Class VI D presented a special assembly on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. It started with a beautiful rendition of

prayer in Sanskrit. The importance of the festival

was highlighted by a captivating dance

performance in praise of Lord Ganesha. The

programme was enjoyed by everyone.

Students at DPS Surat expressed their affection and gratitude for their teachers by putting up a fun-filled show for them on Teachers’ Day. While students of Classes VII and XII stepped into the teachers’ shoes and taught their juniors, students of Classes XI and XII organized exciting games for the teachers. The teachers participated enthusiastically in these games which included Treasure Hunt and Dumb Charades. The show also included a self choreographed dance and the ‘spicy’ fish-pond which revealed the teachers’ views on their colleagues. This was followed by an impressive photo session of the seniors with all the teachers. The day was enjoyed by teachers and students alike.

Hindi Creative Writing Competition on 11 September. The students’ creativity came to the fore when they displayed their flair for writing and put their ideas on paper on various topics. All students participated with great zeal and interest.

The children of class Prep celebrated ‘GRANDPARENTS WEEK’ from 15th September to 19th September 2008 .Grandparents were invited to spend a morning with their grandchildren in the school and were received warmly by the students. PPPEEEOOOPPPLLLEEE AAATTT WWWOOORRRKKK In order to familiarize our young learners with different occupations in our community, a potter was invited on 18th- 19th September to demonstrate his skill to the students of classes Pre-Nursery- class II. He had brought in his wheel for the purpose. The children watched with rapt attention as he moulded exquisite earthen lamps and pots with his hands.

CCCLLLAAASSSSSSEEESSS III &&& IIIIII PPPIIICCCNNNIIICCC School picnics are always eagerly awaited by the students as they not only provide a break from the daily routine but also widen the horizon of their knowledge. The students of Classes I & II were delighted when they were taken to Kribhco Garden and Chowpatty respectively during 25 September-30 September. Various games were played by students and teachers. The outing was enjoyed by everyone.

INTER DPS QUIZ COMPETITION The Inter DPS Quiz Competition was held at DPS Nagpur on 19th of this month. The subject for the quiz was Contemporary India’. Rudresh Awasthi (IX E) and Ramadevi Tentu( IX D), escorted by Ms Gargee Rajadhyax, represented DPS Surat. Other participating schools were DPS Ahmedabad, DPS Jodhpur, DPS Navi Mumbai, and DPS Nagpur.
