Major Change in the patient listing policy at Hanover Hospital

Beginning in December 2018, Hanover Hospital will begin to follow the stricter patient listing system procedures of UPMC-Pinnacle, and in keeping with Federal HIPAA Laws. 1. Clergy will not be able to view denominational lists. 2. Clergy will not be able to get patient information at the front desk, unless they have the proper name of the patient they want to see. Like any other visitor. 3a. If the patient indicates a congregational affiliation in the admissions interview, the Hospital Chaplain can call the congregation. 3b. If the patient indicates to the Hospital Chaplain on his/her rounds that he/she belongs to a particular congregation and gives permission, the Chaplain can call the congregation. 4. In an emergency situation, if the patient or family indicates a congregational affiliation to the Hospital Chaplain, Rev. Eric Stenman, or other staff and gives them permission to call the congregation, every effort will be made to notify the congregation (or other clergy from same religious affiliation).

THEREFORE, BEGINNING DECEMBER 01, 2018,

EACH PARISHIONER ADMITTED TO HANOVER HOSPITAL HAS THE PERSONAL

Personally call the Parish Office and inform the Parish Manager that you are in the Hospital; or 3. Ask your family to contact the Parish Office on your behalf.

Please do not assume that the parish is aware you are in the hospital.
