IAPB’s 10th General Assembly (10GA), October 27–30, 2016
Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya (SNC), Chitrakoot,
participated in IAPB’s 10th General Assembly
(10GA) in Durban, South Africa scheduled from
October 27–30, 2016. Dr. Elesh Jain, Adminis-
trator SNC, was one among the 5 invited speak-
ers from India who shared achievements of Shri
Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust in creating Cataract
backlog free Zones in India. Mr. D. Subraman-
yam and Mr. Subeesh Kuyyadiyil also attended
the conference. From Sadguru, two papers and a
poster were presented at the forum on eye care.

conference on Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus titled ‘Sadguru Conclave –
CONVERGENCE 2016’ on 7-8th December 2016 at Chitrakoot. Stalwarts from all over
the world gave new dimensions to the field of Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus.

Sadguru Conclave –CONVERGENCE 2016, 7-8th December 2016
The conference commenced with sessions on various topics related to Paediatric Cataract,
Strabismus, Paediatric related diseases, Retinopalsy of Prematurity, Cornea and
Oculoplasty by the International and National Faculty. An interactive session of 3-D
surgical video on orbit and Oculoplasty was showcased by Dr. Honavar. A special session
on ‘Research Methodology’ was conducted by Dr. Agnieshka Baumritter covering all
aspects on the subject.
Quiz Contest, 8th December 2016
A Quiz contest was conducted during
Sadguru Conclave with attractive priz-
es. Among 28 teams (56 Candidates) 6
teams qualified for the grand finale of
Sadguru PG Quiz. The teams that
qualified were PGI Chandigarh,
MGMMC Indore, Sadguru Netra
Chikitsalaya Chitrakoot, KGMC Lucknow, GMC Kanpur and SSMC Rewa. The winning
team was from Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya (also the winner of MPSOC 2016 Quiz held
at Bhopal, M.P.) while PGI, Chandigarh and MGMMC, Indore were second and third run-
ner-ups respectively.

Vision-2020 Workshop on “COST MANAGEMENT FOR NGO EYE HOSPITALS”,
17th December 2016
Vision 2020: The Right to Sight- India and Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya, Chitrakoot
jointly organised a workshop titled “Cost Management for NGO Eye Hospitals”. Members
from around 10 states were part of this workshop. Dr. M. Deshpande, Dr. Elesh Jain, Mr.
R. M. Sundaram, Ms. Chitra Prasad, Mr. Subeesh Kuyyadiyil & Mr. Rishi Vora were
among the faculties. The Interactive sessions and case discussions brought better
understanding on cost containment in eye care, its management and various negotiation
and optimizing efforts.

1st. This year’s international theme for
World AIDS Day is “Living with HIV”
as clinical trials of new vaccines is un-
der the spotlight. The staff of
Jankikund Hospital organized activities
to raise awareness across the communi-
ty about the issues surrounding HIV
and AIDS with nukkad nataks. The
nurses distributed the red ribbon, wear-
ing which, people and hospital-staff

Mandir Trust celebrated Annakoot
Mahotsav on 31st October 2016. On this
day, many varieties of food items are
offered to Lord Krishna for prosperity of
life. Shri Raghubir Mandir Trust of-
fered around 508 types of food times to
Lord Krishna with various mantras and
hymns. Later the food was distrib-
uted as Prasadam among devotees
and Sadhus in the form of ‘Bhandara’.
Sadguru Parivaar celebrated this

On the ‘tithi’ of TulsiVivah, the symbolic
wedding ritual of is performed in the evening.
Devotees fast till the dusk and take up devo-
tional activities as soon as the sun is down.
Tulsi plant is decorated with flowers and all
other paraphernalia of a bride. Shri Raghubir
Mandir Trust celebrated the Tulsi Vivah with
Bhagwan Shaligram with Sadguru Parivar and
devotees of Gurudev from all over India. Dr.
Shubhi-Dr. Manish Bhardwaj represented the
groom’s (Bhagwan Shaligram) parents and Dr. Pradnya- Dr. Alok Sen and family
represented bride’s (Tulsi) parents. Amidst vedic mantra, the sacred marriage was
performed at auspicious time. Delicacies cooked were offered to Tulsidevi and prasad was

children were screened
and around 50 teachers were trained at Nirmala Convent School, Sironj by SSNC Team
comprising of Mr. Shakeel Ahmed and Dr. Vrushali J. Sawant. Apart from this 274
patients were examined at outreach camp while 42 cataract patients were operated for
free at the base hospital at Anandpur.

on 21st October 2016, highlighting the
achievements of SSSST and importance
of team spirit. Mr. J. S. Chouhan, Direc-
tor of SATI, Vidisha, praised the efforts
of Dr. Vishnu Jobanputra and his team
for their valuable contribution in eradica-
tion of avoidable blindness in the region.
He appealed everybody to learn from the
simple and dedicated life of Dr. Vishnu Jobanputra who has devoted his entire life for the
betterment of humanity.

The facility was inaugurated
on 24th November 2016 in
presence of eminent ophthal-
mologist Dr. V. Kalevar
(Indore, M.P.) who in her guest lecture emphasized on Lamellar and Pediatric Kerato-
plasty. The surgical team comprising of visiting faculty Dr. Prateek Gujar from Bhopal
and Dr. Sharmila Jamra (Mandloi), Cornea Surgeon, SSNC volunteered their services.
Dr. Vishnu Jobanputra, Director and Trustee, in his address extended sincere gratitude
towards Dr. Kalevar for her kind support and congratulated the team for the effort. Reti-
na specialist from Bhopal, Dr. Amit Basiya was also present on the occasion along with
the ophthalmologists and other staff from SSNC. With the addition of this facility, corne-
al surgeries will now be performed on a routine basis at SSNC

ful presence of Mahamandaleshwar Swami Shri. Dr. Rameshwar Dasji Maharaj,
Rishikesh; SSSST Trustees ; and various gurubhai-bahans. The event was coordinated by
Shri Mahendra Bhai Dattani from Shri Sadguru Seva Setu Parivar Rajkot. During one
month camp, various Gurubhais and bahans across the country will visit the trust and
participate in the social welfare activities carried along with the Eye Camp.

CEO Zila Panchayat visited SSSST Anandpur on
27th November 2016. The guests were welcomed
by Mr. Goverdhan Upadhyay, Trustee SSSST.
During their short stay at the trust the guests
were briefed about the trust activities by Director
and Trustee Dr. Vishnu Jobanputra. Mr. Anil Suchari also visited the Vitreo-Retina unit
and praised the effort of the trust in making high-tech eye care services accessible to the
rural population.

SSSST is committed to the overall development of the
rural community and has undertaken various poverty
alleviations drives to support poor families from rural
pockets. In this concern, essential consumer items of daily
use such as oil; food grains; sugar; salt; chili powder etc.
were distributed at various villages occupied by Munda
(language) speaking tribal community - Shehriya Tribes.
The activity was organized by Mahila-Samiti under the
leadership of Su. Ilabahan Jobanputra for the tribal fami-
lies residing at Bhilara; Semri Tapra; Bees Bhuja; Patherachandu; Chak Bajna; Dhammo
Khedi; Ratidhai villages. Considering the festive season, decorative items such as
bangles, bindis, rings etc. were also distributed among tribal women. In order to promote
primary education, 40 school children were gifted with school uniforms. In all 500 tribal
families benefited from the activity carried out in the month of October 2016.

Shri Ramcharit Manas 108 Navahan Parayan Evam Shri Manas Katha Pravachan was
organized at Shri Ramdas Hanuman Mandir from
30th November 2016 to 8th December 2016 in pres-
ence of Param Pujya 1008 Mahamandleshwar Shri
Haricharandasji Maharaj, Gondal. The Parayan
began with a huge procession (Shobha-Yatra) from
village Anandpur to Shri Ramdas Hanuman Mandir on 29th November 2016 which was
attended by Mahamandaleshwar Swami Shri. Dr. Rameshwardasji Maharaj, Rishikesh;
Pujya Shri Shyamsunderdasji Maharaj from Chitrakoot recited Parayan. Regulara Bhan-
dara was carried out with Sadhu-Bhandara for more than 500 saints.
