the right to change or cancel any class. In the event that a class must be changed or cancelled, you will be notified by email and/or phone. You are required to provide a valid email address and phone number to ensure notification. The decision to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment will be made approximately 1-2 business days prior to the class start date.

If a course is cancelled by UT Arlington, students have the option to transfer to another course, have their funds held in escrow, or receive a refund. No fees will be charged for these transactions if UT Arlington cancels a class.

Student Withdrawal and Transfer PolicyIf a student withdraws from a class more the 2 full business days before the class, they may transfer to another class at no charge; hold fees in escrow up to one year at no charge; or refund their course fee less a $35 processing charge for fees less than $1,000, or 5% of fees over $1,000.

If a student withdraws from a class at any time from 2 days prior to the class start date or after a class begins, the fees are non-refundable. They may transfer to another class at no charge or hold the fees in escrow at no charge.

All student withdrawal requests must be received via telephone, Monday-Friday during normal business hours.

Discounts• Students over the age of 55 and UT Arlington Alumni may receive a 10% discount.

• 5 for 5%: Pay for 5 registrations at one time and receive 5% off of the total open enrollment price.

• Individuals needing to attend the Update for Outreach Trainer courses can take the full-length Outreach Trainer course for the price of the Update course if one is not offered in their area.

Note: Discounts cannot be applied retroactively to classes already taken or in progress.

TextbooksAll course materials will be provided by UT Arlington unless otherwise indicated. Additional Codes of Federal Regulations (CFRs) may be purchased in small quantities at the following prices by contacting our office: 29 CFR 1910 - $25; 29 CFR 1926 - $20
