PYROMIX® - Mortar insulation System description

The PYROMIX® system from OBO is used to createcable and combination insulation made of a mine-ral fibre-free special mortar. Depending on theamount of water added, the finished compoundcan be applied to openings by hand, with pumpsor with presses. The high level of substrate adhe-

sion makes lining unnecessary for small insulationareas. The porous consistency of the mortarmeans that retroinstallation is easy. If there is a fire,the fire protection mortar reliably prevents thespread of fire and smoke.

Stir the mortar with water until thedesired consistency is reached.

Apply mortar to the opening, uselining as necessary.

Use approved section insulationfor metal pipes.

Soft insulation, PYROPLATE® Fibre System description

The PYROPLATE® Fibre system from OBO is usedto create cable and combination insulation. Thecore of the system is the mineral fibre plate coatedwith a moisture-resistant ablation coating. Whenthere is a fire, the fire protection coating creates aninsulating carbon foam and, in combination withthe mineral fibre plate, prevents the spread of fireand smoke. According to the European Technical

Assessment, in addition to the cables, pipes madeof steel, copper or various plastics may also be runthrough the same insulation. For pipelines, additio-nal fire protection measures, such as section insu-lation and pipe sleeves, are required. The mortar orsoft insulation made of PYROPLATE® Fibre is thuscombination insulation which is appropriate fordiverse structures.

The installation is possible in light-duty partition walls or in solidwalls.

Moisten the component layer andapply the coating to the cutedges for adhesion.

The plates can be inserted care-fully with a hammer and board.

PYROBAG® Bag insulation System description

The PYROBAG® system from OBO is used tocreate cable insulation from fire protection cus-hions. The fire protection cushions, which can beshaped in any way, are stacked simply and quicklyon top of each other, allowing absolutely tidy anddust-free mounting. The cushions can be used forpermanent or temporary insulation in walls and cei-lings, e.g. during renovations. The fire protectioncushions are an ideal solution for frequent retroin-

stallations. Additional cables can be installedquickly, neatly and economically at a later datebecause the cushions can be used several timesover. The cushions consist of a close-knit, denseand mechanically solid glass fabric with a specialfilling. Fire protection foam PYROSIT® NG System description

The PYROPLATE® NG system from OBO is used tocreate cable and combination insulation made offire protection foam. The special recipe of the 2-component foam allows simple, "pinpointed" pro-cessing. The good substrate adhesion prevents thefoam from running out of the opening. Work caneasily be interrupted to carry out checks. The sys-tem can be installed without dust and fibres. Sur-face coating is not necessary. According to the

construction approval, in addition to the cables,pipes made of steel, copper or various plasticsmay also be run through the same insulation. ThePYROSIT® NG insulation is suitable as combinationinsulation for different units. Due to the soft consis-tency, the insulation made of PYROSIT® NG can bereassigned simply. The insulation system can becombined with the PYROPLUG® Block foam block.

PYROPLUG® Block System description

The OBO PYROPLUG® Block combination insula-tion is created from foam blocks, which, if there isa fire, expand without any noticeable pressurecreation. In so doing, they form an insulating car-bon foam. This reliably prevents the penetration offire and smoke through the cable insulation. Com-bustible pipes can be run in this insulation without

an additional sleeve. Copper and steel pipes canbe insulated either with or without section insula-tion. All the PYROPLUG® Block insulation is com-pletely dust and fibre-free. The PYROPLUG® Peg system from OBO is used tocreate cable insulation with fire protection foamplugs. The foam plugs are ideal for closing coredrill holes in solid walls and concrete ceilings. PYROPLUG® Box box insulationSystem description

The PYROPLUG® Box system from OBO is used tocreate cable insulation with boxes made of foam.The system is particularly suitable for simple moun-ting of cable insulation in light-duty partitions. Nolayering is required. Installation in solid walls andsolid ceilings is also possible and approved. Theinsulation system consists of a two-part frame andtwo matching internal pieces. The permanently ela-

stic, closed-pore foam material expands in theevent of fire without any significant pressure build-up, thus creating an insulating plastic foam. Thisreliably prevents the penetration of fire and smokethrough the cable insulation. The usable area of theboxes corresponds to the maximum approval cableassignment area of 60%. It is thus impossible toover assign it with cables.

PYROCOMB® pipe sleeveSystem description

The PYROCOMB® system can be used as indepen-dent pipe sealing for combustible pipes (e.g. sani-tary wastewater pipes). It is primarily made up ofthe pipe sleeves, type TCX. In the event of fire, thefire protection material inserted within the sealfoams up after a few minutes under high pressure,closing the soft plastic pipes. This safely prevents

the spread of fire and smoke, should a fire occur.With wall mounting, the pipe sleeves are mountedon both sides of the wall with metal anchors. Cei-ling penetrations only have a tube seal from theunderside. In light-duty partitions, the pipe sleevesare fastened on passed-through threaded rods andconnected together.

PYROCOMB® Intube pipe shellSystem description

The PYROCOMB® Intube system is used to createcable insulation with pipe shells or half shells. Thepipe shell is particularly suitable for core drill holesand can very easily be installed in solid ceilings orwalls and also light-duty partitions. For this, two halfpipe sleeves are clicked together and bedded inmortar in the core hole. Then the pipe sleeves areclosed with seals and the surface is sealed withASX ablation coating. The cables don't require any

coating. The half shell can be used particularly wellin the underfloor area. It is sealed on one side withfire protection plugs and sealed with ASX ablationcoating. In case of a fire, the inner coating of thepipe shell or the half shell expands and, in sodoing, closes the opening cross-section comple-tely. The transfer of fire and smoke is thus safelyprevented. With the PYROCOMB® Intube system,100% assignment of the interior is possible.

PYROMIX Screed® small insulation System description

Small insulation for cables is created using thePYROMIX® Screed system. It consists of OBO'sinsulation forming material, type DSX, and the MIWmineral wool. As the insulation basis, the openingis first filled using the non-combustible mineralwool (melting point ≥ 1,000 °C). Then, both sides

of the opening are sealed with the DSX insulationcreator. If there is a fire, the filler foams up, preven-ting penetration by fire and smoke. When the mate-rial foams up, heat is also drawn from the cables,thus considerably reducing the transfer of heat viathe copper cores.

PYROWRAP® Wet FSB-WLSApplication in interior areas and wet roomsSystem description

The PYROWRAP® Wet FSB-WLS system can beused to wrap large cable bundles or cable supportsystems within the fire sections, in order to preventthe spread of a fire. The mesh possesses a fireprotection coating, which stops a fire in its tracks atan early stage, e.g. in the case of a short circuit. Ifthere is fire coming in from the outside, the mate-rial is not involved in the course of the fire, effec-tively preventing the spread of the fire, both in verti-cal and horizontal directions.

In the escape and rescue routes of small buildings,the mounting of a cable bandage is permitted, asonly low smoke development is to be expectedand only a small number of people must be eva-cuated. In larger buildings, the residual risk ofsmoke development is accepted, even if considera-bly more people must be evacuated. Here, the fireprotection bandage frequently presents the onlyeconomic solution compared to fire protection cei-lings or panelling with plate materials.
