1.0INTRODUCTION

1.1OVERVIEW

Thecollapseanalysisviewprogram,calledCollapseView(Collvue),isaninteractivegraphicspostprocessorthatallowsforthereviewingofnonlinearanalysisresultsinthesameenvironmentasPrecedeandPostvue.Theprogramallowsforviewingofdeflectedshapes,includingthedisplacementofelementsubsegments,andthegradualplastificationofelementsforanyloadincrement.Theprogramalsoprovidesextensiveplotandreportcapabilitiesthatallowforthestructureelastoplastichistoryandfailuremechanismtoberepresentedgraphicallyorinreportform.

CollapseViewrequiresacollapseanalysisresultsorrestartfile,createdbytheCollapseprogrammodule.TheresultsfilecontainsallcollapseanalysisinformationrequiredtoexecutetheCollapseViewprogramincludinganalysisresultsandmostmodelinformation.Inadditiontothecollapseanalysisrestartorresultsfile,aSACSmodelfilemayalsobespecifiedtobereadbytheCollapseViewprogram.TheSACSmodelfileisonlyrequiredifviews,facesorplansdefinedinthemodelaretobeusedoriftwolinerepresentationofnontubularmembersisdesired

Note:Ifamodelfileistobeinputalongwithacollapseanalysisrestartfile,themodelfileshouldbespecifiedasthesecondfileonthecommandline.

OutputfromCollapseViewconsistsofplotfilesandreportfiles.PlotfilesmaybeoutputinSACSNPF.ReportfilesaregeneratedasASCIItextfiles.



1.2SYSTEMCONFIGURATION

BeforeexecutingCollapseViewforthefirsttime,theSACSsystemconfigurationfileshouldbegeneratedusingtheSACSExecutive.CollapseViewaccessestheconfigurationfilenameconfigg.sacdefinedbyenvironmentalvariableSACGCFG.DatafromtheconfigurationfileisusedinallsubsequentexecutionsandmaybeeditedusingtheSACSExecutive.Iftheconfigurationfileisnotfoundorifthefiledoesnotexist,theCollapseViewprogramwillexitwithaconfigurationfilenotfounderrormessage.

Note:TheenvironmentalvariableSACGCFGmustcontainthefullpathnameoftheconfigurationfileincludingthefilename.

TheconfigurationparametersusedinCollapseViewmaybechangedforthecurrentsessionusingtheFile/Setupoption.



2.0GETTINGSTARTED

2.1CREATINGTHECOLLAPSERESULTSFILE

TheCollapseViewinteractiveplasticanalysisreviewprogramrequiresthatanalysisresultsandgeneralmodelinformationbestoredinacollapseanalysisresultsfile(restartfile).TheCollapseprogrammodulemustbeusedtogeneratethisfilepriortoinitiatingtheCollapseViewsession.

2.2BEGINNINGACOLLAPSEVIEWSESSION

TheCollapseViewplasticanalysisreviewsessionmayalsobestartedbyselectingCollapseViewfromtheSACSExecutiveandselectingacollapseanalysisrestartfileandtheSACSmodelfile.TheExecutivewillalsoprompttheuserifallloadstepsorselectedloadstepsaretobereadintoCollapseView.

Note:Themodelfilenameisoptionalandisrequiredonlyifmodelviews,facesorplansaretobeusedand/ornontubularcrosssectionsaretobedisplayedusingthedoublelinefeature.

2.3EXITINGTHECOLLAPSEVIEWSESSION

SelecttheFile/ExitmenucommandtoexittheCollapseViewsession.Iftheplotand/orreportshavebeencreatedtoafile,theplotand/orreportaresavedusingthedefaultfilenames.

3.0FILEFEATURES

3.1OPEN

TheOpencommandisusedtoimportanexistingCollapseanalysisresultsorrestartfile.

3.2SAVENPFAS

ThisassignsthenametotheNeutralPictureFile.

3.3SETTINGS

Thisallowstheusertoviewthestructurewith2linesorshading.ItalsoallowsthetimedwaitforAutoviewandallowstheusertoomitanumberofloadstepsfromtheendoftherestartfile,orreadagivennumberofstepsfromthestartofrestartfile.Thescalefactorforzoomcanalsobesetfromthisoption.Thesettingsoptionalsoallowstheusertolabeljointfailureswithacircle.

3.4PLOT



3.4.1Screen

Thescreencommandplotsthedisplaywindowcontentstotheprintdevice.

3.4.2Title

Allowstheusertoassignatitletoaplot.

3.5PAGESETUP

Allowstheusertoassignmarginsanddrawbordersaroundthemarginsandcreatecolorplotsandalsotodefinecharactersize.

3.6EXPORT

AllowstheusertosavethefiletothewindowsclipboardinadditiontoaNeutralPictureFormat,DXFFormatorasaWindowsMetaFile.

3.7EXIT

ThiscommandisusedtoexittheCollapseresultsreviewsession.CollapseViewpromptstheusertosaveanyreportsorplotsthatweregeneratedtoafilethatwerenotpreviouslysaved.

4.0DISPLAYFEATURES

4.1ACTIVE/ISOMETRIC

TheActive/Isometriccommanddisplaysallactivejoints,members,platesandshellsinathreedimensionalperspectiveview.Ifadisplayvolumeisset(seeSection4.4),thenallactivejointsandelementswithinthespecifiedvolumearedisplayed.

4.2FACE

IftheSACSmodelfilewasspecifiedonthecommandlinewhenbeginningtheCollapseViewsession,thisfeatureallowstheusertoselecttheplaneofapredefinedfacetobedisplayed.Anoutofplanetolerancemaybeenteredinthepropertybox.

Note:ThisfeaturerequiresthatamodelfilebeinputintotheCollapseViewprograminadditiontotheCollapseresultsorrestartfile.

4.3PLAN

Thisfeatureallowstheusertoselecttheplaneofapredefinedplantobedisplayed.Thedesiredplanisselectedfromthepropertybox.Theoutof



planetolerancemaybeenteredinthepropertybox..

4.4PLANE

ThePlanedisplaycommandactivatestheDisplay/Planesubmenuallowingaccesstoplaneandvolumedisplaycommands.Planesorvolumescontainingjointsthatarelocatedinthespecifiedplaneand/orvolumeandanyactivememberorplateelementsconnectedtothejointsareshown.Theplanedisplayfeaturesallowforanoutofplanetolerancetobespecifiedintheproperty.

Note:Onlymemberorplateelementsthathaveallconnectingjointsshownareincludedonthedisplay.

Inadditiontodisplayingvolumecontents,volumedisplayfeaturesdeactivateeverythinglyingoutsideofthespecifiedvolume.Therefore,onceavolumeisactivated,theResetVoloptionmustbeusedtodisplayjointsandelementslyingoutsideofthevolume(s)designated.TheXY,XZandYZvolumefeaturesmaybeusedinconjunctionwitheachothertodefinecubesthataretobedisplayed.

4.4.1Joints

Aplaneviewmaybedefinedbyanythreejointsthatarenotalignedalongaline,usingthisoption.Thefirsttwojointspickeddefinethelineusedasthehorizontaldisplayaxisoftheplane.Thethirdjointpickedisusedtodefineplanetobedisplayed.

Note:Theplaneisdisplayedsuchthatthelinedefinedbythefirsttwojointsisalignedhorizontallyandisdisplayedfromlefttorightonthedisplay.

4.4.2XYPlane

AglobalXYplane,definedbyaglobalZ(vertical)coordinateinputinthepropertybox,maybedisplayedusingthisfeature.Anoutofplanetolerancemaybespecifiedwiththisoption.

4.4.3XZPlane

AglobalXZplane,definedbyaglobalYcoordinateinputinthepropertybox,maybedisplayedusingthisfeature.Anoutofplanetolerancemaybespecifiedwiththisoption.

4.4.4YZPlane

AglobalYZplane,definedbyaglobalXcoordinateinputinthepropertybox,maybedisplayedusingthisfeature.Anoutofplanetolerancemaybespecifiedwiththisoption.

Thisoptionresetsthevolumerangecoordinatestothedefaultvaluesof4and4forXY,XZandYZvolumes.

4.5SELECT

TheSelectoptionallowstheusertoselectdisplayoptionsandtoincludeand/orexcludeportionsofthestructurefordisplaypurposes.



Thedisplayoptionscheckboxesareusedtodesignatewhetherornotdisconnectedjoints(jointswithnoactivemembersconnected),members,memberoffsets,platesandplateoffsets,shellelementsaretobedisplayed.

TheJointRangesframeallowsupto4jointrangestobedefined.JointnameswithinthespecifiedrangesmaybedesignatedtobeeitherincludedorexcludedfromthedisplaybyselectingtheIncludeorExcludebutton,respectively.WhenthejointrangesaredesignatedasIncluded,onlyjointswithinthespecifiedrangesareactivefordisplaypurposes.WhentherangesaredesignatedasExcluded,jointswithinthespecifiedrangesaredeactivatedorexcludedfordisplaypurposes.

Upto20Memberand/orplategroupsmaybespecifiedtobeincludedorexcludedfromthedisplay.WhengroupsaredesignatedasIncluded,onlyelementsthathaveallincidentjointsactiveandareassignedtooneofthespecifiedgroupsareconsideredactivefordisplay.WhengroupsaredesignatedasExcluded,allelementsassignedtooneofthespecifiedgroupsareexcludedordeactivatedfromthedisplay.TheMembergroupsonlycheckboxdesignateswhetheronlymembergroupsaretobeincludedorexcluded(checked),ormemberandplategroupsaretobeincludedorexcluded(unchecked).

ClickthePlasticbuttontoopentheplasticityleveloptionswindowshownbelow.Enterthefivelevelsofplasticitytobedisplayed.

Thiscommandallowstheusertoresettheselectoptionsbacktotheirdefaultvalues.

TheDisplay/Labelingfeaturesallowforjoints,membersand/orplatestobelabeledonthedisplay.Ingeneral,labelsubmenuitemsaretogglesthatturnthefeatureonoroff.

TheRotatefeaturesallowtheactivedisplaytoberotatedabouttheglobalX,YorZaxes.

Thistoggledesignateswhetherstructuralmembersaretobedisplayedassingleordoublelines.

4.10SHADING

SelecttheShadingmenucheckifmembersdisplayedastwolinesaretobeshownwithshading.

4.11ZOOMBOX

Thisoptionexpandstheareawithinthedesignatedwindowsothatitfillstheentiredisplayarea.

Thisoptionreturnsanyzoomeddisplaytoitsoriginalunzoomedform.

4.13VIEW

TheViewdisplaymenucommandactivatestheDisplay/Viewsubmenushownbelow.ViewfeaturesrequirethatamodelfilebeinputintotheCollapseViewprograminadditiontotheplasticanalysisresultsorrestartfile.

4.14DEFLECTIONFACTOR

Allowstheusertofactorthedeflectionsfordisplaypurposes.

5.0LOADSTEPFEATURES

TheLoadStepmenucommandsallowtheusertodesignatetheactiveordisplayedloadincrement.Thecurrentloadincrementisdisplayedusingthe



currentdisplaysettingsanddeflectionfactor.

Note:Adeflectionfactormaybespecifiedinordertoexaggeratethedisplacementsofaparticularloadincrement.SelecttheDeflectionFactorundertheDisplayMenu.

CollapseViewcanbeusedtopostprocesstheresultsintheformofreportsandgraphs.

ThereportsaregeneratedbyaccessingtheReport/Work/Workdonemenu.Theworkdonebyallexternalforcesonanyofthejointsmaybetabulatedandtotaled.Thisreportcanalsobeproducedforuserspecifiedjointsandloadstepsusingtheselectionoptions.

Ifloadstepselectionhasbeenactivated,thenCollapseViewadditionallyreportstheworkdonethatisaccumulatedsolelyduringtheselectedloadsteps.Forinstance,ifanimpacteventtakesplacefromloadsteps6through15,thenlimitingthereporttoloadsteps6through15willensurethatCollapseViewreportstheworkdonesolelyduetotheimpactforce.
