We have placed our military roll honoring the men and women of our parish family currently serving our country in the Church’s military shrine. If you would like to add someone to the roll, please call the parish office. Father David’s Website Like what you heard? Want to hear it again or share with someone else? You can listen to Father David’s homilies at www. fatherdavidrider.com. Registration for 2020-21 School Year Registration is open for our Religious Education Program. We welcome children grades 1 through 12. Your family must be registered with Sacred Heart Church before you can enroll your child into our Religious Education Program. If you are not a parishioner of Sacred Heart yet, stop into our office to register. Please read the Parent Handbook on the Sacred Heart website for important information about our program before you proceed with your child’s registration. Also, note that in addition to the class, children are expected to attend Mass each week. Fund a Religious Education Student Not every family in our parish is able to afford the registration fees which cover the expense of books and supplies. If you would like to “adopt” a child/family, the cost is $170 for one child, $315 for two children, $410 for three children and $455 for four children. Please consider helping out in this difficult time.

Sunday will be celebrated on October 18. At the 12:00 pm Mass all married couples who have celebrated or will be celebrating their 25th, 50th, 60th or longer anniversaries in 2020 are cordially invited to renew their wedding vows at this Mass.
The Christian Service Committee may have a small reception in the St. Theresa room in the Pastoral Center immediately following the Mass. If you would like to attend, please call Betty Benz at 662-3826. A response is required before October 2nd so that we can plan accordingly. Those married couples who would like to receive a certificate for their anniversary from the Archdiocese need to contact the parish office by August 30th.

Rosary at Newburgh Planned Parenthood
September 1

Prayer for Vocations
Lord Jesus Christ, You have told us that there is plenty of harvest in Your Fathers garden but the laborers are few. Today we pray for vocations in our Holy Church. Help our parents to mentor their children to realize the call to priesthood and religious service.
Help the parents to become good role models to their children like the Holy Family of Jesus Mary and Joseph. Guide, guard, protect and govern the children so that they may not be swayed by the evil one who may lead them into sin.
Help our priests and religious so that they may also be perfect role models to the young ones and mentor them to pray and take up the sacred vocation of serving the church of Christ.
Lord, make us Your laborers in Your farm and give me the strength to work for You. Help us do our part and we will get our wages on the last day. Amen
Mission Statement for the Diaconate in the Archdiocese of New York
Committed to the work begun by Jesus, the deacon is ordained to the ministry of service. He is a sign of Christ’s love and concern for all who are in need – especially the widowed, orphans, the infirm, the elderly, prisoners, couples, teenagers, and all who are in need of the loving and serving heart of Christ.
The aspirant begins formation in a small, intimate, caring environment where the dignity of the individual is valued. The aspirant and candidate pursue a spiritual, theological, and pastoral four-year formation program which integrates the aforementioned aspects of formation and assists him to:
• strengthen his spirituality • discern his vocation • acquire a strong foundation in scripture,
liturgy, dogma, moral and pastoral theology • be an evangelizer to people of all ages, of
every ethnic / racial background • be a true witness of the Gospel in his words
and deeds and at all times strive for peaceful solutions to human conflicts
• grow ever close to Mary, Mother of God, whose life of service should be a model for all aspirants and candidate
• share with his wife and family the training and formation he undergoes so that they will become aware of the ministry, support it, and accommodate the demands of the ministry to their daily family life
If you think you are being called to become a deacon, please see Father David.
