Agenda
• Reasons for Cloud
• Service Only or Hybrid
• Hybrid Architecture
• Things to consider before the move (panagenda portfolio)
• Ways to transfer users to the Cloud
• IBM Notes client onboarding / re-configuration

Reasons for migrating (going) into the Cloud
• Features, features, features (mostly in the Cloud first)
• Managed storage
• License costs
• Availability
• Performance
• (Connectivity)

Choose wisely! Service Only or Hybrid
• Fundamental decision. You have to get it right the first time!
• If you get it wrong you have to knock down and start over
• If you have to start over you will very likely lose your data!
@panareima

Differences between Service Only and Hybrid
• Service Only:– Your entire Email structure is in the Cloud including your Directory– All of your Administration is done in the Cloud via web interface– It’s all or nothing: When you move your MX-records your entire
organization has to switch to the Cloud all at once– Very limited options for customization– No knowledge about Notes/Domino Administration required to manage
your users
• Hybrid:– IBM Connections Cloud becomes an extension of the on-premises
Notes/Domino infrastructure– Administration of users is done both using Domino tools on-premises and
the webinterface– You can put your users on Cloud over time at a pace that you set– You can migrate users email to the Cloud due to the integration with your
on-premises servers– More options for customization

IBM Connections Cloud (S1) Hybrid? yes, if ...
• … you want to migrate user email
• … you want to move to the Cloud in stages
• … you want to keep some users on-premises
• … you have Notes/Domino applications and will continue to use them after the move to the Cloud

IBM Connections Cloud (S1) Hybrid: What does it require?
• One (*) server with IBM Domino in a passthru role (Domino 8.5.2 or later)– This server does not perform any mail routing or replication– It doesn’t require any significant disk space and processing speed
• One (*) Domino hub server for directory replication and mail routing (Domino 8.5.1FP2 or later)
– that’s often an existing server
• Notes/Domino infrastructure (Directory server, etc…)– Domino servers at appropriate (recent) versions
(*) two recommended for redundancy

Going Cloud: Analyze first!panagenda iDNA: Instant and Ongoing Analytics
The future is now! – With business intelligence (BI) for email, applications,collaboration and communication.
Your infrastructure holds a wealth of big and wide data that is waiting to work for you and your team. Here are a few of the most prominent topics where panagenda iDNA enables you to utilize it:
• Optimize operations, planning and strategy• Measure actual usage and load, real-world billing• Make informed decisions for Cloud, modernization, mobile, migration and
consolidation• Identify most and least used applications, e.g. by VIPs, sales, the business,
certain geographies, client types• Across IBM Notes rich clients, IBM iNotes, browser clients, mobile devices,
servers and applications

panagenda iDNA: Database usageThe "bubble chart" shows how alive and used the environment is. Every bubble is a database and its color indicates the type, like mail or application. Small bubbles are used by few users, large bubbles by many. The X-axis shows read traffic, the Y-axis shows write traffic - so databases on the top right are have most network I/O while ones on the lower left are rarely used.

18
panagenda iDNA: Database sizesSee your databases' storage requirements categorized by size and database type, thereby offering immediate insight as to which types of databases consume the most disk space.
@panareima

19
panagenda iDNA: Network trafficObserved network traffic between clients and servers over time. This allows to identify regular and irregular peaks easily, for example. You can interact with this chart by zooming into selected time spans.

panagenda iDNA: Data volumes paired with geo-informationThis demo visualizes optional iDNA functionality to further enrich collected data with HR data and/or geographical information. This facilitates a broad range of possible visualizations, such as displaying reports and charts as per region, country, city or department, as well as adapting content according to authorization in iDNA portal.

22
panagenda iDNA: Cloud and webification potentialThis demo visualizes optional iDNA functionality to integrate Domino web log data. This enables various reports around web and mobile usage. This example shows what types of databases are used by rich clients only, both rich clients and browsers, or by web browsers only (desktop or mobile). Apps that are accessed from rich clients usually involve higher risks in e.g. Cloud and migration scenarios, compared to apps that are already usable via browsers.

23
panagenda iDNA: Mail Volume AnalyticsThis "bubble chart" shows how alive the email infrastructure is. Every bubble is a mail domain and their color indicate different Top-level domain names like .com, .de, .co.uk, etc. The bubble size indicates the amount of users who have been in contact with this mail domain. The X-axis shows number of received, the Y-axis shows number of sent messages - so with domains on the top right, lots of messages have been exchanged while ones on the lower left are rarely communicated with.
@panareima
#MWLUG2016
24
panagenda iDNA: Mail Volume AnalyticsThis bar chart displays email volume separated by number of recipients per mail. The X-axis shows number of recipients per sent message, the Y-axis shows percentage of total messages delivered to recipients. With that one can recognize how many internal and external recipients are addressed per sent message and which percentage each category is out of 100%.
@panareima

25
panagenda iDNA: Mail Volume AnalyticsThis bar chart displays email volume by size of sent messages to internal and external recipients. The X-axis shows message sizes (1KB – 8GB), the Y-axis shows percentage of total delivered message volume. This gives a good overview of what message sizes are sent to internal and external recipients and what amount of traffic each message causes to a multiplied number of addressees.

Want to see your own environment’s data with iDNA? There are two ways to engage:
• IBM Domino Double Check• Directly with panagenda
https://www.panagenda.com/contact/trial-licenses/
Both options give you a free 7-day snapshot of your IBM Domino infrastructure and rich client usage, which is a nice and easy way to learn about the value of such data analysis.

We’re assuming “Hybrid” in this session.Let’s onboard user mail files and re-configure their local IBM Notes client for IBM Connections Cloud.
@panareima
#MWLUG2016
29
Hybrid: Onboarding methods
• OPT (Onboarding Planning Tool)– Used to gather and fix potential problems in mail files at the start of the
transfer process– Time spent fixing issues here can save lots of time and aggravation later
• OTT (Onboarding Transition Tool)– Used to manage the transfer of “batches” of mail files to the IBM data center
• To get access to OPT/OTT an IBM business partner needs to take classes and certifications
• OPT / OTT has been developed to enable Partner led Cloud service provisioning with data transfer
• IBM also delivers chargeable Cloud onboarding via Software Services for Collaboration (ISSC)

Hybrid: Onboarding methods
• MOM Tool (Mail Onboarding Manager)– moves your on-premises IBM Notes mail data to the cloud– provisions new or existing Connections Cloud accounts with SmartCloud
Notes mail– creates a replica of your on-premises Domino directory in the tool locally– transfers mail files and assigns subscriptions– is organized into 5 pages, each of which provides information or
capabilities that step through the onboarding process– controls when and how mail files are moved and accounts are
provisioned– monitors the onboarding progress on the tool's Dashboard or the Detail
view on the Staging page– can be used without the help of an IBM business partner

Hybrid: IBM Notes Client onboarding
• Client Configuration tool (config.nsf)– Checks for the following information (besides many other things – see more
info link below)• The client is a version supported for IBM SmartCloud Notes access• The config.nsf file contains information needed to perform the
configuration• The downloaded data is less than 24 hours old
– Confirms that the user is logged in using the ID that they will use in the service.
– Creates a wildcard Connection document that the client will use to connect to a mail server in the Cloud through the proxy server in the service. The server name in the Connection is */your_certifier, where your_certifier is the name of the OU certifier you provided for your mail servers during Cloud service configuration.
– Creates a Location document called ‘SmartCloud for username’, or updates it if it already exists and is incorrect
