The Adventures of “Flat Jesus”
What in the world is “The adventures of FLAT JESUS?”
“Flat Jesus” was created from the basis of a children’s book called Flat
Stanley, (written by Jeff Brown). In the book, a boy named Stanley be-
comes flattened and is able to be mailed to different places, have all
kinds of exciting adventures.
Color “Flat Jesus” and take him with you as you travel . . . Or to what-
ever you do this summer. Take a picture of him doing different things.
It will be an amazing adventure and a way to remember that Jesus is
with you always. Pick up your “Flat Jesus” and instructions at the
Children’s table.
Pictures can be emailed to Susan at [email protected]
Or uploaded to the Sabina Church of Christ Facebook page.

SERMON OUTLINE
“DADS WHO ARE INTENTIONAL”
A. 2 Kings 22:1-2 says, “Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty-one years. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and followed completely the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left.”
B. Josiah chose to break the cycle. Josiah decided that the legacy he received from his dad and grandad would not be the legacy that he would leave to his son.
C. Maybe you didn’t have the greatest dad. Maybe you haven’t been the greatest dad. But you can change things with God’s help. You can start a healthy cycle, and legacy to leave to your children and loved ones. If you had a legacy of love given to you from your parents, will you continue that cycle?
D. Today, I want to talk to you about three different legacies that you can leave upon your children. We’ll start with:
1. Affirming or “Encouraging” words. a. Proverbs 12:18 b. So we’re called to speak encouraging words - words that heal,
words that strengthen - rather than negative words which wound and discourage.
2. Active involvement. a. Proverbs 22:6 b. Dad, mom, your children need you. They need your involvement.
They need your encouragement. c. Paul Harvey said: “A parent spells love - T-I-M-E” 3. Spiritual leadership. a. Father’s, God has called us to be a source of spiritual
encouragement, and leadership. To breathe a fresh wind of the Holy Spirit into the ears and the hearts of our children.
b. So here are four ways that we can spiritually lead our kids. 1. Teach respect - Ephesians 6:1 2. Model grace for them. 3. Have a personal walk with the Lord - Philippians 4:13 4. Protect your family - Matthew 3:16-17
CONCLUSION: Someone defined a dad as “a man who has pictures of his children in his wallet where money used to be.” Dads, we model the way we love our children after the way God loves us.
