Influence
Ways to Influence
• RECIPROCITY: Ask for more then you need and then negotiate a lower requirement acceptable to the other party.
• LINKING: Proximity is important – get closer to the other party, attend one on one’s and use the phone instead of email.
• COMMITMENT: Have voluntary sign-ups for tasks. Also involve team members in project plan drafts.
• SOCIAL PROOF: Mimic the behavior of others. Try to gain someone’s agreement and then ask them to state their opinion in a meeting, as
this is a form of social proof.
