NOVEMBER IS THE TRADITIONAL MONTH OF ALL SOULS,
a time when the Church reminds us of all the “brothers and sisters who
are taking the same path toward heaven,” some of whom are undergoing
a purification before their full communion with God. While the souls in
Purgatory can pray for us, they can no longer pray for themselves. The
spiritual works of prayer, almsgiving and sacrifice on their behalf are
now up to us. Here at Sacred Heart, one Mass is being offered each
day of the month for all those whose names are submitted to us on the
special All Souls envelopes included with your monthly envelope pack-
ets. Extra envelopes are available at the entrances of the church or in
the parish office. During the month of November, these envelopes will
be on display on the altar as a reminder and remembrance of our
dearly departed loved ones.
St. Gertrude’s Prayer for Souls in Purgatory
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine
Son, Jesus,
in union with the Masses said throughout the world today,
for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory,
for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church,
those in my own home and within my family. Amen.
“The souls of the just are in the hands of God.”

Next Sunday, November 25 after
the 12 Noon Mass, Fr. Larry and
Fr. Bob will administer the Sacrament of Anointing. All who
will be anointed will come forward and be seated in the front

Who may receive the Sacrament?
The anointing of the sick can be administered to a member of
the faithful (a baptized catholic) who, after having reached the
age of reason, begins to be in danger due to sickness or old age.
This sacrament can be repeated whenever the sick person again
falls into a serious sickness after convalescence or whenever a
more serious crisis develops during the same sickness. It
should be noted that the danger need only have begun to exist.
The person does not have to be in imminent danger of dying.
Who may Administer the Sacrament?
Only priest or bishop may administer the Sacrament.
