Rationale

Libraries have been identified with acquisition, organization and preservation of printed, non-printed and other learning sources. It is the heart of the institution, the center for learning. The condition of the library is said to be as good as its collections.

This is an utmost important to students, faculty, administrators and other

researchers. As essential source of intellectual advancement in an institution it should endeavor to meet the needs of all its clients by providing an adequate and up-to-date resources and facilities to support its curricular programs.

SKSU library is now preparing to move towards collection development and eventually adapting technologies to provide better and quality services. Due to rising student population, a problem on limited equipment, facilities and books arises. But despite of these limitations, the university took positive steps through program accreditation by Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (AACCUP).

Fortunately, SKSU passed levels II ;III Phase 1, III Phase 2 accreditation survey

visits on BS Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, BSIT, BSCS, and BIT to name a few last accreditation survey visits. By first quarter of 2020, the university will again submit the several programs for accreditation for higher levels.

With the effort to pass the said accreditation, the university is seeking generous

assistance from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in order to provide the

necessary facilities, equipment’s and upgrade its library holdings to meet the requirements of AACCUP specifically on library. III. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project includes purchase of additional learning resources to update and upgrade the library holdings as well as to acquire and procure additional equipment and facilities. Several titles of books will be identified purposely to enhance the collection particularly on programs to be accredited comes first quarter of 2020 (Please see attach listings on the succeeding pages). IV. OBJECTIVES

1. To provide a well-balanced and up to date learning resources; 2. To give priorities on the needs of programs submitted for accreditation; 3. To provide additional facilities and equipments to meet the standard

requirements of CHED and AACCUP;

4. To offer better and quality services to users; and

5. To ensure favorable accreditation result.

V. EXPECTED OUTPUTS

1. Provide students, faculty and other users with latest learning sources;

2. To meet necessary requirements set by CHED and AACCUP;

3. Increase the holdings and number of equipment in order to address the needs of library users;

4. Strengthen efficient, effective and better quality delivery of library services;

5. To pass the accreditation survey visit.
